Description
We are looking for a Farm Sitter in November 2025
Olá a todos ! My partner and I are looking for someone to take care of our little farm, including six cats, a dog and three goats, while we are visiting his family in Brazil from 30/10/25 to 28/11/25 (4 weeks). We moved to Portugal two years ago to live a more sustainable life surrounded by nature. Since then, we've built a tiny house, planted a small vineyard, and started growing our own food. If you enjoy being in nature and taking care of animals, this might be a great opportunity for you to experience off-grid living.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

You'll have the chance to experience life in a less touristy part of Portugal, try delicious local food (we highly recommend Retiro dos Pacatos in Malhou) and engage with the people in the village.
Aide
You'll be responsible for feeding the animals in the morning and evening, making sure they have enough water throughout the day, and keeping an eye on the goats — they’re curious and sometimes try to escape! Casper, our dog, loves to play and the cats enjoy as many cuddles as you´re willing to give. Also our goats - Vito, Rose and Daisy - like to be petted and groomed.
Apart from taking care of our animals, there´s always work to do - just ask :-)Langues parlées

You will stay in an off-grid tiny house on 3 acres of land with olive trees and fruit trees, a veggie patch and a small vineyard. The 15m2 tiny house offers a double bed with two drawers, a cloth rack, an extendable table with four chairs, and a kitchen bench with a stove and a sink as well as a mini fridge. The lights and electronic devices are powered by solar energy, and water is collected from rain or the well in the village nearby. There is also a bathroom with a shower inside and a composting toilet outside.
Life on the land is peaceful and quiet, perfect to unwind and relax. It´s a simplistic life where you mainly worry about the basics like food, water and waste. To go shopping, you can take the bike to the mini market in the village or drive 15 minutes by car to the next town, where you have all the necessities like supermarkets (Intermarche, Continente, Lidl), pharmacies, a hospital, a veterinarian, and a laundromat, etc. Depending on your water consumption, you might need to refill some freshwater canisters at the well in the village. The grey water is used to water the plants.Autres infos...
Situated at the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park, a vast nature preserve with trails and caves, such as the world-famous Mira d´Aire, the region offers both outdoor and cultural activities. While the area is not a typical tourist destination but rural countryside, many cultural attractions are less than an hour´s drive away, e.g. the Monasteries of Alcobaca and Batalha, the Convent of Christ in Tomar and the Sanctuary of Fatima. The very popular beach of Nazaré, a fishing town known for its scenic cliff views, delicious seafood and world-class surfing, is also just 60 km away.

We have internet access and electricity in our tiny house, but power is limited to a single solar panel that recharges our battery system. All applications run off this setup, so energy availability depends heavily on the weather. On rainy or overcast days, you may experience power shortages depending on your usage. Because of this, working remotely full-time—especially with a fixed schedule—can be risky unless you're flexible and able to adjust your work around the weather conditions ;-)
Espace pour garer des vans
If you have a small caravan, you're welcome to park inside our little forest. Please note: the entry road is quite bumpy, and it can get muddy when it rains.
