  Tàpui means "the place we live in" in ze'egete Tupi Idiom.
  Our mission is to mix tradition with future in our Surf & Kite place.
  
  Please do not write us if you feel unconfortable with being in the jungle.
  
  We are localized in a blessed spot between Massambaba desert beach and Araruama Lake.
  Its a perfect place for surfing, kitesurfing, stand up padlle, fishing and all beach and water sports!
  Perfect for who is looking for a quiet place to retreat completely involved with the nature in a wild beach.
  Our camping is localized less than 3 hours from the Capital. Rodoviaria Novo Rio, the capital bus station offer frequent coach to Arraial do Cabo and Cabo Frio.
  We're 1 Km walking distance from Monte Alto small village (where you can find markets, public phone and internet cofee). 5 minutes from our place there is a bus stop with frequent urban bus to Arraial do Cabo (15 minutes far away) and Cabo Frio (20 minutes far away) where you can find full Urban services.
  
  Please read carefully our profile and suggest what you could do best with something you have already good skills and experience. We need to have your help in something you do best. And than you'll learn lots of other things with us and the people around. The idea is sharing knowledge, cultural expressions and work in a respectful and pleasurable way.

  I am Luis, a geographer who worked with indigenous people lands rights in Brazil for 8 years. After finishing my masters studies about indigenous lands cartography I decided to live myself as I learned with our natives.
  This workaway project started in June 2014, by the indication of a German couple who came to my place trought couchsurf. We hosted more than 60 workawayers from all over the world on last tree years and it was an amazing experience for me and everybody else. Lots of friendships was created in our atmosphere!!
  
  We started our project asking for help on the construction to improve our infrastructure to host surfers and travelers. The constructions was made by intuitive building with re-usage of old materials, drinking a lot in the fonts of the traditional knowledge of the native Brazilian indigenous people. European people use to call this permaculture and bio-construction. In fact they stole the indigenous knowledge, mixed with scientific parameters to prove that its a better and most sustainable way to live and sell back this know how to the lost people in the cities who look for new and healthier ways of life. We do something similar but we study indigenous knowledge from our relatives and friends, we invite them to live with us, we travel to their lands to learn from them and help in whatever we can, and than we share this knowledge to our partners. As scientific knowledge is an expensive key, we study what the best designers are discovering about structures, materials and shapes. Usually they discover in a more expensive way things that the indigenous have a millenarian knowledge about. But sometimes the mix of both get a good flavor.
  
  The new camp-site is opened for all kind of people who want to have direct contact with the nature, dunes, the ocean and the second biggest lake in Brasil! Come to share this paradise!

  Ajuda

  After some years closed due to the pandemic, we're restarting our project. From January to march 2024 we'll reorganize our space and make it healthy and pleasurable again for traveller's.
  
  The first week will be hard working until restore the basic living places and clean out the bushes.
  
  The minimum time request is at least one month, the time needed to the workawayer get used to our space, can understand our philosophy and be really useful and also have fun.

  Acomodação

  Camping tents with rubber mat. Please bring yourself sleeping bag.
  
  Food is not provided. It's possible to buying/cooking yourself food or eating on nearby restaurants. Stove and refrigerator are provided.
  
  Our toilet is needed restoration.
  
  Our kitchen has also gone with the whether simple but full equipped kitchen with a two burner stove, pans, cups, cutlery, etc.
  Its also electricity to charge phones and a fridge.
  
  Do not forget to bring your own tent, all the stuff for sleeping well as sleeping bags, blanket, mat and your hygiene stuff also! If you don't travel with your own tent we can borrow someone but these tents are not the best ones. Its possible to let mosquitos get in or not be completely waterproof when it's raining.
  
  We offer access to tap water, and electricity.
  
  There is no Wi-Fi, but there is 3g signal from VIVO and TIM. There is no good signal from CLARO and OI.
  There are some internet coffees with free WI-FI in Monte Alto (1km distant).

  If you dont travel with your self tent we have some old ones that we can borrow you, but you need to ask if it's available during your stay with us.
  
  If you want to surf or kite you must travel with your own equipment and be sure you're able to do it by your own. There is a kiteschool on the neighborhood if you want to learn it.
