Andrea came to help us on our farm in January. He was a fine young man,very interested in our farm life and our animals. We had lots of interesting conversations and entertained each other with life stories. He worked very well with us, planting lots of new fruit trees and laying concrete bases for new structures around the farm. He produced the most luscious Tiramisu, from his grandmother's secret recipe. He is a hard working young man who is welcome back anytime.

Well, they know already everything but I have to make it public. I had a AWESOME stay on Hardy Island with those lovely people. At first, I had to stay one week but for many reasons I extended. First the hosts, a charming and thoughtful couple. They make me very comfortable directly and took care of me as I was part of the family. I met their friends, a lively community very funny. They know how to laugh and we had great talks. I enjoyed very much working for and with them on their land. Secondly, the place of course. A hidden gem, a wonderful and luxurious Island. I don't wich I prefer between the forest and the bay. The view from the big tent I stayed was stunning. Thirdly must be the activities, the tasks I did was very satisfying, pressure wash, painting, building construction outdoor, mowing. Working there was fare and enjoyable. After working, more fun, kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming hiking on the island but also just chilling with Magda and Krzys or enjoy the nice spot with breathtaking view on the Jervis Inlet. I stayed in a big tent very comfy and apart from the main house. I loved every single meal with them, it was delicious and Magda make sure to feed you with care. Thanks again for this unbelievable stay. I probably come back a day. If you are here and you doubt to stay there, don't and send a message to those great guys! Nico

Anouk and Hugo were such a pleasant company to be around. Always ready to help out with everything, cooking yummy french specialties, planting hundreds of young plants (which are growing well still), taking the waste to the dump, digging deep trenches and being a valuable part of the community. Merci and come back soon!

Lida was great. My apologies for being late in responding. Lida taught me a great skill of hers AI. I showed her how to crochet. We attended painting classes together as well. I certainly cannot fzult her and she was extremely helpful with the farm work and animal husbandry. I hope she will come back. I wish her all the best in her studies. Philip abd Joelke

Giedrius stayed with me for about a week during 2023 as part of a Workaway exchange. He was a quiet, polite and rather reserved young man who helped with stock-taking tools and some gardening and weeding tasks around the property. He carried out the tasks assigned to him conscientiously and was easy to have around. Although his stay ended earlier than originally planned because he decided to continue his travels and move on to another host, I appreciated the help he provided during his time here. Based on my experience, G was respectful, willing to help, and contributed positively during his stay. I wish him all the best with his future travels and projects.

Thank you Brent and Wanda for our amazing first Workaway experience in Whangarei. We had planned to stay there initially for a week, but ended up doing 2 weeks. The amount of learning about farming, gardening and any other topic was incredible as Brent and Wanda are incredibly knowledgeable.

 Regarding the work: 
 They used a nice and structured system in which they had prepared a list of tasks that would need to be done in their garden. All of the tasks were well instructed and questions could be asked at any time, if they trusted you with the task at hand you could just do it fully on your own. The days always started at the same time, with a coffee break, finishing at lunch time and then having dinner around 5:30. We’ve used an assembly of, for us, new tools and tricks and always had a dynamic range of tasks that kept us motivated to keep going. A couple of days during our stay we also worked with Brent at a friend’s place assisting in creating a ‘vineyard’ like structure. During our free time: We spend a lot of our free time around the house, having conversations with Brent and Wanda or just relaxing in our room as they offered good WiFi. The room itself had a large bed, a separate toilet and bathroom just for our own use which was great. During your stay you can lend their bicycles (or take the bus) and get into Whangarei, a city that offers a great range of things to do. In our stay, Wanda took us to the lovely glow worms, Brent took us to the planetarium, we cycled around the city, waterfall, gym and rented a car for a 3 day road trip through the Northlands. We would highly recommend a stay at Brent and Wanda’s place, it will give you memories you’ll never forget.

