Hello, we are happy, kind and hard working. We live in Rockingham, Ontario. We have a small farm and make maple syrup. We have modest vegetable gardens and are working towards producing much of our own food. We have chickens for eggs and meat. We have a family milk cow, and a draft horse and riding horse. as well, We are hoping to find the right person or people to hell us with fences and building, but also really hoping to find someone who can help us keep up with house cleaning, cooking and spend some good quality time with our children who are homeschooled. James age 5, Tera age 7 and Ivy age 9.
This could be similar to a nanny/ teacher position or it could be that you help primarily with building and farm projects and animals.

We live in a very beautiful, pristine and unique place tucked away in the forest. We have wonderful young neighbours that we get together with fairly frequently to play music and campfires and barbeques etc.
Our property is very beautiful. We have numerous water springs, and some very large trees, apple trees etc, and we are rural and quiet. We have a cedar log sauna that we built that guests are encouraged and welcome to use regularly if you like. You are practicing organic farming approaches, and you will have the opportunity to learn about maple syrup production.
We have 2 small guest cabins where workawayers will be staying. These cabins are not equipped with running water or electricity, and are heated with wood stoves in the winter time. It is certainly a fairly rugged living situation that is not suited for all.

Work here varies depending on the time of year. During spring and summer, we are normally putting a fair bit of energy into our gardens and animals (with fencing etc). We also make firewood (which we use to boil our maple sap during the maple syrup season) and lumber in this time.
Usually mid-summer and fall we are busy with various construction projects
In the winter, we spend a fair bit of time logging to build up piles of logs that we will plan to mill into lumber the following spring. And we also start preparing for maple syrup season, which begins usually late February and runs into late April.
We are very easy going, and happy people, and we will try to set you up with jobs that would seem like an appropriate fit.

As I mentioned, workawayers will stay in a separate cabin from our home. These cabins are equipped with solar lights, and a small kitchenette. They are clean and cozy, but small, and simple. The cabin has an outhouse.

The countryside around where we live has a vast network of trails where workawayers will be able to go on nature walks in the forest. There is a beautiful waterfall about a 15 min walk where we often go for swims in the summertime.
We also try to get out canoeing and fishing a little bit in the summertime.
Guests can expect privacy and tranquility, and also fairly physical, wholesome type of work.
