Where to start! I expected it to be a special experience, but it exceeded all my expectations.
Shamser’s project is really amazing, and you can see its positive impact every single day: happy children who are curious, playful, and full of laughter. It was incredibly rewarding to contribute to this together with the other volunteers. There are many different ways to get involved: cooking with Didi, gardening with Sita, or building and carrying materials with Krishna. There is something for everyone, and you can also do suggestions yourself. Personally, I especially enjoyed spending time with the children. It put a big smile on my face!
Shamser is very dedicated and genuinely interested in the volunteers and other people around him. If you need anything or have questions, he is always willing to think along with you and help make things happen.
The school has everything you need for a comfortable stay, and in the village (just a 3-minute walk away) you can buy the most delicious samosas or stock up on fruit, vegetables, instant coffee, tea, cookies, and much more. It quickly becomes your home away from home, and the surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities for hiking and other adventures.
After spending 1,5 week there in March, I returned for another 2,5 weeks in April, and I could easily have stayed even longer. The experience filled my heart with joy, gratitude, and many meaningful connections. I had the opportunity to experience the local culture and traditions, and the children even taught me some Nepali. It was an unforgettable and, I dare say, life-changing, experience. I hope to be back someday!
Dhanyabad! (Thank you!) 🙏

I had a great time with Marta, Naomi and Florian. I felt very welcome. Both had a lot of stories about their travels and experiences in life. Naomi is such a cute child and is lucky to have such great parents. While working in their garden, I learned a lot about crops and the right way to work fields. Permaculture is so interesting and inspiring. So is their sustainable way of living. I definitely took some positive influence with me.
Thanks to you two.

This was a very special week for both me and Sjoerd in different ways but also similar. The residence of Philippe and Sieska is like a dream, something you want to hold on to and keep for yourself as a special place to travel to in your mind when you feel out of contact with life and yourself. We will most certainly come back, as they are also the most warm and thoughtful people with whom you can have a great laugh as well. Their life inspired us in many ways and we will cherish this experience probably forever. I already miss the beautiful animals and the sound of the river when you wake up. Thank you for letting us have look into a little piece of your being, love Inez and Sjoerd

Had a great time at Nimbu. The location is amazing, right on the beach, with a beautiful sunset in front and walking distance from the surf. I had to organize a daily yoga class in the most beautiful shala on the beach and do the check-ins. Theresa is such a kind person ensuring everything is well arranged and very easy to communicate with. The local staff is very friendly also. I would definitely recommend!

Susanna and Ruben are absolutely sympathetic workawayers, doing a great job on the property with tasks of maintenance and painting outdoors. They even helped Monica wirh packing in the former apartment after Monicas mother had died!
We are glad about all we got help with, interesting talks while having lunch together and of course they cleaned the guesthouse impeccably!!
Welcome back when it's time to bring in the hay 😅😅

Owen stayed with us around 2 weeks in April, and we cannot recommend him highly enough! He was an incredible help to us and integrated himself perfectly into our daily routine. Owen took on a big amount of responsibility, especially taking care of all our animals, which included feeding, watering, cleaning and moving tons of material around. Furthermore he even took full responsibility for our poor orphaned triplets incl.the bottle-feeding of them. We could trust and rely on him completely. He also helped us chop firewood and always made sure to keep the fire in the kitchen going.
Owen helped us with absolutely everything. He cleaned, organized, and sorted without needing constant supervision. He is an incredibly reliable, calm, organized, and clean person who adapts very quickly to new situations. Once given instructions, he helps completely independently.
He was also wonderful company. We enjoyed many great conversations with him, and he was always eager to help out in the kitchen and showed a genuine interest in everything we did. Unfortunately, his stay was short because his travel plans were already fixed, but we would love to welcome him back anytime. He was a huge help, he is the kind of volunteer everyone hopes for, and we highly recommend him to any future host. We wish Owen all the best for his future t and hope he will visit us again soon—ideally for a much longer stay!

I didn't actually get to stay with Carlo and Sophie because our timelines didn't quite work out, but I did get to visit them at the farm. When they heard I had found a project in the area they invited me and a friend over for a delicious lunch, picked us up at the nearest bus station, gave us a tour of the farm and showed us around Pari. Carlo and Sophie are both super kind and fun people! The land, for which they have great plans, is absolutely beautiful and I'm truly impressed they feel confident to tackle a project on this scale. In my opinion the volunteer accomodation is still lacking the warmth I felt everywhere else on the farm, but with time I'm sure it will also grow into a haven for anyone who wants to give this lovely couple a helping hand. Much love to you, Bobby and soon the newest addition to the family ♡

What a help Ion was! One evening he simply showed up at my door, we had a good chat, and the very next day he started working and stayed for three weeks. I couldn't have wished for better support, and during his time with me, we accomplished so many projects. Ion is very detail-oriented, takes his time to ensure everything turns out well, is motivated to work and get things done, and, in my case, with mostly manual tasks, is also extremely talented. I also learned a lot from Ion on a personal level; he has a calm yet very warm personality and is mindful and conscious of himself and others. I am very grateful for the time I spent with Ion and can highly recommend him to all hosts! Thank you so much for your help!

