Mitch and I stayed for just under three weeks, dog sitting wee Cujo! It was such a treat to spend that time in Crawford Bay and explore the beautiful area. We took Cujo for lots of walks and tended to the sprouting veggies so it was very easy, chill work! Cujo is a sweet pup with a quirky personality - we loved that his favourite game was chasing rocks! Even though we only saw Mateja and Adam at the start and end of our time there, we felt like they were super easy to get along with and would be great workaway hosts. We had great communication with them the whole time and had no complaints at all!

It is too special, it has a lot of vocation, it helped us a lot in the project, we were delighted.

Nuestro trabajo como voluntarios incluyó clases de apoyo individual en diferentes materias. Nosotros trabajamos los lunes, miércoles, jueves y sábados (pero los días de trabajo pueden variar dependiendo de los niños con las cuales uno trabaja). Yo por ejemplo tenía las clases individuales siempre con los mismos dos niños, así los pude conocer muy bien en este tiempo. Lo más importante es ayudar a los niños con sus tareas y explicarles otra vez los temas que no entendieron en el colegio. En los descansos los niños siempre querían que juguemos algo juntos. Hay todo de matemáticas, comunicación, inglés, ciencias, artes... Otro aspecto del voluntariado que nos gustó mucho era el intercambio de idiomas con los voluntarios de Iquitos y vivir junto con una familia de Iquitos. Son tan amables, les extrañaremos mucho!

Michika stayed at our orchard for one week in June 2026. She is an excellent worker. Michika did a fine job weeding my garden and even helping with our house renovation. She was willing to learn new skills, like thinning apple trees. All the best to you. Tony

Augusta is a bright, energetic, and fun person to be around! Our two weeks with her were full of so many different experiences. During that time, we talked about many things, spent a lot of time together, and laughed a lot. We went out for vegan cake, she taught me knitting — she is truly amazing at it and has completed so many beautiful pieces — we went out for soba, visited a karaoke bar, processed a chicken together, made hand-rolled sushi, and even had an unagi party. The two weeks felt as if they flew by, but at the same time, they were so full and rich that it almost felt much longer. Of course, she also helped us with many tasks, such as farm work, cleaning the house, and painting benches. She is also very talented at drawing, so the benches are now decorated with many lovely illustrations that make us smile whenever we see them. She also wrote some of her favorite Japanese words on the benches, and every time we see them, we will think of her. We are so happy that we were able to spend such a fun and meaningful two weeks together. Let’s definitely meet again somewhere someday — next time in Copenhagen! Sam was amazing to help us with activities in the garden, with the animals and around the house! Such a lovely personality, very positive and fun to be around! We would absolutely recommend Sam :)

Dario and Sara's family are truly wonderful people—bright, friendly, sweet, hardworking, and a joy to be around! They were the very first family we hosted through Workaway. Since it was our first experience hosting a family, there may have been times when we could have been more considerate or better prepared. Even so, having the opportunity to host them was an absolute pleasure for us. It was a truly special experience, especially for our children, and one that we will always remember. Working outdoors in the summer heat could not have been easy, but they worked incredibly hard while also caring for their children. Throughout their stay, we always felt that they were looking out for us and thinking about how they could help. We are deeply grateful for both their hard work and their kindness. During their stay, we spent wonderful time together. We visited a park on our day off, enjoyed campfires and fireworks, and shared many memorable moments. There were also plenty of community events happening while they were here, so we often gathered around a large table with many people. We shared all kinds of food and cultural experiences, including nagashi somen (flowing noodles), hand-rolled sushi, Japanese curry rice, and Italian cuisine. We even had the chance to learn how to make fresh pasta from them, which was a fantastic experience! One of the most meaningful things we gained from spending time together was a renewed appreciation for the precious time we have with our children. As fellow parents, we shared many conversations, experiences, and perspectives, and those moments meant a great deal to us. We are truly grateful for this connection and friendship. We sincerely hope that our paths will cross again someday. We wish your children happiness as they grow, and we wish your family all the best for the future. Thank you for everything—we will always treasure the memories we made together.

​I had a wonderful time staying here. Amir is pleasant and fun to be around, making me feel welcome from day one. It was a perfect immersion into a peaceful village life — I even got to attend local weddings and go hiking. I loved being surrounded by monkeys, monitor lizards, dogs, cats, birds, and beautiful butterflies. The local flora and fauna are simply incredible. I am so grateful for this unforgettable experience.

I spent three wonderful weeks staying with Karyn and Paul. They are truly kind and lovely. I enjoyed every moment I spent with them, as well as our conversations and recommendations about movies, TV shows, and music (Thanks for the private show!) They are both very involved in their local community and included me in their daily activities. Their property is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by nature. Whether it was gardening with Karyn, taking care of the animals (big hugs to Coco), working with Paul, or helping around the house (I hope the deck is ready for summer), I enjoyed every moment. Lund and the Sunshine Coast are wonderful places to visit. If you get a message from Karyn, don’t hesitate! This Workaway experience completely exceeded my expectations. If I ever return to the Sunshine Coast, I’ll definitely stay there again. Thank you for everything!

