Description
We are a young family building a yoga retreat space In the heart of zona sul, Rio de Janeiro at the foot of Christ the redeemer with a garden filled with tropical trees and plants. The area of the land is over 1000m2 and the buildings are turn of the century with lots of history. It is a big project and we are looking for volunteers with a pair of strong hands to help renovate the place. This will involve painting, sanding, assisting, cleaning with some woodwork and cement work. Depending on your capabilities and enthusiasm there maybe some independent paid projects ....Electricians and anyone with construction experience more than welcome! We are literally next to the square for christ the redeemer and 20mins walk to Flamengo beach. Ipanema is 15mins in uber. The house is in a safe area and submersed in the forest. We welcome, musicians, artists as well as yoga practitioners. It is an alcohol free property.

We are Portuguese, English and Spanish speakers. In this location you are immersed in the local culture but also have access to beautiful touristic locations . paid work available depending skills.

We are looking for 1 or 2 volunteers (can be a couple). Reform, sanding, painting, help in specific projects, cleaning.

Kris is a wonderful person to have as a volunteer, easy going and fun, cheerful (even when it's raining) and very skillful with wood particularly. She is very capable and a great asset on any project....highly recommend her as a volunteer.

We spent three beautiful weeks together! We shared time, experiences, ideas and lots of laughs! Very kind and helpful and above all with a big heart full of love. Paul is a hard worker, while Elise is a great yoga teacher and prepares delicious vegetarian meals. If we go back to Gran Canaria for sure we will visit them!
