Description
Hi there! :)
I'm Dirk, and I'm in the process of turning a charming property in the Ammerland region into a unique guesthouse and community space. The property has a rich history, and we are in the exciting phase of renovating, redecorating, and preparing the grounds for future guests.
We’re currently focused on tasks like cleaning up spaces, and designing beautiful, cozy apartments that will eventually be listed on different hosting platforms. There’s a lot to do, and we love to bring in creative ideas! If you have an eye for design, enjoy hands-on work, and want to experience rural life in Northern Germany, we’d love to have you join us.
You’ll be working closely with me, my family, and our small but friendly team. Together, we aim to create a welcoming retreat that blends nature, comfort, and sustainability.
What I love about this place is its peaceful setting, surrounded by nature. In fact, the beautiful lake "Zwischenahner Meer" is just a 15-minute bike ride away, and I’ll make sure you have a bike to explore the area. I’m sure you’ll enjoy being part of this project, both in terms of the work and the surroundings.
!!!!! To work with me, the following requirements must be met:
- Tax Identification Number (Steuer-ID): You need a valid Tax ID for registration as a Minijobber in Germany.
- Health Insurance: It is required that you have valid health insurance, either a German insurance or an international travel insurance that is valid in Germany.
- Identification: Please bring a valid form of ID (e.g., ID card or passport).
- Contract: We will sign a simple work contract that outlines your tasks, working hours, and compensation.
And please also consider:
- You would need to take care of meals yourself, as this is a paid job. Of course, you'll have a kitchen available. Either a common kitchen in the main-house or a kitchen for yourself in your apartment. depends :)
- To buy groceries you need to drive along a busy street. To the next supermarket, it takes about 10 minutes with the bicycle (which I will provide). So it would be great, if you could either bring a car (especially in winter) or you don't mind cycling in the rain sometimes ;)
One project at the guesthouse is the creation of a cycling-track in the backyard to connect the house to a cycle-lane which is located a bit behind the house, but at the moment, there is no direct connection to the cycling-lane.
- Me and my family don't directly live in the house, I just work here. So mostly myself (and sometimes my family) will come during the workday, and in the afternoon I will leave to my actual home. That means, most of the time, you will be by yourself in the house & the area, especially in the evenings and at night. I have a busy family-life and won't be around all the time, as I need to bring the kids to school and fetch them, and so on and so on. To make it less "lonely", the plan is that several workawayers will stay in the house at the same time, so there is always a small team of friendly people around. I will make sure that there are community spaces: rooms that all workawayers can use commonly, e.g. a cozy room with billard and a fireplace.
Still, even though it won't be every day, I will organize some common events, trips and activities to experience the local culture, so you'll get a taste of that, as well. I promise, I'll do my best :)
If all that is fine for you, you’ll get comfortable accommodations, a fair salary (13€/h), and a chance to immerse yourself in local culture. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to shape parts of the property with your own creativity. We’re open to new ideas, and your input will be valued as we bring this place to life.
Looking forward to working and creating with you!Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

We believe in building a community through shared experiences. As part of our team, you’ll not only contribute to our growing project but also enjoy a rich cultural exchange that connects you to the local traditions, nature, and people of the Ammerland region.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Social activities: I have small kids, so I won't be around the whole time ;) But when possible, I'd love to join for cozy gatherings in the evenings around the fireplace or in the garden. You’ll have the chance to meet locals, including neighbors and friends who are involved in the project. We might take spontaneous trips to the nearby Zwischenahner Meer, explore local markets, or visit nearby cultural sites.
- Skills and knowledge sharing: I have a background in digital marketing & project management, and I’m happy to share insights about running a business, designing eco-friendly spaces, and integrating technology into traditional settings. You’ll also learn about the concept behind our hospitality-concept and our commitment to sustainability.
- Cultural immersion: You’ll get a taste of rural life in Northern Germany and experience the beauty of nature. You can also visit the nearby University city Oldenburg with a rich cultural life :)
- You’ll also learn about the unique environment and biodiversity of the Ammerland, especially as we expand our apple orchards and gardens.
What we hope to learn from you:
Hosting people from different cultures enriches us as a team. We’re curious to hear your ideas, share stories about your home country, and learn about your traditions. We believe in the mutual benefit of cultural exchange and hope you bring your own unique perspective to our guest-house and gardens! :)
We look forward to creating lasting memories and building something special together.L’hôte offre un salaire correspondant au salaire minimum

We’re looking for enthusiastic and creative individuals to join us as we transform the property into a beautiful guesthouse and community space. If you enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, and making spaces more welcoming, this could be a great fit for you!
Here are some of the tasks we’d love your help with:
- General maintenance and renovation: We have several areas of the property that need refreshing—cleaning, painting, setting up furniture, and light repairs. Your creativity is welcome as we design cozy, functional spaces for guests.
- Landscaping and gardening: In wintertime we will prepare the grounds for a beautiful garden in summer. The plan is design a eco-friendly garden with room for nature as well as for guests to relax. You’ll help with planting, designing pathways, and maintaining the grounds.
- Playing ground & sauna: We will construct a new playing ground for visiting children and a new, wooden sauna.
- Apartment preparation: We’ll be decorating and furnishing the new bnb apartments, and your ideas for design and layout will be appreciated!
- Outdoor projects: This includes setting up spaces for guests to relax, building small outdoor features, and even brainstorming how to make our property more enjoyable for visitors.
If you’re a good fit for the work and enjoy being part of a creative and collaborative project, we’d love to host you! In exchange for your help, we’ll provide you with accommodation, meals, and plenty of opportunities to explore the beautiful Ammerland region.
With us, you will have a "minijob" contract where the wage is 13€/h.
We expect about 40 hours of help within a 2-week stay. We can plan your work-hours flexibly taking into consideration your plans for your free time. For example: two weeks with 4 hours per workday (Mo-Fr) or just one week with 8 hours and one week "off", where you still have the accomodation.
If you have special skills or areas of interest, let us know! There's room to get involved in more specialized projects as well.Langues

You’ll stay in one of our cozy, fully-equipped apartments in the guesthouse. Each apartment includes a private kitchen and bathroom, giving you the convenience and freedom to prepare your own meals and enjoy your personal space.
With all the essentials provided—from cookware to bedding—you’ll have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The nearest supermarket is just a 10-minute bike ride away, so you can easily stock up on groceries and enjoy cooking at your own pace. Of course, a bike will be provided for you to explore the area and run errands.
We aim to create a relaxing and welcoming environment, where you can unwind after a day of helping out on the project, or even take advantage of the surrounding nature for a quiet retreat.Autres infos...
On your days off, there’s plenty to explore in the local area. The beautiful lake "Zwischenahner Meer" is only a 15-minute bike ride away, perfect for swimming, hiking, or just enjoying the scenic views.
Oldenburg as a vibrant student-city is also pretty close and offers a mix of historical sites, cafes, and local markets for you to explore.
You’ll have access to a bike to make getting around easy. Public transportation is very convenient—there’s a bus stop right in front of the house, and from Bad Zwischenahn, you can catch a train that takes you through Oldenburg and directly to Bremen, perfect for day trips or exploring the region further.
As for house rules, we keep things quite relaxed and informal. We simply ask that you respect each other’s space and that the guests can actually relax without unnecessary noise, and that shared areas are kept clean.
We value collaboration, creativity, and mutual respect, so feel free to share your ideas for the project! Your input and energy are always welcome.
We aim to create a positive, peaceful environment that balances work, creativity, and time for yourself. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with the team, locals, and even other travelers, while also enjoying the calm of the countryside.Informations complémentaires
