On my very first Workaway trip, I had the opportunity to spend my first two weeks with Olga and Ole. The main focus was caring for the many animals that are an essential part of the adventure park they run. Almost all the animals here are tame and enjoy being around people. My other tasks included: chopping firewood, helping with various DIY projects, and demolishing a small, old goose house (that was fun!). For the remaining tasks, great care is taken to ensure they suit you; otherwise, you'll be assigned different ones. There's plenty to do, but the workload shouldn't be too much for anyone; I could have done even more in some parts. Olga and Ole are incredibly nice people, and I got along with them very well! Always friendly, very outgoing, and curious. I had two wonderful weeks with them. The surroundings are simply amazing and there's a beautiful beach nearby that you can even drive along by car.

Filippo is a lovely guy, he’s friendly, respectful, easy going and competed all the tasks that we have him. He did a great job painting our guest room and helped put a lot around the house. We have 3 young kids and he was good around them too. We would recommend Filippo to other hosts and would be happy to have him back if we need more work.

Smilla ist the greatest workawayer that you can wish for! She stayed in my house longer than actually planned, and I certainly didn’t want to let her go at all 😅 because having her support was incredibly precious. Smilla is an extremely kind and smart woman, most sincere and reliable. Her help was very efficient. She is very organized and a self starter. She sees when there is something to do, gets it done and is very respectful at the same time. She helped me with a move, but most importantly did a great job renovating/ painting indoor and outdoors with different jobs around the house: wooden panels, a wooden door, a metal fence. Smilla, I wish you the greatest and most enriching experiences during your travels and of course happily welcome you back anytime you wish. I am sure you will make great friends everywhere you go- you are simply so amazing to have around 🥰 the best of Luck to you always 🍀🍀🍀🍀💜

It was a pleasure to share a few days with Ellen & Thea. She was enjoying a break from her job, traveling south Spain. She's friendly, easy-going, and adaptable. You can rely on her and the well-behaved dog. I hope you are having a good time wherever you are here in Spain.

I had a great time at Anssi’s place! He is a very cool and funny guy and he is full of stories. I stayed for about a week and helped him organise his storage and did some shovelling and cutting some firewood. We went snow machining, ice fishing and had good sauna. He was a great host and I hope to return some day!

I stayed a bit more than 3 weeks in Kelaa teaching French, including some time during Ramadan. Teaching was a good experience, the students were highly motivated and involved. Nonetheless, it was only a few hours a week, so if you want to keep busy you'll have to make to make friends around. Communication was fast and easy with Hassan. Kelaa is a none touristy city so there is not so much to do but you'll be free to discover Marrocan life in a genuine way. The staff was overall very kind and tried to provide us with whatever we need. Thanks to Yassine especially;) The accommodation is basic but fine. Personally I was overall happy with my stay there. I sometimes wished to be have more to do and be more involved with the teaching, other than that it was all good !

Hi Kasey, Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful feedback. We are truly happy to hear that you had such a meaningful experience. We also really enjoyed having you here. You have been such a helpful and wonderful volunteer, your mural is absolutely amazing and has become a special part of this place. The children were so happy with the face painting you taught them, it was such a joyful moment for all of us. It means a lot to us that you embraced the experience, from learning Batak script to connecting with the local community. We hope to see you again someday, Kasey. You will always be part of this place 🤍 Warm regards, Daniel, Jupita, and William

Elias stayed with us for the whole of March along with another Workawayer. He is a social, friendly person and settled into our routine very well. While Elias had no experience he made up for it in willingness and enthusiasm. During March they planted over 150 bare root bushes, built a new shed for the honesty box ‘egg shed’, looked after the hens, feeding , cleaning and egg collecting. Walking and playing with our 3 dogs as well. Elias also got stuck into helping building marquee tents for a bbq party weekend…. Always willing to help It was a pleasure to host Elias and I’d recommend him happily

I stayed at the shelter for about four weeks. There were around 80 dogs and two cats. It was a wonderful experience, and I am very grateful for everything Liljana does for animal welfare in Albania every day. She has a big heart for both the dogs and the volunteers. She is very kind and does her best to create a welcoming, home-like atmosphere at the shelter. From time to time, she would cook for everyone, bring food to share, or invite us to special events. Whenever problems occurred, she tried to find a solution: for example, when the washing machine at the shelter was out of order, she kindly offered to do our laundry at her house. Liljana is truly appreciative of any help and is a very warm-hearted person. The work mainly involves cleaning the kennels, unless you have other skills such as gardening or crafting. In that case, you are more than welcome to choose tasks that match your abilities and contribute in your own way. I helped with cleaning around the house and also supported communication, organization, and caring for the dogs. For me, the dogs were the best part—they were incredibly grateful for any attention they received. I would also like to thank Liljana for all her efforts over the years, as well as Lili, the shelter worker, for taking care of the animals every single day. Since hosting volunteers is still relatively new for Liljana, there are some challenges at the shelter, mainly related to organization, management, and communication, which can sometimes lead to misunderstandings. Not everyone is always informed of the same rules or has equal access to updates, such as room access or daily routines. This is understandable for someone new to hosting, and Liljana is very open to feedback and eager to improve. I would personally be happy to help with organizing some house and shelter rules from afar and would love to visit the shelter again in the future.

It was a pleasure to host Glen. He was respectful, polite and a huge asset. It was great to share stories and learn from each other. It was my first workaway so was a bit nervous hosting, but I felt at ease with Glen. He has a calm and kind manner and is able to read the room appropriately. Would not hesitate to have him back again or recommend to others. A very positive experience first workaway experience for my daughter and I.

From the very first moment when Clara crossed our threshold, she became a member of our family. :) There was nothing what she could not handle and working with her was super easy. Boys felt in love with her as she spend lots of time sitting them (especially Hugo). Beside many tasks, she took gorgeous photos of our goats for promoting our little farm easier and also cooked delicious meals and bake stunning cake. Clara helped Libor with german language. We do wish she could stay with us longer and we really hope to see each other again!
