Descripción
We live in a small farming village called Trastika in north-eastern Bulgaria, surrounded by beautiful countryside and lots of green space. It’s a quiet, rural area with friendly, helpful locals and a strong village feel. There’s a small village shop for basics, and with the use of a car it’s just a 20-minute drive to Razgrad, where you’ll find larger shops and supermarkets.
This is primarily a housesit, and you’re very welcome to come a little earlier to get to know us, Chezzy, and the place before we head off. We have a few chickens, three pot-bellied pigs, and three cats — all part of daily life here. Care is straightforward and we’ll show you everything; no previous farm experience is needed.
We’ll be away from late February to mid-April, which is the end of winter here. All firewood and heating are provided, along with fast internet and electricity, so the house stays warm and comfortable. There is some optional plastering, decorating, and a little tiling that could be done, but there are no expectations — pet sitting and animal care is the main responsibility.

Staying with us offers a chance to experience everyday life in a small Bulgarian farming village, far from tourist routes. You’ll get a real sense of rural Bulgarian culture — local rhythms, seasonal food, village life, and the way neighbours look out for each other.
Our stay spans the end of winter into early spring, including Baba Marta, a much-loved Bulgarian tradition marking the arrival of spring. March is when everything turns green and the storks return to the village to nest and raise their chicks, which is a special and very visible moment in rural life here.
On April 12, it’s Orthodox Easter, which in Bulgaria is a bigger celebration than Christmas. We’ll be back just before then, and you’re very welcome to stay on and enjoy the Easter celebrations with us and the local community if you’d like.
The setting also works very well for remote workers, writers, and creative projects. With fast internet, a warm house, and long quiet days, it’s an ideal place to focus, create, or work online while enjoying nature and a slower pace of life.
We enjoy sharing meals, stories, and skills, and learning from the people who stay with us. It’s a relaxed, respectful exchange built around living together, caring for animals, and mutual curiosity rather than pressure or productivity.
