We had the pleasure of hosting Vanessa with us for four months! From the very start, she stood out as being extremely capable, with a strong work ethic and common sense that made training and working with her a real pleasure - she was very quickly able to work independently and did awesome work, no matter where she was helping out.
She was super reliable throughout her stay too, always happy to lend a hand and also very often being the one to catch the “little details” that mattered. I can say with certainty that many of our guests have had a better time here because of Vanessa’s contributions to our team. For much of her time with us, she was helping train our new team members, and we knew 100% they were in good hands!
Thank you for everything, Vanessa. You’re always welcome back here, anyone who you join in the future will be so lucky to have you! :)

Filip was a great addition to the project. He is very helpful, reliable, always in the mood and he loved being in the garden. He could tell us clearly what he needed so it was easy to adapt and to ensure he had the best possible experience during his stay. We’re happy he is coming back into the project! :)

I would highly recommend volunteering at the monastery. Spyros the ever welcoming host/Innkeeper and longer stay volunteers are always in need of a helping hand. Always thoughtful and respectful of your own needs, working hours and time off.
Whatever you bring to the monastery, skilled, unskilled, youthful energy or life experience, there is a place for everyone.
The monastery profile, volunteer feedbacks and even the Google reviews (unusually) are refreshingly accurate.
My initial visit of a few days extended to almost two months. I’m happy to say I’m now heading back for a similar stay.
Spyros, Holly, Mac, lovely guests and especially Blanco, you have my heartfelt thanks.

We stayed with Paula and Is for 1.5 wonderful months and are deeply enriched by the experience!
Paula and Is are kind, patient and knowledgeable, we learned an incredible amount from both of them — gardening, animal care, and building skills that we will continue to carry with us. Helping to repair the chicken coop (fingers crossed it stays strong!) and building the greenhouse together were especially memorable.
Beyond the work, they went out of their way to show us the beauty of the Blue Mountains. They introduced us to fantastic local spots and beautiful landscapes and scenery. We also shared many memorable meals and deep conversations. We especially loved our evening drinks at the Hotel with Paula and the peaceful meditation sessions with Is in their beautiful meditation room.
Spending time with their clever and energetic dog Mila was definitely one of the highlights. She is one of the most well-behaved and joyful dogs we’ve ever met! Looking after the hens every day was also a great joy for us.
Our private room with en-suite bathroom was cozy, private, and comfortable the whole time. We also really enjoyed cooking in their large, well-equipped kitchen — we had so much fun sharing and exchanging different recipes and cooking tips!
Paula and Is are warm, generous hosts who created a truly special homestay for us. We highly recommend their place to anyone considering a Workaway in the Blue Mountains. Whether you’re looking to learn practical skills or explore the region, you’ll be in excellent hands.
Thank you Paula and Is — we’re so grateful for everything! ❤️

We spent 10 days here and had a really positive experience overall.
Before our arrival, communication was smooth and friendly, which made planning the trip easy. Finding the place itself was a bit of an adventure, but once we arrived everything worked out perfectly. The town is easy to reach from Sapa and has everything you might need, including shops, restaurants, and other basic services.
When we arrived, we were welcomed by the other volunteers and later introduced to the local team managing the project while Nadine was abroad. They provided all the information we needed and quickly helped us settle into our accommodation.
The highlight of our stay was definitely teaching English to the adult students. Four evenings each week, we spent two hours in conversation classes, and we genuinely enjoyed every session. Many of the students travel quite a long distance to attend the classes because they are eager to improve their English. Most of them balance work and family responsibilities, so finding time to practise outside the classroom can be difficult. Despite that, they always arrived motivated, smiling, and ready to learn.
At weekends, the project also runs educational activities for children aged 6 to 14. Rather than focusing only on traditional teaching, the aim is to create a space where children can explore new ideas, make choices, and experience a more flexible style of learning than they might find in regular schools. This makes the volunteering experience varied and interesting.
One thing we learned is that every volunteer brings a different personality and teaching style. There is no single “correct” way to lead activities or classes, and part of the experience is discovering what works best for you. It was a great opportunity to gain confidence and try new approaches.
The house itself was beautiful and created a welcoming atmosphere for both volunteers and students. The surrounding area is stunning, with plenty of opportunities for walks and exploring nature during your free time.
Looking back, one of the reasons we enjoyed our stay so much was the wonderful group of volunteers we shared the experience with. We were lucky to meet great people, and together we created many memorable moments.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be part of this project. We wish you all the best for the future and hope many more volunteers will enjoy the experience as much as we did.

From the moment I arrived, Jane and Andrew made me feel like part of the family.
Jane is a fantastic cook and having home-cooked meals together set the tone for the whole stay — warm, generous, and genuinely welcoming.
The property itself is beautiful, surrounded by nature and animals, and the work was anything but repetitive.
Stable cleaning, feeding horses, gardening, renovations, mandarin picking — every day brought something different.
Working alongside their son Austin made it even more enjoyable; great energy and always a good laugh.
Andrew's racing simulator is an experience in itself
seriously impressive,
Evenings winding down in the jacuzzi after a full day's work?
Hard to beat.
I left feeling rested, grateful, and already looking forward to coming back.
Highly recommend this one.

