Hi there! :)

My name is Janneke. Although born in one of the flattest countries on the planet, I love heading into the mountains, to go on long distance hikes, bringing a tent along.

People describe me as being very cheerful, enthusiastic, open and easy to converse with. I enjoy learning about psychology and am quite a bit of a philosopher.

What energises me most is being able to help out with physical chores (cleaning, painting, building a fire) or hosting people and making them feel welcome. My experience includes having been a tour guide, a waitress, a vlogger and working on children outdoors camps.

I am in my first year of an educational programme to become a so called International Mountain Leader, which is a mountain guide in terrain up until the use of ropes and helmets.

The coming 6-8 months (from December 2023) I am taking a sabbatical and want to explore Africa, complete a few long distance trails in Europe and explore short term job opportunities that are not desk/office bound.

I LOVE learning languages and I speak Dutch, English, German, French and a basic bit of Italian. I recently started a Duolingo course in Swahili and am curious about other languages to be found on the African continent as well.

Que habilidades tienes?

As a student, I have worked in hospitality (a restaurant) for two years, I have given tours through my university building and through the city of Rotterdam. I also was the first university vlogger, documenting my life and my semester abroad in Hong Kong and as such have adopted basic video editing skills. I also used to organise events / conferences at uni for up to 300 guests.

I have completed a BSc in Social & Behavioural Sciences and a MSc in Global Business & Sustainability and have 5 years working experience as a Sustainability Manager at a non-profit and a for-profit company in Amsterdam and Berlin, which revolved around project management.

As mentioned above I am part-taking in an International Mountain Leader programme and as such have skills in map reading, guiding, wildcamping, tour planning, first aid.
