Hey everyone.
I started my Workaway adventure in the summer of 2021. It's definitely a way of life for me now.
Mainly i am looking for volunteer work with animals, big or small.
Since starting workaway i have been extremely lucky with my placements. I've gained experience of taking care of geese, ducks, goats, turkeys, chickens, sheep, cats, dogs, donkeys, pigs, alpacas, tortoises, parrots, rabbits, guinea pigs, peacocks, a bearded dragon, a grass snake, ponies and this past winter i was helping with vultures. Not something i ever thought i would experience. The list goes on 😊 It's been fantastic.
I have no problems with mucking and cleaning out, if they're happy, i'm happy. :)
I'm also happy to help with cooking, cleaning and general tasks around the place. I've helped to build and maintain enclosures for animals. I'm used to using my own initiative so will just crack on with whatever is needed.
The past summer, and this coming summer, i help run a little cafe up on the Isle of Lewis.(I used to be a chef) Simple but nice food; soups, cakes, sarnies etc. If you in need of kitchen staff i am your gal. Also i've worked on cabins, doing the changeovers. In the winters i normally go to a place for apple picking.
I got alot of different experiences under my belt. :)
In my spare time i love to paint and draw, love to read fiction, especially if it's a distopian future. I studied photography at college, way back when, i still enjoy getting animal and landscape pics. I'm also a qualified massage therapist. :)
Generally speaking, i like to stay in a workaway for longer periods of time. Obviously this depends on whether we get along but i haven't had any issues so far. I'm pretty easy going. I do get very attached to animals. I will happily spend my free time with them, have a chat, have a snuggle, take em out. Whatever they fancy. So the longer i get to be in their lives the better.
If you're the kind of place that kills your animals, i'm out.

I've worked in alot of kitchens so I'm more than happy doing some cooking, I'm accustomed to being on my feet for 12hrs a day. I have also had a job deep cleaning bars and restaurants so am no stranger to a scrubbing brush.
From my work as a workawayer i've leant how to take care of many different types of animals.
I'm happy to use a power tools when needed.
