Hello, my name is Freya! I am 29 years old and was born in Scotland but raised in New Zealand.

I spent 2015-2020 living in different parts of Europe (I was trying to make the most of my British passport before the dreaded Brexit). I studied English Literature in Bergen, Norway and international criminal; law in Tübingen, Germany.

For the last couple of years I have been back in New Zealand working as the Conservation Ranger on Motuihe Island (an island 30 minutes boat ride from Auckland). I did all manner of tasks here including wildlife monitoring, lawnmowing, fence repairing, rodent control, land maintenance and tree planting. I loved being out in nature working closely with wildlife.

I love cooking and have recently got into fermenting, dehydrating and preserving. Over the last year I have learnt how to make kombucha, preserve lemons, make marmalade and sauerkraut and made my own tea and spice blends by dehydrating herbs. Very interested in developing these skills and learning more about European plants.

I am independent, curious, adaptable and bubbly but love meeting new people and socialising. I am a fast learner and will give almost anything a go.

My last workaway experience (which I did through HelpX) was just before the start of the pandemic on a small farm in Germany. I loved the experience and am eager to do another one. 5. Social media (I worked as a content creator for a magazine in the Netherlands and have extensive website/SEO experience)

6. Food. I love trying new methods of working with food. In the past I have I have preserved lemon, made sauerkraut and kombucha and dehydrated foraged herbs. Happy to teach these skills and learn more :)
