Greetings to all, and thanks for dropping by my profile 🙂

My name is Anton. Coming from Estonia 🇪🇪, but been scattered all over Europe since 2013, with all my belongings fitting in my backpack.

Basically, I'm an enthusiast for everything related to building, renovating, fixing etc stuff, been painting chairs and building roofs and everything in between across Europe 🙂

📌What kind of person am I?
I'm often been told I'm very independent and self-driven in my projects. I do enjoy being part of a good team, but feeling comfortable in my own company as well. Otherwise I'm rather quiet, but enjoy a nice conversation. I'm flexible, laid-back and quite non-chalant, but do get frustrated easily by ineficciencies and bad manners. And I guess I'm really curious and enjoy being around people who are passionate about something, anything.

📌What are your interests?
Generally, animals and being in the nature. I enjoy long bike rides and discovering hiking paths. Spend evenings with a book, or occasional video editing. If there are animals around, then probably you'll find me petting them 🙂 In the recent years, I've grown a big interest in everything about building and renovating, especially historical buildings, or natural building techniques. Have no particular interest in parties and alcohol 🙂

📌Why am I on Workaway?
Joined in 2014 due to desire to prolong my stay in France after my ESC project ended. But it became less about traveling and more about education and self-discovery. This platform has allowed me to gain experiences and hone skills I would not have access to in 'regular lifestyle'. By putting myself in different situations and environments, I've learned a lot about the world around me, but especially about myself. But primarily, I don't choose the country, I choose the project on the basis of what can I learn there 🙂

Throughout the years, I've been privileged to learn and experience something from all kind of walks of life, so I'll try to present some below.

COMMUNITY & CO-LIVING
I enjoy staying in communities and probably most of the projects have been in community settings. I've lived months, or years in some of the following - La Maison des Bateleurs, France 🇫🇷 , Tvind International School Center, Denmark 🇩🇰, Montijo Garden, Portugal🇵🇹, Association Mutte Cultural, Spain 🇪🇸 , and many more. So, I'm familiar with cooking and cleaning rotas, and endless meetings 😁

NON-PROFIT ORGANISATIONS
Before traveling, I was a board member at Serve The City Tallinn, Estonia 🇪🇪 as coordinator between the volunteers and partners, such as the Sõbra Käsi soup kitchen, Tallinn pet shelter, orphanages and homeless shelters. In 2018, I was involved in Yellow Chair artists group in Kostroma, Russia 🇷🇺 as a translator (despite my limited russian) and a group coordinator for international participants and the local staff.

SALES & SOCIAL MEDIA
I worked as a product consultant for Samsung Estonia a long time ago and later in social media & communications office at DNS International Teacher Training College,Denmark🇩🇰 and UISCE non-profit, Northern Ireland 🇬🇧. Leading promotional activities & communication at Clubul Sportiv Experienta Multisport, Romania🇷🇴

HOSPITALITY & HOUSEKEEPING
My first involvement in hospitality field was with TMC Entertainment at Hotel Atlantica Rhodes, Greece🇬🇷, as a kids entertainer. Later, I've done housekeeping gigs at Kirowy Goscienec, Poland 🇵🇱 and reception&housekeeping at Hotell Kaptenshuset in Kivik, Sweden🇸🇪. In addition, a seasonal gig at a kayak rental center Njord Kayak in Flåm, Norway🇳🇴 as a receptionist & kayak instructor. Cleaning public & guest spaces at Natuurlijk camping site in the Netherlands🇳🇱

KITCHEN & GASTRONOMY
Kitchen help at multiple events here and there as a Workaway helper. On formal basis I stayed as a kitchen porter and dishwasher in professional kitchens at the Missing Sock events venue in England🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, Alpenhotel Oberstdorf, Germany🇩🇪
Dishwasher at Restaurant Lumberjack in Sweden🇸🇪. Most recently a kitchen help and dishwasher at Skillinge Theatre Restaurant, Sweden🇸🇪. Supposedly, I'm hell of a fast dishwasher 😁

PETS & ANIMALS
Had to perform the feeding & cleaning routine for CA 100 Boer goats at WIKID Farms, Portugal🇵🇹 and animal care for horses, ponies, goats at El Cielo De Mallorca, Spain🇪🇸. Cleaning after pugs(dogs) at the pug shelter Hus Moppel, Germany🇩🇪 Additionally, occasional chicken care and pet-sitting for cats, dogs, Vietnamese pigs here and there. Cow care at BioArt Laboratories Eindhoven, the Netherlands🇳🇱

GARDEN FARMING & GREENHOUSES
Polytunnel&Irrigation installations, weeding, planting, harvesting at Hammersly Økojord, Denmark🇩🇰, Pepper plant care at hydrophonic greenhouses GeeVee Enterprises in England🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Co-managing & weeding-planting-harvesting at CaLaCol cooperative in Spain🇪🇸. And endless amount of gardening & weeding here and there.

GROUND MAINTENANCE&FORESTRY
Care for public nature spaces at Jupiter Artland, Scotland🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, land clearance and tree cutting at Can Masas, Spain🇪🇸 , reforestation after forest fires of Arrabida natural park with Downtown Pamela, Portugal🇵🇹. Plus endless amount of bush trimming, lawn mowing, wood splitting here and there.

Drywall & glass wool installations at Punkt XII, Germany🇩🇪
