Nicknamed "The Jewel of the Pacific", Valparaíso was declared a world heritage site based upon its improvised urban design and unique architecture. In 1996, the World Monuments Fund declared Valparaíso's unusual system of funicular lifts (steeply inclined carriages) one of the world's 100 most endangered historical treasures. In 1998, grassroots activists convinced the Chilean government and local authorities to apply for UNESCO world heritage status for Valparaíso. Valparaíso was declared a World Heritage Site in 2003. Built upon dozens of steep hillsides overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Valparaíso boasts a labyrinth of streets and cobblestone alleyways, embodying a rich architectural and cultural legacy. Valparaíso is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Mais alguns detalhes

Great kids. Very reliable, honest and respectable. They got along well with everyone in the hostel. Good sense of humor and excellent cooks. They are welcome back anytime.

The longest workaway experience we had. We stayed in this hostel almost 5 months. Work was very satisfied - first we painted a mural, and then we had possibility to learn something about others and as well about ourselves ( hard one;)) during the work like a "menagers" of hostel. The best part of this place is that nobody pushing… read more

So, I went fishing again. I´m sure everything is OK back at the Hostel with those 2 taking care of the place. Excellent.
I feel like it is exactly this experience that makes me want to come back to Valparaiso.
We had the chance to sleep in a small apartment not far from the hostel which was nice for the quiet and the great view we had over the Plan and the ocean! The situation is really great to enjoy the city!

This was our first workaway experience, and I don't think it could have gone better. Kent is a legend, with a very interesting outlook on life. He built the hostel himself over the years, and it is somewhat of a social project. Hearing his ideas for the future is very inspirational.