We had the privilege to host Patrick for a full week. Patrick is an outstanding workawayer. He is a great guy, very kind and very friendly. He demonstrated his willingness in helping in DIY. Great skills. It was a hard work. Patrick has a very good level in French language. We had very interesting discussions on various topics. We thank you Patrick for your great help and for your kindness. We fully recommend you and of course it will be a great pleasure to see you again at Toulouse or Edinburgh!! Take care

Just realized we haven’t left feedback for our stay last year in August :) we had an amazing time with Tove&Urban at their little goat farm. Our job was mostly helping to build a wired fence around the garden to help keep the dogs from running off when off leash (sweetest dogs btw). We also cleaned the goat stable every morning, which was a good workout :) as we had to cut our stay a bit short we only got to help urban milk the goats once, but it would’ve been possible to do it more often (early hours, but beautiful!). Tove also showed both of us how she makes the amazing cheese which we got to eat everyday and which they also sold at local markets and events, which we also got to visit. Tove and Urban are extremely kind, bright, welcoming people, open minded, down to earth and always up for a good chat. They‘re very eager to give their workawayers a good time. We also got to swim in the beautiful river down at the bottom of their land in the evenings with very late sunsets. The little Swedish house we got to call our home for the time was rather rustic, but we liked the charm of it. Looking forward to visiting again some time ! :))

Living with Alexandra and Anca will always be one of my favorite experiences on Earth.
They are both incredible hosts, and the place they built and take care of is simply amazing.
As a volunteer, your work will probably vary a lot depending on what they are building at the moment, but there's something to do for any skill level. From gardening, to taking care of animals, to helping build new stuff around the yard or helping Anca in the kitchen (in exchange for this, you'll learn the tastiest recipes).
Food is plenty, the accommodation is comfortable and there's people constantly visiting this place + lots of things to see in the nearby.
Recommend this for anyone wanting to live closer to nature, meet wonderful people and live a simple life, away from the noise of the city.
Can't wait to come back! :)

We were very happy to have Silke join us for a few weeks in May 2026. We had a lot of different tasks to get done on the property and she was a great help in getting these completed . Silke is very meticulous and our garden has never looked tidier. There was a lot of work moving and placing compost and mulch in the garden. Silke did very well. We were happy to share some beekeeping tasks and Silke was a natural ! We also, spent a lot of time talking about our cultural similarities and differences and we were happy to learn more about her life in Germany. We wish her good luck in her journey through Canada this year.

I had a wonderful stay with Ivan, Valerie, the magical dogs and the (baby) goats. Super interesting to see the life and beautiful farm they've built and are building!
I was particularly interested in working with wood, and got some fun and challenging tasks, "screwed up" a few things for sure, but they were patient and helpful, there was space to learn :)
I was the only workawayer at the moment, and this was my first trip through the platform. It took me some time to understand the rhythm of daily life etc. but once I did I felt at ease and comfortable to take initiative.
Super grateful for this experience!

There are not enough words to describe what an amazing experience the farm was. Bishwo, Lena, Nishchal and Raj were all fantastic, caring, kind and good humoured people. Everyday was fun, interesting and yet hard in the most rewarding of ways. The set up was fantastic, from before I arrived, to helping me navigate my way from the airport to assistance with my onward plans. The day to day schedule is very balanced and has the right amount of work, relaxation and entertainment. Bishwo and Lena are also very flexible and want you to have the space to explore Nepal, a country they both obviously adore, and wish for you to do the same. The hostel environment gives you a great opportunity to meet new people on a frequent basis, which helps to keep the day to day engaging and exciting. My only complaint is that I had to go. I will definitely be back soon.

We stayed at the school in kelaa for one week.
Overall, we had a great time. The students were what made it special, as they are generally motivated to learn and very excited to speak to someone who's native language they are learning.
Moroccan hospitality really showed its true colours through the students, with many of them inviting us to their home to eat.
Our accomodation was good. We felt looked after. There were, however, a couple of occasions when the hot water ran out, but Rachid, one of the guides, made sure to fix it as soon as he could (later the same day), which we appreciated.
We were lucky enough to share our accomodation with some other great volunteers who were very respectful. Often we would hang out when we all had some free time together.
We want to give a special mention to one of the guides in particular, Said, who really made us feel like we stayed much longer than just 1 week. Though he was no longer working at the school during the time we visited, he made sure we felt comfortable. He would take us out every night and show us around the city, taking us to the best food spots. He was super interested in getting to know the volunteers, and had a special gift of bringing people together.
One unfortunate thing about our experience was that the school itself was a bit disorganised. It was normal to have classes booked last minute. Often we would have new classes added to our timetable the night before for the next day. While this was told to us at the beginning of our stay - to constantly refresh our timetables - we didn't appreciate this as it was difficult to make plans. Overall, we are very grateful to Abdel, Rachid, Fatima, Said and everyone who has made our experience so special. We hope to see you again soon ☀️
