    Description

    Hi!

    We are a French-Kiwi couple living in Nice, in the beautiful South of France, close to the Mediterranean Sea. We love meeting people from different cultures, sharing experiences, good food and discovering new ways of life.

    Our home is a mix of French and New Zealand cultures. My wife is originally from New Zealand and became French, with Māori and Irish roots. We enjoy cultural exchanges, learning languages and sharing stories from around the world.

    We are also part of a local pottery association and are currently developing our own ceramics workshop, with a dedicated space, pottery wheels and a kiln. Creativity, craftsmanship and community are important parts of our daily life.

    Living in Nice means enjoying the best of the French Riviera: sunny beaches, colourful markets, charming villages, hiking trails in the mountains and a unique Mediterranean lifestyle. There is always something to discover, whether you enjoy nature, culture, food or simply a relaxed way of life.

    The main reason we are looking for a Workawayer is to help us take care of our dog, North, when we are away.

    North is a 9-year-old Boston Terrier. He is an adorable, affectionate and very playful dog. He can be a little shy at first with new people, but once he trusts you, he becomes a wonderful companion who loves attention, games and being around people. He is sometimes a little crazy and full of energy (in a funny way!), but he is also very sweet and easy to love.

    We are looking for someone kind, patient and responsible who will enjoy spending time with him, taking him for walks, playing with him and giving him the affection he loves.

    If you love dogs, creativity, cultural exchanges and authentic experiences, we would be happy to welcome you into our home!

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

    During your stay, you will have the opportunity to experience everyday life in Nice and discover the authentic side of the French Riviera.

    We live in Nice, a beautiful city between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains, with amazing beaches, colourful markets, old streets, local food, cultural events and many opportunities for hiking and exploring the surrounding area. From here, it is easy to discover places like the old villages of the hinterland, Monaco, the Alps or even Italy for a day trip.

    We are also involved in a local pottery association, which is an important part of our community life. Depending on the timing of your stay, you may have the chance to meet local people, discover the world of ceramics and share creative moments in our workshop.

    We love meeting people from different cultures, sharing meals, conversations and experiences. We would be happy to introduce you to French culture, our way of life and the places we love around Nice.

    By taking care of North, you will not just be looking after a dog: you will become part of our daily life, discover our local community and experience a more authentic side of the French Riviera.

    The main help we are looking for is taking care of our lovely dog, North, when we are away.

    North is a 9-year-old Boston Terrier who loves company, walks, playtime and affection. He is very sweet and easy-going, but he can be a little shy when meeting new people, so we are looking for someone patient and gentle who will take the time to build trust with him.

    The main tasks will be:

    * spending time with North and keeping him company;
    * taking him for daily walks;
    * playing with him and giving him attention;
    * feeding him and following his usual routine;
    * making sure he feels safe and comfortable while we are away.

    Depending on the timing, there may also be some small everyday tasks around the house, like keeping things tidy and helping maintain the place as you would your own home.

    You will not be expected to take care of any other animals or do heavy work. The most important thing for us is finding someone who genuinely enjoys being around dogs and who will treat North like a member of their own family.

    Beyond pet sitting, we also love cultural exchanges. We would be happy to welcome people who would like to practise languages together, share their culture and help us improve our Spanish, Japanese or Māori. We also have a pottery workshop through our local association, and depending on the timing of your stay and your interests, there may be opportunities to discover ceramics and participate in creative projects.

    In return, you will have the opportunity to experience life in Nice, discover our local area, meet local people and enjoy a friendly, creative environment.

    Cet hôte propose un échange linguistique
    We are a French and New Zealand couple, and we love cultural exchange through languages, food, stories and everyday life. French is our daily language, and my wife is a New Zealand citizen who became French. She has Māori and Irish roots, so our home is naturally a mix of different cultures and backgrounds. We both enjoy learning languages. We have been studying Japanese for more than 10 years, although we unfortunately don't have many opportunities to practise it in everyday life. We have also started learning Spanish recently, and my wife has reconnected with the Māori language and is learning it again. We would love to exchange languages with travellers from all over the world: practising conversations, learning expressions from your country, sharing stories and discovering different cultures. For us, language learning is not only about grammar or vocabulary — it is about connecting with people and understanding their culture.

