We have a 40 acre permaculture farm in the tropical mountains of Utuado Puerto Rico. We are a couple Naldo and Alexa. We also have a glamping setup where we receive guests. Our farm is very beautiful, its a lush jungle setting with two creeks and a big river with a young fruit forests, veggie garden, medicinals, perennials and chickens. We have a four dome superadobe home in which we live. Volunteers stay in a tent with a bed and can use and hang out in a fully equipped outdoor kitchen on nice deck with sofa, solar power, wifi, running spring water, compost toilet, outdoor shower. Its simple off grid living but really perfect for people who enjoy immersing themselves in nature. We provide mostly organic veg and chicken food and welcome cooks. We have 4 big dogs so guests must like dogs and 2 cats so no allerigic peeps. We love music, we speak spanish and english. Farm tasks are hard! You will get hot, sweaty, itchy, carry heavy stuff, bend over a lot, and work on slopes, machete... If you dont like being physically challenged its probably not the right worktrade for you. We prefer couples or friends so that you can have company and work together. We have a bug beautiful river you can swim in.

Unless you have a car you will mostly be on the farm, unless we go out and you want to come.

Our farm is great for people wanting to experience sustainable living in the pristine tropical forest. We live in a rural area 10 mins from the town of Utuado. If you want to travel around the island you should rent a car bc public trans is almost non-existent.

Tasks vary there is always a lot to do from taking care of and expanding the food forest, lawn mowing, road maintenance, pruning trees, processing harvests, making potting soil, gardening etc. We work 3-4 hours a day 6 days a week, hours are flexible to how you are feeling, we will tell you the task and you make your schedule, just as a volunteer please make sure you are working min 20hrs a week. We can pick up from supermercado Pueblo in Arecibo, there's a linea sultana bus line that goes from San juan to Mayaguez and stops there. There is a possibility to airport pickup if you are staying long and we are available. We appreciate self motivated, independent people who are interested in permaculture/natural buiing/healthy living and accustomed to working with farm tools (line trimmer, machete, chainsaw and plants and generally adept with their hands. Jungle farm life can be difficult, it is often hot, wet and itchy and steep slopes. Please don't write us if you're not up to those challenges.
