Hello from Kevin (30) and Christine (28), a hardworking couple from sunny Singapore!

We have been on a career break since Sept 2025 to travel, explore, and live a completely different life from what we know in Singapore. With a strong desire to immerse ourselves in nature and experience the rewarding work of farming, we are excited to be in New Zealand, ready to dive into new challenges and learn valuable skills.

We plan to travel the entire country within a year. Our journey started in Auckland from which we made our way down south via the West Coast. We reached the South Island in November and have explored Marlborough Sounds, the Golden Bay area and some of the West Coast. We plan to continue our adventure in the South Island before eventually looping back up to the North Island.

We’re excited for the opportunity to contribute, grow, and embrace the beauty of New Zealand while experiencing life in a way that’s different from the hustle and bustle of Singapore.

Looking forward to connecting with hosts and discovering more of this beautiful country!

Since arriving in New Zealand, we’ve mainly worked in gardens, with one placement on a dairy farm.

In the gardens, we’ve gained hands-on experience with pruning, weeding, transplanting, building plant supports, and moving materials around the property. Kevin has used power tools for cutting down trees and dismantling an old wooden bench. Outside of Workaway, he’s been converting our car into a self-contained vehicle, which has given him the chance to learn new practical and technical skills.

On the dairy farm, we helped care for calves — feeding, moving them between sheds and paddocks, vaccinating, drenching, and assisting with milking.

We’re really excited to experience local life, meet new people, and help out along the way. We love getting involved, learning new skills, and contributing wherever we can — whether that’s in the garden, around the house, or with animals.

Kevin and Christine stayed with us for a week. They are a lovely, warm and friendly couple and are excellent workers. They just got on and did their work without supervision. We stayed with Ian and Leanne for two weeks on their dairy farm and had nothing short of an incredible experience.

If you get to host this couple you are in luck. They are hardworking, careful and they added value to everything I asked them to do. They are keen to try their hand at anything and need minimal supervision once they're on the job. Kevin and Christine were a joy to host and to share time with.
