    Hello I'm Margo.
I live in the cultural town of Horten, in a historic house named Knatten- a 200 year old green oasis, with panoramic view of the Oslofjord.

Horten is located, only one hour by train from the capital Oslo, in the coastal region of Vestfold.

Knatten is the perfect home for me. My interest in cultural heritage preservation and the restoration of old buildings began 40 years ago. As an experienced dog trainer, dogs are also a big part of everyday life here. My two standard poodles, Bella and Rouge, are extremely lovable, but unfortunately they offer no practical help :)

I am a happy handywoman, with drive and hospitality, who believes that sharing and helping each other makes life to a better place.

While you helping out and participate in daily life, you will have a unique opportunity to experience this beautiful coastal region. Here you find several charming coastal towns, widely known for their Viking history and for a vibrant and lively summerlife. Horten is one of the top festival cities in the country, with festivals for every taste. The locals here are warm and inclusive and easy to get in touch with.

    Hike & Bike
Horten is an official cycling city - and a paradise for cyclists. Maps are available and you’re welcome to borrow my bike.

Don’t miss the Coastal Path — a scenic hiking trail connecting Horten with neighboring towns. Whether you go for a short walk or a full-day trip, the peaceful coastal path is a beautiful experience.

In Vestfold ferrie, train, bus, and plain go in all directions - to all parts of the country.

    Summerlife
Enjoy the lively summerlife in this exciting region - together with thousands of other smiling people. Or enjoy peaceful nature in the forrest or along the sea, (and of course, enjoy my green wild oasis:).
It's all easily accessible from my house. Meet people, make new friendship and have a remarkable time!

I am a handywoman who loves the exchange of knowledge and skills, and convinced that we will learn from each other.

As a dog trainer, I also have four-legged summer guests visiting as well. If you are curious about their behavior and training, you’ll have the chance to learn more about their language, needs, and positive reinforcement methods.

If you like to learn about Norwegian history, and culture heritage, I’m happy to both tell and show you the important parts of Norway’s exciting history that took place right here in Horten around 1820 — with my old house as a part of the story.

    Go to the Vikings!
If you ever want to learn about Norwegian Viking history — do it right here in Horten.

Here you find the Northern Europe’s largest collection of monumental burial mounds from the Late Iron and Viking Age, which are among Norway’s most important national cultural monuments. Located close to the regional large Viking Center with the great Guildhall. The hall is a magnificent reconstruction of one of the royal banquet halls of the Viking Age.

Then follow the Viking “road” to the neighboring towns and see famous full-scale Viking ships.

And if you really get into Viking life, do like thousands of others — join the spectacular Viking Festival at the Viking Center here in Horten.
