Two years ago, I quit my office job (working in humanitarian programming and institutional funding) – and never looked back! I’ve been travelling since, firstly spending a year in Eastern Europe, then six months in Canada, and now in South America.

My general aim at the moment is to learn as many things and try as many new things as I possibly can. I have a large range of interests which has been useful for exploring a lot of different volunteer areas/for meeting a lot of interesting people. In Eastern Europe, I partially explored some more roles working with refugees/emergency migration – an area I’m passionate about, but have ended up taking a bit of a career break from for a while. However I occasionally try to get involved with activist and community based projects in this field where I can.

I have a great love for the outdoors, in Canada I worked doing harnessing on a fully accessible Go Ape-style adventure course/climbing wall/giant swing created for people with physical/muscular disabilities. In my spare time I love trying new adventure sports – I’ve recently spent time doing a course in white water kayaking on the Ponce river, doing via ferratas, trying paragliding, and trying to find caves to explore.

I also love working with animals, I previously started a degree in zoology and I am looking at going back to university at some point soon to complete a masters in conservation science. In Romania, I spent some time working for a beekeeper, and have participated in a lot of catsitting/farm-based animal care. I love the opportunity to learn more about each country I visits wildlife and landscape. I think I recently reached the stage in my life where I started to find birds much more interesting (particularly vultures!).

I really enjoy the opportunity to share my various interests with others, whilst I can sometimes be a bit introverted and am happy to keep myself entertained, once you get me locked on an interesting topic some of my favourite moments are spent chatting for hours without noticing the time going past. In my spare time I’m a big reader, I like to write, and love getting involved in all sorts of creative projects [more for love/expression than for skill!]
