Hello, I’m Maire! I quit my job last year to come away after finding myself at a bit of a crossroads and longing for a bit of an adventure and some time to pause, connect with nature, and reconnect with myself and life beyond my usual bubble.

I’ve just spent 6 months in Peru (have done some travelling, some Spanish school, volunteering, and a few months teaching English). I’m planning to spend the rest of the year travelling down into Bolivia, Chile and Argentina.

I’ve been loving exploring, meeting and learning from new people, communities and environments. I see myself as caring, friendly, open-minded and keen to learn. I am new to Workaway (even though I have had an account for ages) and I am hugely grateful to the hosts within this community for opening and sharing their worlds and wisdoms.

Before coming away, I spent the last few years working for a charity, providing wellbeing and support services to carers, after finishing my studies in global development and sociology, and before that, Art.
