Hello! I am Justin and I am excited to meet you.

I began my journey of traveling to gain a wider perspective of the world and make a transition in myself. Embracing the differences with a large amount of curiosity and kindness has allowed me to create genuine relationships. Which has been great, because for me, travel is more than just the places, photos, and attractions. It is about people, their stories, the shared experiences big or small, and the wonder that can be found in genuinely taking the time to get to the person across from you that really make an impact & memory. This is why I joined Workaway. It enables me to expand, learn, and create memories through volunteering while traveling.

Seeing the world has opened me up to the different ways one can live in it and experience the realities of other people. It has humbled and given me confidence at the same time. I gained independence living on my own in a foreign environment and through solo traveling. This has allowed me to cultivate a sense of self from within, be open minded, and adaptable.

While traveling I have pursued to further my passions of nature and being active in all ways, building ( big interest in learning about bio-construction), and creativity ( photography, design, drawing) . I also enjoy being in the kitchen, especially cooking breakfast and anything that has to do with spicy food. Nothing is better than sharing a meal with others and the laughter and happiness that follows a full stomach. I hope to see how I can follow them further and share them. Then while traveling through Argentina and Colombia I am trying everyday to study and better my Spanish and going from a practical level to a conversational level.

Otherwise, I really love music of all kinds, dancing terribly and hoping to learn salsa so I might be able to dance a bit better and not embarrass myself too much. Depending on the day I enjoy card games, adventures outdoors, looking at architecture, or finding a great place to watch the sunset.


To let you know a little about my skills and background:

CARPENTRY/DIY:
Creativity has been a part of my life in many ways, first in my art and later with design.
I began building 7 years ago as a way to work with my hands and find out outlet for my love of old houses, designing practical spaces, and expressing my creativity. I am skilled in home renovation, mainly carpentry using most modern power tools. I enjoy learning new ways of building, seeing new processes, and creating unique and inviting spaces.

HOSPITALITY:
I grew up working in restaurants from the age of 15 as a way to learn work ethic, to support myself during school, and later as a profession. I have worked with people in restaurants, managed events spaces, and in bars as a bartender for over 15 years. Service, excellence, and getting to know people is a huge part of who I am and is something I truly enjoy.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography is a new hobby of mine. For myself, I enjoy portraiture and street photography. I have been applying it to my work another way as well. Exploring the ability capture a space for use in promotions, websites, or content. more commonly referred to as real estate photography.

I began my travels in South America not just because of the interest in culture, but also the language. I have been learning Spanish starting in Argentina on my own and with tutors for 4/5months with basic ability to speak, write, and understand. I have a desire to move beyond practical language and into conversational use.
