Description
We are Phil and Ruth, a married couple in our late seventies. We have been together for 55 years and, although we are no longer young, we remain active, independent and busy.
We lived near Cheltenham in the UK before moving to France 25 years ago. France has always been a great love of ours — its culture, food, wine and way of life. Phil was the founder and editor of France Magazine, while I worked as a manager for a French holiday company, so we have spent many years travelling around France and getting to know the country well.
We now live in an old Gascony farmhouse in the countryside, with wonderful open views stretching towards the Pyrenees. It is a peaceful and beautiful setting, but we are also within easy reach of local villages, markets and the many things there are to discover in this part of southwest France.
We welcome a friendly, reliable couple to stay with us for about a week and help with some light gardening and general house maintenance. Nothing too strenuous — we welcome people who are happy to get stuck in, take some responsibility and enjoy being outdoors and around an old country house.
You will have your own comfortable balcony suite, consisting of a twin bedroom, a double bedroom and your own shower room, giving you plenty of private space.
Breakfast is provided, and we will invite you to join us for lunch and dinner. We enjoy good conversation and meeting people from different backgrounds, and would be very happy to share our experiences of living in France, as well as our knowledge of the local area, places to visit, markets, restaurants and things to do.
We are hoping to find a couple who will enjoy not only helping us with a few practical jobs, but also the experience of sharing a little of our life in rural Gascony. In return, we offer a relaxed home, comfortable private accommodation, good food and plenty of local knowledge — and, of course, those wonderful views of the Pyrenees. -

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
One of the great pleasures of hosting Workaway visitors will be the opportunity to exchange cultures, experiences and ideas. We enjoy sharing the history and traditions of France, visiting local markets, villages and festivals, and introducing guests to typical French food and wines. We are also happy to share our own English heritage and interests. We hope to learn about our visitors' cultures, languages and lives in return, creating lasting friendships through conversation, shared meals and enjoyable days spent working together.

Aide
We welcome Workaways to help with light gardening tasks and general light maintenance tasks around the house. It would be necessary to have a vehicle as we are in a very rural position — 5 minutes to the nearest small town, 45 minutes to the large towns of Auch or Tarbes and a little over an hour to the Pyrenean peaks.
