Hi! I'm Savannah. I'm from Maine, but have traveled to Peru, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Ireland, Israel, Canada, and been to nearly every state in the U.S. via the National Parks. I have also lived in Australia, Turkey and Spain for 3-6 months each. Living in rural Maine comes with its own set of demands and I am well acquainted to long lasting power outages and manual snow removal.

I am an enthusiastic learner, always signing up for classes or jumping at opportunities that offer a new lens with which to view the world. I am also a writer, animal lover, and nature enthusiast. I am devoted to radical accountability, my writing practice, and mutually beneficial relationships. I'm most fulfilled when I feel useful and appreciated, so I often find myself smiling at jobs where I care for animals, the elderly or children. The concept of Workaway is incredibly appealing to my values and I hope it will help me reach new corners of the world and make life-long friendships.

I grew up with a paint brush in my hand, as every property my mother purchased was a fixer-upper or a foreclosure. The first was a 3 unit, we lived in one and rented the other two. We worked together to clean the apartment between guests, often painting them out or sanding the floors. As the times and technology have changed, she shifted gears and moved to the Airbnb platform. I have co-hosted her properties for over 7 years, so I am very familiar with the hospitality industry. We flipped 3 houses when I was 18-20 years old.

Every country I visit, I hope to come to know through the lens of the properties, people and projects I will contribute to. I am a great cook and a happy co-worker. I believe in staying present and learning as much as you can from any experience you get to go through. I am not one to complain. Gratitude is the attitude.

I am particularly interested in learning bee keeping, oil making, and soap/lotion production. I have always been described as a hard and reliable worker and have many references which I am happy to pass along as I work to build up some reviews on this platform.When COVID hit, I started nannying for a family and fell in love with childcare. I am now at home where I pet sit, house sit and nanny and bartend at an oyster bar. I am saving money so I can travel starting in November of 2023.

While au pairing in Spain, I taught English classes 3x/week with 3 different age groups (8-18) in exchange for 1:1 lessons in Spanish. I can get around Latin American countries easily with my Spanish, but I always have more to learn! I can share what I know and hold intermediate conversations in Spanish with those wishing to practice. I am more than happy to practice and teach English to adults or children.

First and foremost, I am ready and willing to learn new skills. I am thoughtful, attentive to detail and active.

At home in Maine, I have 5 chickens, 3 dogs, 2 cats and 2 little sisters I have co-parented since I turned 18 years old. I have a big garden in which I grow an array of vegetables. I have 2 apple trees and 1 peach tree. I have managed rental properties and cleaned Airbnbs for 7+ years. I have been a waitress, a bartender, a baker, a chef, a reservation agent at a campground/farm combo, and a cafe manager. I've been an au pair (Spain), a nanny, an in-home care provider for the elderly, a dog walker and a house sitter. I am strong swimmer and I love the water with (almost) all of my heart.

How could one person hold so many jobs? Since 16 years old, I've held ~3 jobs at one time and been a dedicated worker at each, often for many years. Showing up to each workplace fresh-faced and ready to go above-and-beyond fills my heart with satisfaction.

My time and money management skills are excellent. For American standards, my cooking and baking skills are coveted, but I would love to be shown up and schooled in Italy or France. I can act as an assistant: answering emails, phone calls and booking appointments or managing a household. I am capable of planting, weeding, watering and tending to an agricultural ecosystem. I can tend animals and homes with care and consistency. I love to nurture children and their interests (especially those who love the outdoors, storytelling (and creating)). I can update social media regularly.

I'm no pro, but I weave birch baskets, make beeswax candles, read about tree ID and wild edibles, make tinctures and teas and experiment with new ways to care for my garden every year.

I am often asked if I have "such deep conversations with other people?" The answer is always yes. I can chat a lot, but I love to listen. I've always been a quality over quantity person, and that applies to how I socialize.

I am a forager, expanding my knowledge of local fungi and plants season by season, book by book and workshop by workshop.

I walk in the woods or at the beach nearly every day. I go camping every summer (excellent fire builder).

I have led group meditation, but I am not licensed or otherwise certified.

I am interested in birth work.

I am invested in surrounding myself with people who are interested in holding each other and themselves accountable, self reflection and personal growth.

I am curious if further education in Psychology is in my future...
