Description

Hi, we are Sophie (25, Germany) and Ethan (24, England). We met in New Zealand in 2024, and are soon embarking on our next adventure, travelling all over Asia.
We have had multiple amazing Workaway experiences in New Zealand, mainly working outdoors, engaging with locals and picking up new skills along the way.
In our free time, we love to go on hikes, exploring local areas, or just having a relaxed afternoon reading a good book.
We always look forward to learning about local cultures and traditions, and we hope you can give us some recommendations for things to do!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Sophie:
I started working when I was 16 in a little bakery. During that time I also volunteered at my local church for their holiday programs for kids where I help organize the games/activities and played with the children. The last two years I worked in retail (organic grocery store) and learned to take a lot of responsibility. I’m a tidy and organized person. I’m good with children and pets. I have a lot of customer service experience and I also worked in a hotel and restaurant for 9 month. While working as a housekeeper I gained a lot of experience in making beds, cleaning kitchen and bathrooms.

Ethan:
Most recently, I have been working as a gardener/grounds keeper for my local cemetery in the UK. It has been a mostly physical role. Here, I spent a lot of time weeding and planting. I also leant how to use various gardening tools, such as a strimmer, lawn mowers, and a hedge trimmer.
I had plenty of similar roles in New Zealand, such as being a general labourer at a construction company, and picking cherries at a cherry farm. These tended to be long, laborious jobs, but are the kind of jobs I tend to like the most.
I love animals and have grown up with pets all my life. I have also done Workaways where I have needed to care for animals.

Sophie and Ethan stayed with us for a week and worked diligently at every task we gave them - mostly garden maintenance, weeding and moving mulch. They were polite, punctual and left their rooms clean and tidy. We wish them well for their onward kiwi adventures.

We really enjoyed your stay with Julie and Jeff. The whole family was very welcoming. They gave us great tips on what to do around. The work was simple and not too much. Julie is a great cook and made some really yummy food. We would 100% recommend staying with them.

We enjoyed hosting Sophie & Ethan for one week. They are both very friendly and easy to have around.
They worked very hard weeding, hedge trimming, weed eating, washing down our house and oiling our outdoor furniture.
We wish them well with their future travels & recommend them to other workaway hosts.