L’un de nos plus beaux volontariats. Sabrina et Philippe forment un couple qui respire le bonheur, la joie et l’amour ! Ce fut merveilleux de passer deux semaines avec eux dans leur petit monde à Bora Bora, cette île qu’ils aiment tant et qu’ils nous ont si bien partagée. Et croyez-nous, vous n’aurez plus envie de les quitter ! Ils mettent tout en place pour que la vie soit douce et agréable. En ce qui concerne le travail, ils font confiance, sont très arrangeants et nous laissent travailler en autonomie, ce qui nous a beaucoup plu ! La vie est rythmée par de grandes discussions, de super repas partagés très animés, des balades, des baignades dans la piscine, des jeux de cartes enflammés et beaucoup, beaucoup de rires ! Ce sont deux personnes très intéressantes et intéressées, incroyablement généreuses, et jamais à court d’histoires rocambolesques. Dans cet endroit, souvent très loin de chez nous, on s’est senties comme à la maison, presque en famille. La chambre dans laquelle nous avons été accueillies était très propre, avec un lit très confortable, ainsi qu’une salle de bain et des toilettes privées. Bref, le grand luxe ! Je vous souhaite d’avoir la chance de partager un volontariat avec eux, c’est vraiment un bonheur !

Sofia and Nora were incredibly hardworking and kind people! They helped us with a wide variety of tasks during their stay, and we were constantly amazed by how efficient and productive they were. Even when faced with jobs they had never done before, they took the initiative to research, think things through, and find a way to do them successfully. Working in the fields during the hot weather couldn't have been easy, but they tackled every task with enthusiasm—cutting grass, training vines, building tunnels, and much more. They completed tasks so quickly that we were constantly scrambling to find the next job for them to do! 😆 Thanks to their efforts, we were able to accomplish an incredible number of things during their stay, and we are truly grateful for all their help. We also had many events happening while they were here, which gave us the opportunity to share Japanese culture together. We enjoyed nagashi somen (flowing noodles), Japanese curry rice, okonomiyaki, and many other delicious experiences. It was wonderful to share these moments with them. And we have to give a special mention to Sophia—she graduated from pastry school and is an amazing pastry chef! During their stay, she treated us to homemade desserts such as chocolate mousse and panna cotta. They were absolutely delicious! Although they stayed for only two weeks, they made a huge difference and created many wonderful memories with us. We are so glad they came and spent this time here. We hope to see you both again someday! Next time, we'll come and visit you in Europe. 😊 Thank you so much for everything, and we wish you all the best on your future adventures! ❤️

I spent a wonderful week with Diane at the eco-lodge. My tasks included gardening, basic landscaping, cleaning and painting! The space is wonderful; I was doing yoga and meditation on the roof surrounded by the sounds of the forest. Everyone I met at the lodge was very welcoming and kind, it was great to speak to the different people that passed through. There is no Wi-Fi at the lodge so it’s best to come with a SIM card already. Avoid Digi cell because there is limited coverage. Diane's vegan meals were a nice change from the deep friend snacks I had been living off previously. All the best to Diane, Mark, Jodi and the project! I hope to come back in the future.

Sian & Mitchell came to stay and look after our dog while we took a well overdue vacation for two weeks. They arrived the day before so we could show them the house, land and for Cujo to get to know them and feel more at ease. It was great getting to know them and hearing about their adventures. They are a super nice and easygoing couple. We got pictures with updates and Cujo looked very happy with his new friends while we were away. They also watered our seedlings and plants which helped us get things into the garden early. Thank you again for taking care of our pooch and we wish you amazing adventures ahead!

I had the pleasure of hosting Jan and Vojta, two wonderful brothers who were friendly, cheerful, and always willing to help. They stopped by our place while traveling around Japan in their van. Despite the hot weather, they took on the challenge of building a large swing for our community and worked on it with great dedication. Through plenty of trial and error, they kept improving it day after day, and eventually completed the project! We were truly impressed by their persistence and hard work, and it was inspiring to watch their progress throughout their stay. During their time here, we had many events and gatherings, including several large communal meals. We shared and enjoyed a variety of Japanese food culture together, such as hand-rolled sushi, Japanese curry rice, and nagashi somen (flowing noodles). Thanks to their efforts, we now have a beautiful swing that will likely become one of the highlights of this place. It has already become a new symbol of our community and will surely be a relaxing spot for many future visitors. The children are already absolutely in love with it! 😊 Thank you both so much for the wonderful two weeks. We truly enjoyed having you here and hope our paths will cross again someday! Mi experiencia fue muy chimba. Estuve 2 semanas pero me quede unos dias mas porque el lugar es muy tranquilo y me senti como en casa. El pueblo es muy tranquilo y apacible para pasar una temporada. Luciana es genial como administradora y persona, ahi estuvo bueno compartie unos mates. Se extrañaba. La gente del hostal todos muy amables y cordiales. Las tareas no son dificiles nada mas que solo ser atento y responder con los turnos y ser responsable. Les deseo lo mejor y gracias por haberme recibido en Filandia.

Jossy, una persona super dulce y especial. Super alegre con muy buena energía. Se hizo amiga de los otros voluntarios rápidamente y con nuestros trabajadores. Super atenta, responsable y honesta nos ayudó en todo lo que ocupábamos. 100% recomendada Pura Vida!!!

I loved having Luca here. He just stepped in and helped me with everything. He carried out tasks independently with so much initiative. He was happy to take on any task big or small. He worked excellently with animals of all sizes, including dogs, chickens, alpacas, camels, cows, sheep, pigs, donkeys and horses. He was fun, passionate, positive, so easy to be around and very action oriented. Every day he looked after the morning and evening shifts with the animals and also got stuck into the gardening, vacuuming and so many other chores. He is a team player with a clear focus on what needs to be done. I would highly recommend him to everyone! Plus he can cook up a storm!

She is a team player with a clear focus on what needs to be done. I would highly recommend her to everyone! I asked her to move in! Would take her anyday!
