I stayed with Melissa, Elicia, Michael and Niklas for two weeks, and it was truly a wonderful experience. They are incredibly kind, sociable, open-minded and welcoming people who immediately make you feel included. I shared this experience with another Workawayer, and we stayed together in a cozy guest house. We quickly built a great friendship, which made the experience even more special. Life in the community was very enjoyable. We spent a lot of time together, especially during lunches and dinners, sharing meals and conversations with everyone. The work included making wood chips, chopping firewood, cleaning wooden decks, watering the garden, and other seasonal tasks. Some days were more physically demanding than others, but we always had complete freedom to organize our workday, take breaks when needed, and work at our own pace. Everyone was incredibly supportive, helpful, and always ready to lend a hand whenever necessary. During our free time, we enjoyed the sauna, swimming in the lake, walking through the forest, exploring island life, and visiting nearby islands. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful and offer the perfect balance between nature, community, and relaxation. My dog Luna was also incredibly welcome from day one. Everyone was always happy to give her attention and cuddles, and she had the best time running around freely and playing with the other dogs. Seeing how comfortable and happy she was made the experience even more enjoyable for me. What made this place truly special was the feeling of belonging. After only two weeks, I genuinely felt like part of the community. It didn't feel like I was staying with hosts—it felt like being surrounded by lifelong friends. Leaving was much harder than I expected, and if I could have stayed longer, I absolutely would have. Thank you for everything. I will definitely be back soon. ❤️

Dear Francesca, Matheo, and Pietro (= Thank you so much for two wonderful weeks in your cabin and home. It was truly a joy to experience your relaxed way of welcoming us with so much freedom and kindness. Milan spent his days building with stones in your incredibly beautiful, sloping garden. Anna helped with the household tasks. We were deeply grateful for your flexibility and care for Vivi. We wish you all the very best that this world has to offer. I had a wonderful stay with Lauren and Cairon and their daughters. Lauren is incredibly kind; she makes sure you have everything you need and is always looking after your well-being ! Her frankness and humor are sure to win you over ! During my stay, I helped with the farm work (caring for the animals, cleaning the enclosures, etc.). I looked after the girls, Ellia and Calla, two little bundles of energy ! But they are adorable. I also helped with some odd jobs around the house. I had plenty of free time to explore the area, and there are so many beautiful things to see ! Lauren's house is only an hour from the Rockies and 20 minutes from Bragg Creek, a very pretty village. I highly recommend Lauren as a host; I will miss her and her family very much !

I volunteered for the month of May, and it was a very interesting, intellectually engaging work exchange. The work going on here and the future plans are super exciting, and volunteers are treated very well. The accommodation is great and newly renovated, with a kitchen, living room and private bedrooms for volunteers. The lunches provided are also freshly cooked and have generous portion sizes. Eliza, Suzanna and Mario are really kind, warm people who made me feel welcome straight away. I strongly recommend this project to those interested in rewilding and permaculture, and I'm excited to see how it evolves in the future.

Nuestra experiencia con Nina fue realmente encantadora! Nina es una anfitriona muy atenta, empática y amable. Su finca está prácticamente escondida en el bosque: allá encontramos silencio, relajación, animales preciosos (pájaros, monos, insectos), aire fresco y un alojamiento rural encantador donde pudimos cocinar por nuestra cuenta. Las tareas eran sencillas pero gratificantes, y sobre todo, Nina, una persona muy amable y dulce, siempre decía "por favor" y "gracias", algo que no siempre se ve. Recomendamos esta experiencia a cualquiera que busque un lugar de reflexión y respeto por la naturaleza y por sí mismo. Arrivederci Nina y Samu!

Semy & Mahmut became part of the family, we felt that they had lived at our house for ever, as they knew exactly what to do, David & I would make them very welcome if they ever want to come back, really will be sadly missed x

She brings a positive energy to our ashram and her pleasant demeanor, kindness, and polite attitude make her a joy to work with and a valued member of our community. I made the most amazing memories here! Juliane and Maik were sooo kind, always helping me solve daily problems. Working in the garden was absolutely wonderful,you can feel peaceful in Apolda.i very appreciate that i can be the first workwayer here!