  • Hébergement

    Hébergement

    You will have your own private bedroom with a comfortable queen-size bed, in our apartment in Nice.

    Our apartment is cosy and not very large (57 m²), but it is a warm and friendly place to live. We also have a 10 m² balcony where you can enjoy a coffee, relax, read or simply spend some time outdoors.

    The apartment is located in the Saint-Roch neighbourhood, a lively and authentic part of Nice, away from the busiest tourist areas. You will be around 20 minutes by tram from the city centre and the famous Old Town (Vieux-Nice), and about 15 minutes walking from Riquier train station, making it easy to explore Nice and the surrounding area.

    Regarding food, it depends on the type of stay.
    If you are staying with us for a cultural exchange or language practice, we will be happy to share meals together when our schedules allow it, cook together and introduce you to French food and local specialities.

    If you are staying with North while we are away, you will be responsible for your own meals and groceries. There is a local market just nearby, as well as supermarkets and shops within walking distance, so it is easy to buy fresh ingredients and cook at home.

    You will be welcomed as part of our home, with your own private space and the opportunity to experience everyday life in Nice.

    Autres infos...

    Nice is a wonderful place to explore, and there is plenty to do during your free time.

    You can enjoy the Mediterranean lifestyle: walking along the Promenade des Anglais, discovering the colourful streets of Vieux-Nice, visiting local markets, swimming in the sea, hiking in the surrounding hills and mountains, or exploring beautiful places nearby such as Monaco, Menton, Antibes, Cannes and the villages of the hinterland.

    Public transportation is very convenient from our place. The tram is a few minutes away and allows you to easily reach the city centre. From Riquier train station, you can also take trains along the coast and discover many places without a car.

    We live a quiet and simple life. We love good food, creativity, languages and cultural exchanges. We appreciate people who are respectful of our home, keep shared spaces clean and enjoy sharing moments together.

    A little bit more about our home: we also live with my wife's son, Javier, who is an important part of our family life. He has a physical disability and uses a wheelchair.

    We are a welcoming and inclusive household, and we appreciate people who are respectful, open-minded and comfortable sharing everyday life with different people and backgrounds. Javier is independent in his daily life, and we are not looking for any specific help or care related to his disability — he is simply a member of our family and our home.

    A few things to know:

    * North is part of our family, so kindness, patience and respect towards him are very important to us.
    * Our apartment is non-smoking.
    * We value open communication and believe that the best experiences come from mutual respect and curiosity.

    We hope you will enjoy your stay with us and discover a different side of Nice: not only as a tourist destination, but as a place where people live, create and share.

We have a high-speed fibre internet connection, and we can provide an additional screen if you need a more comfortable setup for working. Our apartment is a shared living space, so we appreciate a good balance between work, personal time and social moments. We are happy to welcome people who work remotely, as long as they also enjoy sharing experiences and respecting the rhythm of our home. If you are staying with North while we are away, you will have a quiet place where you can work while keeping him company. He is actually a great coworking companion! 😊

    North (9 ans)

    North is our lovely 9-year-old Boston Terrier and an important member of our family.

    He is affectionate, playful and full of personality. He loves being around people, going for walks, playing and receiving attention. Despite his age, he still has a lot of energy and can sometimes be a little crazy and funny — he definitely keeps us smiling!

    North can be a little shy when meeting new people, especially at first, but once he feels comfortable, he becomes a very loyal and loving companion. A little patience and kindness are all he needs to build trust.

    He enjoys a simple routine: walks, meals, playtime, naps and being close to his humans. He is not a difficult dog, but he does need someone who will enjoy spending time with him and treat him as part of the family.

    If you love dogs, you will probably fall in love with North very quickly! 🐾