To my dear brother and sister,
we would like to thank you once again for everything. We truly enjoyed our stay very much. We spent 5 days here, sleeping in a tent and eating delicious local food. Whenever I needed a bit more protein, I simply went to the village to buy some eggs. Every meal was cooked over a fire in a traditional way, which made the experience even more special.
Getting here from Kathmandu was an adventure in itself. The journey took us around 5 hours, but thanks to the kindness and helpfulness of local people along the way, everything went smoothly. If you are unsure about the route, don’t worry—people are always willing to help.
About work, my girlfriend loves painting, so she spent much of her time painting during our stay. I helped create a stone storage area, joined a painting session one morning, and also made a world map where all Workawayers can mark where they come from. This place offers plenty of space for even hundred people haha, pretty big if they need You can choose to stay inside, in a tent, or even sleep under a roof outdoors—it is completely up to you. The temperature in May was perfect: a sweatshirt in the morning and evening, and a T-shirt during the day. There are several toilets and two showers. Sometimes there is hot water as well—it all depends on the electricity supply. You can also buy various drinks and snacks on site.
If you wake up early, you have a chance to see many mountain peaks and even the highest mountain on Earth during sunrise. I was lucky enough to experience this twice, and it was truly a magnificent sight. The surrounding nature is beautiful, and you can see many animals, including birds and deer. The local villagers are very kind and friendly, although there can be a language barrier. There is also a beautiful café and a temple within walking distance.
Most importantly, the people here are amazing. We had many wonderful conversations, every member of the family was warm and welcoming, and the spirit of this place is unforgettable.
We wish you all the best and hope your place becomes everything you dream it will be.

Roushana stayed with me last summer for 2 weeks more or less whilst it was super hot. It is difficult to work in those conditions therefor Roushana chose to work later in the day after the sun has set and removed an awful lot of weeds for me. She s hardworking and knowledgable. She s a very trustworthy and kind person, I d love to have her back as workawayer or housesitter.

I had an amazing experience volunteering here and can’t recommend it enough.
From the moment I arrived, Mark and Mint made me feel incredibly welcome. They are genuine, kind, and thoughtful hosts who really go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. Whether it’s taking you out for local food, showing you around Phitsanulok, or simply having great conversations, you feel like more than a volunteer—you feel like a part of the family.
The work itself is very easy and straightforward. Mark explains everything clearly and shows you exactly what needs to be done so there’s never any confusion. It’s best to be proactive though—if you see something that needs doing, just jump in and help out.
Teaching was a real highlight. The classes are interactive and fun, focused on conversational English. We covered engaging topics like describing people’s clothing, along with a range of useful and interesting subjects that really get you thinking and speaking.
What really makes this place special is the atmosphere and family. It’s relaxed, positive, and social, and you can tell a lot of care has gone into creating it. Mark and Mint are also incredibly flexible and social and can tell you anything you might want to know about Phitsanulok or Thailand, making the whole experience even better.
Phitsanulok ended up becoming my favourite city in Thailand. It has a great local feel, amazing food, and with Mark showing you around, you get to see parts you never would otherwise, if you get the chance try to local radish dish!!!
Overall, this was a truly special experience. I’m very grateful for the time here and would happily come back again. I can't thank Mark and Mint enough for the time I spent here, a core memory I'll never forget.
I can't wait to come back again!!!

My two weeks here were absolutely wonderful, especially since I had just arrived in Australia and everything was so new to me. Talking with Katie and playing with Delilah and Freddie really helped me get used to hearing English every day. Snippy was also incredibly sweet and accepted me right away.
As a fellow veterinarian, Katie taught me so many valuable things that will be incredibly helpful for my future career. Even though my English wasn't perfect, she was always incredibly kind and spoke in a way that was easy for me to understand. I really hope I was able to be of good help to her during my stay. Thank you for such a warm welcome!
I look forward to seeing the whole family again someday—including Dave and Tiko, even though I couldn't meet them this time—when the kids have grown up and my English has improved. Using this precious experience as a stepping stone, I will do my best to work with horses here in Australia!

Me and Leah had a great time staying here during May. We were with 3 other volunteers so the work was pretty light. The animals are very sweet and so is the family. We only had a few family meals (which were delicious) so most of the time had to cook for ourselves in our seperate kitchen. They gave us 20€ a week for food. It's clear that Salvatore works very hard and is constantly on the go, but he will still find time to help you if you need it. Overall I would recommend! Especially if you like to hang out with animals all day.

Dave & Aune are lovely people with so much to teach you if you're open. I had am amazing time helping on their property-- it's absolutely beautiful the nature, the yoga shala, the gardens, everywhere is so well taken care of and intentional. They are very fair hosts, they always came to make sure I knew when my work for the day was over and to drive me back to the kitchen for lunch. Speaking of food the dinners & cakes Aune made were not only delicious but healing- I felt better, after a few days of eating her incredibly food. I am so grateful for my time at Mt Jukes, even after a short 12 days I felt at home here. Thank you Dave & Aune for a beautiful time, I will be back for mango season someday:)
