Laura and Nate stayed with us for 2 weeks in May, and we really enjoyed their visit! They got stacks done, lots of tidying the garden, pruning after a summer of much growth, some cleaning, some mowing and slashing, brilliant. We were lucky enough to have Ben stay with us for a month over Jan/Feb, and we had such a terrific time! The community I met there is just amazing and supportive and I am so incredibly thankful to Helen and Eugene having opened up their doors for me. You gave me so much during these weeks starting with late night discussions and monopoly games up to spontaneous lifts and warm jumpers xD
I'm wishing them both just the best!

We would certainly be thrilled to have Con stay again!

Nicole stayed with us for 8 days, and we're planning a second stay soon (within the limitations of the Covid19 situation), it went so well. We've enjoyed her company very much, she's an interesting person with heaps of energy! We had some very interesting and thought-provoking conversations about life and the universe. And we enjoyed so much

At our place Nicole worked some magic in the garden, making over our mandela vegie garden area! It looks gorgeous now, and is all ready for spring planting, we feel ahead of the game! There was some pruning to do, which Nicole researched and then tackled, the results look excellent. She also retrieved the compost from the neglected pile, built a new compost heap, & hauled heaps of mulch in from the field. All in all she tackled lots of our garden jobs with energy and willingness, and achieved heaps.
It was easy having Nicole sharing our house, she's a very low maintenance guest. She was happy to slot into our little routines, and also showed us some great new anagram games. Until next time, thanks so much Nicole!

Where to begin! Helen and Eugene saved my bacon when another workaway placement fell through at the last minute, and I’m so glad that happened! I spent about 3.5 weeks at their place and didn’t want to leave! They’re such genuinely caring and kind humans, who took a real interest in me and my life, and shared their slice of paradise with me so
… read more willingly. I learnt so much from them and just felt so welcomed. I re-arranged my travel plans to return to their place, but sadly COVID-19 got in the way of that and I had to return to the UK. I hope to get back for a visit one day!
My main tasks were pulling out the old barbed wire from the fencing on their property, and helping work the horses so we could prep one for sale. I also helped paint some furniture, and did house cleaning etc. All jobs I was more than happy to do! Helen’s horses were all lovely - each with their own fun personality. I really enjoyed my time with them (if I lived in Australia I would have tried to take Raven home)!
I could write endlessly about how much I loved my time here, but I’ll try to limit it to a few of my favourite moments: cantering down the beach, long chats at the dinner table, playing bananagrams (even though I’m terrible), looking at houses for sale with Jac, breakfasts on the verandah, lovely evenings in town, and just having the opportunity to spend quiet hours organising bookshelves, or painting, or working with the horses.
I have stayed at some workaway locations that take advantage of free labour, but Helen and Eugene genuinely adhere to the workaway system of 5 hours a day. Often, I was enjoying myself so I sometimes did a bit more work, very willingly! (Eugene would always kindly remind me I could stop!) But the difference between being expected to do more, and wanting to, is so important in an exchange like this.
Thanks Helen, Eugene (and Jac) for a glorious stay. Hope to see you again soon. (Please give Raven and Axel some love from me!) xoSó é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

I stayed with Helen and Eugene for 5 weeks and it was one of the best experience I've ever had. They picked me up from the bus station and let me feel like home straight away.