We appreciated Yasmine immensely. She was very precise, detailed oriented, always cheerful, hard working. Enjoyed having specific directions on what needed to be done and always did it. She did lots of garden work but also some ceramic work - covering our pizza oven with a beautiful mosaic - and some work on our wood benches. She was also a very nice person to have around, usually would have lunch with us whether we spoke Italian or English. We loved having her here and she definitely became part of our little community. I have no doubt that she would be a real asset for anyone hosting her! Da Miriam e Bernardo and all the staff

Nancy & Seb were up for doing any task - they did it well and were able to work under their own initiative. They took super care of our dog Bronson including an overnight stay at our own home where they treated our home as if it were their own. Super recommended

Lana was an absolute joy to host and made a massive positive impact on our home. She is a multi-talented volunteer who truly goes above and beyond in every task.During her stay, she painted an absolutely amazing mural that completely transformed our space. Beyond her incredible artistry, she was always eager to help around the kitchen and took wonderful, compassionate care of both my mom and our dogs.She balances her work perfectly. When she is working, she is incredibly focused and driven. Yet, she remains highly attentive, warm, and welcoming to other volunteers and guests. To top it all off, she has a unique and refreshing sense of humor that brought so much laughter to our days.We would welcome her back anytime without hesitation. I highly recommend her to any future host looking for a dedicated, talented, and delightful spirit!

Aga lived with us for almost six months. Part of the time she was conducting research at the University of Utrecht, and part of the time she worked with us as a Workaway volunteer. It was a pleasure to have Aga stay with us. She was always cheerful, friendly, and extremely helpful. She sanded and painted windows, worked in the garden doing tasks such as carrying heavy branches and weeding, and also helped in the vegetable garden. In addition, she assisted us with various household chores. On several occasions, she prepared delicious Polish meals for us. You only need to explain something to Aga once, and she immediately understands what needs to be done. If she needs additional information, she asks exactly the right questions. Aga works very independently and pays great attention to detail. Aga fit perfectly into our family and enjoyed living together with our daughter in the guest house. Having her with us was a wonderful experience, and we can wholeheartedly recommend her.

Isla came to stay with us at the end of May through June. She worked very hard on the ranch and was a very good rider. Isla did some cooking while here, we had home made pizzas and banana cake! Isla did some garden work, lots of weeding. She had a great attitude and a smiley face, which was wonderful. Isla made good use of her time with us and did a trip to Alicante. Nothing was too much trouble and we enjoyed her company while she was here. Isla is a super, friendly, happy girl and it was a pleasure to have her here.

I had the most amazing stay with Marina, Liline and Christophe, and I will always remember this time with warmth in my heart! I joined them for 5 months, during which I had the chance to help with a wide variety of tasks and acquire many skills - I was painting the window frames, helping with garden upkeeping and house chores as well as working at the vegetable garden. Aside from work, I had a chance to experience a genuine cultural exchange thanks to all the efforts my hosts made to introduce me to Dutch culture through family stories, celebrating public holidays together and cooking traditional food. I also greatly enjoyed the beautiful natural area where house is located, with lush greenery and sound of birds singing. I wholeheartedly recommend this host and hope to come back myself one day!☀️

Sorry it took me forever to write a review! Don and Davina were the sweetest hosts. I miss them dearly. It was so nice learning all about NZ and the Māori peoples. There are beautiful hikes nearby and Raglan is an easy bus from Hamilton station. So lovely hanging with you and the kiddos! Would love to go back¨̮

This was our first experience as a host and what a luck we had that Steffi came to help us. From the first moment we knew this will work for us both. She is enthousiastic, funny to be with, a great help around the house. Thank you so much Steffi for being with us. Our conversations, your help, you being around. Jeremiah is extremely knowledgeable in all things agriculture as well as very fun to hang out with. I feel like I learned so much from him and had a great time with lots of laughs. Highly recommend Jeremiah!

What loverly time shared with Nadine & Saskia… I was especially excited to see the benefits of the Workaway platform supporting their unique travel situation ~ all round benefits to everyone!! Our gardens (while weedy) was a heavenly sanctuary compared to what they may experience at home in Oz (we did confirmed “everything there wants to kill yah!”🤣) - so grateful to have help with my gardening driveway project (now all tidy and replanted) Such Lovely guests and contentious contributors in the home! It was a pleasure to host Aljaž in our project. He is a very helpful, respectful, and kind soul. He helped us with building using natural materials and never hesitated to carry heavy loads or support wherever help was needed. When he joined the kitchen team, he prepared amazing meals for everyone. Aljaž adapted well to our house rules and always respected our way of living. We truly enjoyed every moment spent with him — working together, sharing meals, and exchanging ideas and experiences. We are very grateful that we met Aljaž, and he is always welcome back at our place. I highly recommend any host to take the opportunity to meet and host him.
