I had an amazing experience in Iquitos. The first two days, I was really out of my comfort zone, mainly because my Spanish level was not good enough. Iquitos is also a really big and busy city, so you have to be prepared for that. But the family is so nice and so generous that you quickly forget everything else. The mum, Bertha, is just one of a kind : she is so kind to everyone, and she is always taking care of you, checking that you are doing well and feeling well. She is truly the best. She is also preparing the best breakfast. Everyone else is also amazing, really inclusive and communicative. The family was always offering us to join in their daily life activities and I really felt included. About the school, some of the kids are not the easiest to manage, but they are so cute and happy and cariñosos with the volunteers. You can really feel like you are making a difference by helping them. I really got attached to these kids. As the classes are in Spanish and that the family mainly speaks only Spanish, I really recommend to have a good level of Spanish for this adventure. If you are looking to get out of your confort zone, improve your Spanish and help children that really need it while living with an amazing family and enjoying the péruvien way of life, I strongly recommend this volunteering! I had an incredible time helping Inken get her apartment ready for the summer! I got to spend 2 weeks putting my renovation, repair and organisation skills to good use! I was joined by my partner (see seperate review from our couples account) and another workawayer in our second week so we got a lot accomplished in the time we were there! It was exciting to see all the progress we made and the Airbnb on our last day ready to welcome guests. The apartment I stayed in was lovely and Aljezur is beautiful. Inken was a lovely host! She had great recommendations for us during our stay. We also got to share some lovely meals together. Inken only asked for 3 hours a day and was happy for us to keep track of our hours and plan the week and modify the schedule to our preference. I felt very welcomed and appreciated from the start. I really enjoyed hearing Inken’s stories and getting to know her more throughout my stay. This Workaway experience was fantastic. I would highly recommend it when Inken needs help in the future!

Mia and Noel are amazing people, ready to share and happy to chat. Hugo is an adorable boy, so cute and enthusiastic for everything, he enjoys to be pet, scratches and take out for beautiful walks or runs after cats. He needs very basic care and you really enjoy your time with him. The walk to Kells Priory is astonishing, the village's pub is so cozy and the entire village, as the accomodation, are. Mia and Noel are such amazing hosts! The next store is not that close, but there are many buses to Kilkenny and both Mia and Noel were so kind to take me to town with them, so I've never been out of something. Everything is highly recommended!

Arne and Riet are an amazing couple and it was a pleasure to host them. With their hard-working help we were able to significantly advance several projects, involving construction and farming. Their thoughtfulness and deep care towards the people, the project and the work, helped made everything flow in a beautiful way during the time they stayed with us. Any project would be lucky to host them. The doors of ours will always be open for them.

I hosted Marnie for about two weeks and we had a great time together. She took care of the things that needed to be done and there’s nothing I can complain about. Marnie was friendly, reliable and willing to support wherever needed. Her positive attitude contributed to a great atmosphere for both guest and staff. She’s welcome to come back anytime!

Grace initially came for 4 weeks to help with some decorating and gardening. Grace I found to be a very kind, motivated, knowledgeable lady with a lot to offer. She has a strong character and some innovative ideas. Grace seems to work well on specific projects which have an end result for all to see. Grace moved on to her next Workaway in just under three weeks. We both agreed that our personalities were very different and that was the best decision. I wish her well.

Audrey stayed with us in the month of May, she helped us out with cleaning and general maintenance of the hostel. She was proactive, and would go above and beyond without being asked. She's independent, she has her own vehicle which made things easier for her, this also meant she could bring others on adventures - needless to say that she got on quite well with everybody. We would definitely recommend Audrey to any future hosts

You can't wish for a better volunteer! Azura has been the sweetest person to have around, highly skilled, perfect work ethic- she did such an amazing job! I can only recommend her. and would be happy to welcome her back anytime. 💖

We stayed in Alagonia for 2 weeks and loved it. Evan was a very welcoming host and exceeded all expectations. The work we were doing included digging raised beds, planting and weeeding to name a few. The tasks were varied and enjoyable. We learned a lot while we where here, about Greek culture as well as natural farming and self sufficiency. we loved our stay and will hope to stay in touch with our hosts. thanks guys!

Our first-ever Workaway experience in France was everything we could have hoped for and more. We had an amazing time, learned so much, and felt genuinely welcomed from the moment we arrived. A special thank you to Jane, whose kindness, generosity, and incredible knowledge of the local area made our stay truly memorable. Her passion for the history, culture, and hidden gems of the region added so much to our experience and helped us appreciate the area in a way we never could have on our own. We leave with wonderful memories, new friendships, and a deep appreciation for the Workaway community. Thank you, Jane, for making our first Workaway such a positive and unforgettable experience!

