Hiii beautiful people ♡

My name is Claudia, and together with my camper van Liam, I’m traveling around Europe. Right now im in France. I love being active, trying new things and spending time in nature, especially with animals!!

I’m hands-on and enjoy helping out, whether it’s with chores, gardening, building, painting or other tasks. I'm very open and excited to learn new things (and culture differences), it gives me so much energy.

People describe me as warm, caring, calm, hard worker and easy-going. I have an eye for detail and have experiences in working at a spiritual retreat center called Terra Nova.

So why do I want to do Workaway? Well…
I’ve spent most of my life working behind a laptop, until I suddenly realized that this isn’t what I want anymore. My hands want something different, something grounded, something real. I want to work with the earth, create things I can see and feel at the end of the day. That’s why I’m so motivated to learn new skills, both outdoors and indoors, and to work with my hands instead of just a keyboard.

I’m SO excited to meet amazing people, share experiences and learn new things!

What’s not to love about learning other languages?! I feel like it’s a way to show respect for the place you’re in and it gives you a chance to connect with people outside your own country. Haha so YES.. I really enjoy learning new languages!

I’m someone who likes to get involved and just start doing things. I enjoy practical work like gardening, building, painting, DIY jobs or whatever!! I love learning new things.

I worked already one year at a beautiful spiritual retreat center called Terra Nova in France. What I did there was cleaning, gardening, hosting, helping with cooking, organizing, taking care of Donna (cat) and Atlas (dog) .. miss them a lot!!

Other work I did (from Facebookgroups)
♡ Camping Rey Lobo (Murcia) - working there as a receptionist making people feel like home, did some social media there and organised the place.
♡ Camping Palomera (Jaén) - fixed the roads because of the heavy rains, chopping wood, making big fires, gardening.

So I'm what I called an allrounder I guess :)

I enjoy exploring new cultures, learning languages and connecting with people from different backgrounds. In my free time, I like dancing, hiking, being around water or animals ♡, reading or just spending time in nature.

Traveled already to Asia and my love for other cultures, nature and animals grew even bigger!

I originally came to Barbara and Brian for few weeks… and somehow that turned into six months. I think that says quite a lot about how wonderful my time with them was!

During my stay I got to experience a bit of everything. I spent countless hours working in the garden, from pruning and weeding to taking care of the land and we even managed to … read more turn the swimming pool from green back to blue! And then there were the 10 puppies… which was definitely one of the highlights of my stay. Taking care of them was such a special experience.

But what I will take with me most from my time here is everything I learned. Brian has taught me an incredible amount. He is incredibly funny (well he think he is, haha joking Brian!), very patient and genuinely enjoys sharing what he knows. Before coming here, I had barely used any of the tools in his garage and I certainly didn't know much about electricity, mechanics or fixing things. Six months later, I have learned how to use all kinds of tools, understand much more about electricity and even got to work on my own camper. Brian and I have literally been lying underneath my camper together, working on everything from the brakes to installing a reversing camera. I never expected a Workaway to teach me so much about practical skills!

And then there is Barbara. She is such a wise and fascinating woman. I absolutely loved listening to her stories and hearing about her life. She has broadened my perspective in so many ways, and I have taken away so much from our conversations. And of course… her cooking! I honestly don't think I have eaten this well at someones place before. Barbara is an amazing, like masterchef amazing, cook.

What made this place so special for me was that I never really felt like a Workawayer. I felt like part of the family. Going out together in the car, doing the groceries, having a coffee on a terrace, going to the hardware store or heading to the lake… those are the moments I will remember just as much as the work itself.

Barbara and Brian have created a place where you don't just come to "do your hours". You become part of their daily life, you learn from them, you get to know them and if you are open to it, you leave with a whole lot more knowledge and life experience than you arrived with.

So if you want to learn about gardening, animals, practical skills, tools, DIY, maintaining a beautiful piece of land, or simply want to learn from two very interesting people with a lot of life experience, go to Barbara and Brian.

And be prepared… you might come for a few weeks and end up staying for six months or more❤️

Thank you Barbara and Brian for an unforgettable six months. I am incredibly grateful for everything you taught me, all the laughs, the good food, the puppies, the projects, the adventures and, most of all, for making me feel at home and be part of your family.

Claudia came here in March and stayed until July. From the moment she arrived she felt like one of the family!
In the first weeks she worked doggedly at weeding and after a very wet winter and spring, there was a lot of weeding.
