- A volunteer with knowledge in architecture.

Only host vaccinated volunteers.
Don’t accept cigarette smokers, including vapes or electric. (Zero tolerance)
We don’t take couples or pairs.
Prefer volunteers to stay for a minimum of 2 weeks, mature and serious about volunteering, and not just looking for a place to sleep and eat for free….so we will decide on your first week if the arrangement is working for both of us.
We are a couple fulfilling our life long dream of enjoying nature and giving back to our wonderful Colombia, we also have a fantastic partner that’s a very creative architect and has helped with the project all along, he is Mauricio and will be co managing the project with me!
We have recently finished the first stage of our forward thinking jungle retreat and bird sanctuary in a bountiful spot along a crystal clear river near Minca, a magical place up in the mountains not far from Santa Marta and the amazing Tayrona park.
Michelle is a yoga teacher (currently away from the property) I am a designer that lives locally and spends some time on the property. With your help and our wonderful local staff we deliver a jungle immersion experience like no other!
We have used only bamboo (Guadua) and natural wood implementing a combination of ancestral building methods and state of the art vanguard design, respecting nature as our number one priority.
We deliver a cutting edge new concept of low impact high quality travel, where we allow a small group of hand picked like minded guests per month (only 7 rooms) and offer them an unusual immersion experience in the jungle, pamper them with a very dedicated knowledgeable staff, top notch vegetarian food and jaw dropping accommodations, so they can go home rejuvenated, recharged and a little more knowledgeable about conservation and sustainability.
All the money collected from guests will pay first and foremost for staff salaries and maintenance expenses, and the remaining balance will go into future sustainable projects within the property and local projects aim to better the lives of underprivileged local Minca residents.
You will be staying at the newly built staff headquarters with clean bathrooms, electricity, internet (at the main house for now) a private kitchen, and amazing views.
The river is just steps away and will lull you to sleep at night, and you’ll wake up to bird songs and an occasional howler monkey call!
The town of Minca is only a 15 minute walk (or a 3 minute moto taxi ride) and has great weather all year round. (It rains a lot in the rainy season but temperatures do not change)
We will share with you our experiences with permaculture and sustainability, show you how we build the bamboo towers, and ask of you to help wholeheartedly in any way you can with all projects active at the time, we will feed you lots of local fruit and simple but hearty vegetarian meals, and when the cooks are resting you will have a kitchen with ingredients and tools to prepare you own food.
Amongst many other different tasks you will be:
Teaching yoga/meditation etc (if that’s your calling)
Helping with check in, check out, and providing general information to arriving guests
Guiding guests through our paths and river activities (we will make sure you know the place well)
Helping in the kitchen/restaurant with simple tasks and or/serving or retrieving plates
Helping with planting, collecting, or general permaculture
You will be sharing an amazing experience in a wonderful friendly forest with a lovely crew of fun hard working locals and other Workawayers like you!
