I am a first-time international traveler heading to New Zealand in search of an exciting and completely new experience in my life. I'm beyond excited to have the opportunity to connect with new people from different cultures and walks of life. I want to expand my horizons by learning from and connecting with others who have lived a life different than my own in a vastly different place than where I grew up. In addition to this, I possess a deep-seated desire for adventure and new experiences and have decided that New Zealand is the perfect fit for me in that aspect. I'm a passionate and experienced outdoors person in climbing, mountain biking, skiing, backpacking, and hiking, and I simply cannot wait to see the wonderful opportunities New Zealand has to offer in the outdoors.

I possess a wide range of experience and abilities that range from customer service to guiding rock climbing and mountain biking trips.

I've worked a substantial amount in the customer service realm in and out of retail settings. For two summer seasons, I worked as a front desk attendant at a ranch/resort in Colorado where I performed a variety of tasks such as booking and managing reservations, answering questions from and assisting both current and potential guests, and occasionally working in a small resort gift/fly fishing shop.
I have also spent the majority of 2023 working for an outdoor equipment store in Washington selling new and consigned equipment. In this position, my main duties were selling equipment to customers/answering their questions, and educating them on the items we carried as well as the sports it pertained to. I also frequently took part in assessing incoming consignment items from new and existing consignors.

Perhaps my most well-developed area of expertise lies in facilitating climbing and mountain biking excursions. I've worked three seasons at a summer camp in Colorado for Avid4 Adventure as a rock climbing supervisor where, in a leadership role, I facilitated day trips to local climbing areas for groups of up to 13 adolescents. In addition, I trained staff at our camp location on basic climbing safety skills that assisted in these day trips. In my most recent season with this camp, I took part in assessing potential climbing supervisors from different locations. Occasionally, I assisted with mountain biking day trips as a facilitator and helped with the maintenance of our bike fleet.
Outside of a summer camp setting, I worked for 11 months as a field guide for a wilderness/adventure therapy program in Utah. I was tasked with assisting or leading week-long hiking/backpacking/climbing/mountain biking itineraries with groups of adolescents to young adults in a therapeutic setting. While facilitating the itinerary activities was a substantial part of the job, I was equally involved in helping students throughout their time in the program whether that was helping them with therapeutic assignments, connecting with them and guiding them through difficult emotions, holding interpersonal boundaries, or upholding safety precautions when needed.

I am a very open-minded individual and am seeking new experiences and learning new skills. I have a solid work ethic, so I am more than willing to help in whatever way is needed, even if that requires learning something new.

I am a passionate outdoors person with a substantial amount of experience in rock climbing, skiing, mountain biking, and hiking/backpacking. It is perhaps my biggest passion in life and is a crucial part of what makes me happy. I love teaching and sharing this passion with others whether they are new or experienced; I think it is one of the greatest joys of life to get to share such a deep passion with others.
