Description
We are an artist residence and aquatic plants farm by the river, located 21km away form Santa Marta very close to the Tairona Park. There are workshops for creatives and lots of nature to explore.

Travellers can improve their spanish, meet new people (or sometimes can be just you), explore the the river and the area, work on their creative projects, sometimes is possible to learn screen printing and other crafts or be part of a creative workshop if there is any available. We are also in a very strategic places close to many natural attraction, going by foot or bus.

I have a workshop with electric tools, feel free to be creative) The residence: If you are a person with design,painting and creativity skills for murals and decoration we have 2 workshops. let us know maybe we need you. If you have a page to show is your skills would be awesome. Other kind of tasks depending on the moment: gardening, computer, photography, carrying, cutting, cleaning. There is also a printing business, you can help with cutting patterns, cutting stickers, or dying fabric.
Farm:
Clean the paths, maintenance, get sand from the river, carrying sand, planting, clean water plants tanks.

The acomodation is in a room with bunk beds or a tent. You may be sharing with other people. If you bring a tent is also possible.

PLEASE READ!!!! You need to have travel insurance. the house is a bit close to a main road, sometimes can be loud. We have internet at the moment but you can also buy a Sim card from Claro it's cheap and you have internet at anytime in the area. There are no atm in this area, bring enough money. Is better to buy the food in a supermarket in the city before you arrive, here you don't find a variety of products. If your main focus is a cultural exchange, depending of the season and situation, there can or can not be people to interact with, be aware that you may can be the only person living in your area. Right in front of the farm you can take a bus tha can bring you to Tairona park, Palomino, Hostels and other atractions. We have a river as a border, it's all yours!! Go explore an refresh. :) If you are a creativ person we have an art studio were you have the space to paint or build something and if you like bushcraft, the farm provide you the material you may need. Fishing in the river is also a good option to pass the time. You can eat from our fruits llike mango, coconut, starfruit... If you are coming from any big city it's better to buy your food there and bring it.

Rainer is a wonderful host, kind and easygoing. My time volunteering here I helped with the screen printing business and it was a pleasure to be in a creative environment making products and learning different skills. The working hours are flexible and I was able to visit lots of beaches along the coast and spend time enjoying the river.

Rainer is a legend, good value, kind, creative and attentive to anything you might need. I spent a week there and the schedule is very flexible which allowed me to easily do a number of different day trips, and the communication was great. Very happy with James and his results, he is skilled in woodworking. For long time I wanted someone that can build me a can crusher and he did it! The working hours were very flexible so he manage his schedule for half day trips. I recommend this man even if its just for a week is a totally win.

It's very cozy and enjoyable place with lot of activity to do (entrance of Tayrona Park is just 15min away).
I've worked at the fish farm in the morning 3 hours each day in the first week and in the second one I've done some maintenance jobs around the house.

We had a great time visiting and Rainer was really nice and helpful. He speaks perfect English if you are not fluent in Spanish. The new hostel is really clean and pretty and there is a lot to do nearby (Palomino, Costeño, and more). There are facilities for working on projects and art if you want too.

Adrianne is a sweet, a bit shy and not so talkative person, stayed for a bit more than a week, she helped painting some decorations patterns with good results and the privilege of a flexible schedule. this guy is a hero! he is the kind of guy with multi skills. Lukas heped us building furniture he build 2 sets of lockers one table and a door for the hostel. The time i spend was really great. Rainer, his family and employees are super nice and friendly. The location is close to Tayrona, so its perfect for hikes in the days of or even after work. The accomodation in the guest house is pretty good. I had a lot fun working there with the other volunteers. Can absolutely reccomend this place!

Willem was good Help in the farm, he have woodworking skills so I gave him the task to build some shelf, we learned that work with bamboo is a bit tricky, he is also flexible to work helping carrying building material in a hot and humid condition. My time at the fish farm, was a blast. Rainer is a really sweet, funny and friendly guy. Unfortunately he left the farm after only few days after my arrival, but while he was still there he took me on some small road trips around the area and showed me some amazing spots.