Maarten was amazing with the animals and he really knew how to build things . His help was so appreciated . Unfortunately he wasn’t here long enough for me to get to know him properly, but we hope he might choose to come back here so we can rectify that.

Luciano stayed with us for several weeks on our micro-farm, and it was a real pleasure to host him. He is a very conscientious and reliable person who always strives to do things properly. Whatever task he was given, he approached it with care, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to do his best. His work ethic is excellent, and he can always be trusted to complete tasks thoroughly and responsibly. Beyond his work, Luciano is curious about the world around him and takes a genuine interest in people, ideas, and different ways of life. He is open-minded, thoughtful, and enjoys connecting with others. Throughout his stay, everything went smoothly. He was friendly, respectful, easy to live with, and always maintained a positive attitude. We are very grateful for the time we shared with Luciano and highly recommend him to any host looking for a hardworking, considerate, and genuinely pleasant person to welcome into their home and project.

Liz was our first workawayer and the 2 weeks we spend together have been so wonderful! She was a huge help in our garden. Working independent and hardworking on cutting grass, weeding and feeding our animals. We also had the chance to spend some lovely afternoons and evenings together, chatting, learning about languages and cultures, sharing stories and memories, visiting events and cooking/eating together. We are extremly grateful for having had the chance to host Liz and we wish her all the best for her future travels and dreams

We spend 3 months at Ray’s house, it was a great journey. Thanks to him we were lucky to be introduced to so many amazing people. He always did his best to give us the opportunity to try so many different things/activities. We are so grateful for that. If there’s something you are interested in, don’t be shy to ask him about, you can be sure he’ll manage to help you. Lady Phoebe, the little sunshine of our trip, is always down for cuddles and walks. She is the cutest dog we’ve ever met in our life. If you have the opportunity to meet her, you will definitely miss her afterwards. Rei, you already know how thankful we are for the time we spent together. Thank you again ☀️

10 star experience! We were welcomed in the farm family from the very moment we arrived and the place felt calming and dreamy. After only a few steps we wishpered to each other that this couldn't be real, it looked to great to be true, everywhere we looked there were thriving trees and beautiful flowers! Furthermore we found ourselves with 4 beautiful furry girls, to play and cuddle with! This experience isn't just a learning opportunity to understand the priciples of organic farming and permaculture. The farm will make you understand what it means to be part of a community in Kenya, you'll find yourself working towards the sustainability of the environment and also empowerment of people and the land. The food provided is amazing, simple, local, organic ingredients always cooked with a sprinkle of magic touch from Coletta. We loved our typical accomodation, we felt blessed! During our time we were involved in many different tasks on the farm, we always talked them out in the morning before the day started. Everyone you'll come across is so friendly and if there is any questions they are happy to answer. New ideas are elaborated together so definitely worth to bring them up as they are always valued and needed to progress towards the goal. We were meant to stay 3 weeks but we ended up staying two months, we were greatful to have met the team and we know we will be part of the family. This is what you get in exchange, not an experience, a family. To wrap it all up, if you are open to getting carried away by the positive energy of this farm and willing to make an impact on your life and their lives, this is the place to be, you'll feel right where you are supposed to be. This was my first time doing Workaway, and I couldn’t have asked for more. Douglas and Simone have built a beautiful life for themselves and their kids. They made sure I felt part of the community during my stay, and got me involved with events happening with their neighbours and in the villages nearby. The area around the house is lush as well and is great to explore on foot or by bike. There are plenty of interesting projects at the house, which meant that I got a lot out of my experience staying here. Douglas can turn his hand to anything, and he explains how to do things in a patient and clear way. Simone is a font of knowledge for everything plant-related and has plenty of inventive natural solutions to help grow the work-in-progress food forest. I really enjoyed my time here and am keen to stay again!

This experience was incredible, and I'm not exaggerating! My review won't do it justice... Michel and his family are the kind of people you're grateful to meet along the way. We shared many meals, conversations, and karaoke :) Their home is beautiful, and the tasks were clear: we worked in the morning, and the rest of the day there's so much to do in the area by taking some buses. Since there were several of us travelers, it was a great opportunity to connect with people from different countries. My friend and I stayed longer than expected, and even days later we're still reminiscing and missing it!