Dani was a warm and gracious host, who is organized and has scheduled work. Despite being busy with the shelter, she had us for tea and lunch and was available if we needed anything and to help coordinate a weekend trip. Her dad, pancho, and employees Meli and Nacho and very welcoming and we had a few nights spent at Panchos cabin enjoying music. You live and work along side the dogs on her property and will surely end the trip with wanting to take a few home. It is an active lifestyle on a picturesque property, as the trials for dog walking are on an incline. My favorite part, was getting a peak into Dani’s life because it is inspiring to see her create the life she wanted to have ( living and caring for 40+ animals) despite the odds and making a space for people to join her vision along the way.

Tobi is a beautiful human being! He stayed with us for 10 days and it was an absolute pleasure to have him. He is generous with his time and presence, mindful, cares for details, curious and very easy to live with. We had a few projects in mind for him to help us but we had an unexpected visit from the construction guy and finally we could tear down a wall we wanted to take out for many months...so most of the first week was focused on that. We all learned together and he was stoked with all the tasks we did and proposed him to do. He also helped us finish our last bed of the garden, transplant some veggies there, clean the chicken house, cut the grass/bush and prepare a future green filter/garden next to the chicken house. So yes, plans changed and he just adapted to every new turn of events with a big smile. We had deep conversations and also made jokes about mundane things... very easy going! We also practiced yoga together in the city and he joined Pol for an openning of a friend's new business and got along with Pol's friends easily :) It was a blessing having him with us. Thank you Tobi for being how and how you are!!!

We really enjoyed our time at Inken’s place helping her get the downstairs Airbnb apartment ready for the last 2 weeks. It was fun putting our renovation and repair skills to good use. The apartment we stayed in was lovely and Aljezur is beautiful. The outdoor deck and pool were a highlight for us! It’s also only a 30 minute drive to Lagos. Inken is a warm and kind-hearted person. It was really nice to be around her calm and positive energy! We enjoyed the opportunity to get to know her more throughout our stay. Having a hire car was very handy so we could explore. Walking to the shops and the beach is doable but not super practical, so we’d definitely recommend having a car. It was cheap to hire a car from Lisbon but Lagos is also an option for a little more. Before we left, we got to share a lovely dinner with Inken and another Workawayer. We also enjoyed the opportunity to cook a meal together during our stay. We also loved having Inken’s fur babies around. We would come back in a heartbeat and wish Inken all the very best!

Yuzuki only stayed a week with us but we thoroughly enjoyed her company. She completed the jobs we gave her quickly and thoroughly. She was polite and appreciative and cooked us a lovely Japanese chicken dish. We can heartily recommend Yuzuki to any future host!!

Thumbs up for friendly, communicative and motivated Kiley! She stayed almost one week and helped us with light household duties like ironing, cleaning kitchen boards and fridge. Besides that Kiley is a passionate hobby fotographer, which was great for my brandnew opened ice cabin studio "Ehinger Kältekammer": she took great fotos and videos for my social media contents which will be a big support! After trying my cryo cabin (from down under to -85°C...) Kiley was even more energized and motivated:-)! Highly recommandable that woman!

I had the pleasure of hosting Raj and I can wholeheartedly say it was a wonderful and enriching experience. He is polite, respectful and tidy and proved to be an exceptionally hard-working and dedicated volunteer, consistently going above and beyond what was asked of him. What truly stood out was his thoughtfulness and attentiveness — on evenings when he noticed I was particularly tired, he would spontaneously help around the house, cooking and cleaning without being asked. Beyond his work, the time we spent together was genuinely enjoyable. Our conversations were engaging, meaningful, and never superficial. I would recommend Raj as a guest without any hesitation whatsoever. Any host would be lucky to have him.

Fantastic place to stay. Flat terrain for cycling around, which was important logistically for me as I had many errands during my 4 month stay with Lorna. Her dogs were also a joy to walk. Taking Socrates and Birdie up the road for her came very naturally to me. The dogs are large friendly animals.

My almost three weeks with Spiros, Nikoletta, Stergios and Zois were really beautiful. First, I was a bit confused because they did not explain so much. But if you bring some flexibility, patience and things to do in your free time (No WiFi), you will have a wonderful time on the farm. I arrived in a quiet busy period for them, but they still didn't pass in their stress to me. Rather, I could work whenever and as long as I wanted to, meaning you need to be somewhat proactive and ask for what there is to do, and manage your own working rhythm. They are inspiring, hard working, warm hearted people that made me feel welcome and appreciated. As I was there in a period without vegetables and fruits (almost everything the family eats is self produced), and am vegetarian, I bought some vegetables and fruits to add to the delicious bread, eggs, cheese and other meals provided by them. There are many animals on the farm, and Stergios and Zois are amazing company, too. Thank you for everything and hopefully, see you soon, beautiful family!

I overall had a great time. The children are wonderful. I really enjoyed providing a workshop for them. I wish I coud have done that more. Everyone is very friendly and sweet. Its quite far from the next town and when everyone leaves it can be a little lonely, but its definitely relaxing and surrounded by beautiful nature. Thank you so much for the great experience :)
