Description
Hello, we are Katja and Jorge. We live 4 km from Barichara in the countryside, were we run an ecological project in a farm of 2 ha where we carry out reforestation projects, orchards, accommodation and plant based kitchen.
We do our work here almost alone, sometimes we have a women helping us with the cleaning and in the restaurant.
After living many years in cities and working in other areas such as literature, theater, history, cooking, gastronomy, we wanted to do something different in life. We arrived here attracted by the charm of the countryside and we have built following the traditions, with tapia pisada (rammed earth) and the materials used in the region.
Our project is oriented towards sustainability and respect and restoration of the natural environment.
In 2014 we acquired the property and we have been transforming the area and recovering the natural environment. We opened a small three-bedroom hotel to accommodate guests interested in disconnecting from the speed of the current times and enjoying the wonders of the countryside and the natural wealth of our surroundings.
We have regenerative, conservation and food sustainability implementation projects. We love to cook and eat well and healthy.
We have a beautiful landscape and spectacular views to the mountains. Barichara has a pleasant temperature all year long.
We are open minded, interested in cultural exchange, we like working together and open to learning something new too.
The place to stay is a room with a double bed, so we can receive single people or couples.
We have local farmers here sometimes, so it would be helpful to have some basic knowledge of spanish.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Most of the people here speak Spanish, so you can easily learn and practice it.
To stay here it is necessary to have a basic level of Spanish.
You can also learn about composting preparation, use of EM bacteria, preparation and use of natural fertilizers, pruning trees and plants in orchards and gardens and other farm work.
You can learn about plant-based cooking and about different healthy and delicious food preparations.
If you are interested in the local architecture, we would love to tell you something about the process and the way we have built the different areas of our property.
You can also get lot of information about the nature, geography and history of the country in books and in conversations with us.
In the town it’s possible to participate in workshops to learn about the craft and construction techniques of the area.Aide
We need help for day-to-day work on the farm. Work in the orchards and gardening (do not be afraid of getting your hands dirty), preparation and use of organic fertilizers, pruning trees and plants, useful disposal of pruning and cutting vegetables.
Also for painting walls, DIY and construction, carpentry, maintenance and repair. Maintenance of our road (about 250 meters), sometimes jobs that require physical effort.
Helps with small housework and with with guests.
On the other hand, we also need help with double basses on the computer such as publication on social networks, adaptation of designs if you have a program to work with pdf, etc.
The jobs depend on the climatic moment we are in, dry season or rainy season.Langues

We offer accommodation in an independent room with a double bed, furniture, private bathroom and shower with hot water and hammocks, you can also use the laundry area. We have a library and there is internet connection. Being in the countryside the connection could be unstable when it storms or rains.
Our cooking is plant-based. We offer breakfast and lunch to share together and a snack at night.
We usually get up very early, to have breakfast between 5:45 and 6:15 a.m. and start work between 6:30/7:00 a.m.
Barichara offers a lot of places to eat diferent meals too, if you look to taste the regional food for example.
We live in a rural environment, quiet and full of sounds of nature. That is why we do not allow parties or loud music in our place, futhermore this is a non-smoking place.Autres infos...
We are 4 kilometers from the urban area, so you can walk or take a tuc tuc or walk a couple of kilometers to the paved road and wait there for the public transport bus.
There are many old roads in good condition and you can take tours to nearby places such as the attractive little town of Guane.
Barichara is full of places to learn about the craft and construction traditions with the materials of the region. It is a national monument and is full of history.
San Gil, 20 km away, offers extreme sports experiences for those who enjoy it.Informations complémentaires
