First of all, I want to say that I cannot express just how wonderful every single member of this family really is.
I traveled to Iceland last year, from September to November, after finishing school. I got in touch with Björgvin and we quickly arranged everything.

At first, I felt a bit intimidated because I didn’t know what to expect, but from the moment I arrived, the whole family welcomed me with great hospitality.
Björgvin, Gunnhildur and their three daughters are some of the kindest people I have ever met.
From day one, they made me feel completely at home.
Each family member has their own unique personality, and I am so grateful to have gotten to know all of them.
Thanks to them, I gained experiences that not only greatly shaped my trip but also helped me grow as a person.
The work was really fun and it was fascinating to gain all these insights into the Icelandic way of life.
The whole neighborhood is full of harmony and their home is a warm, welcoming place where everyone feels comfortable.
Beyond my tasks, I had plenty of free time to explore the island on my own, which made the experience even more special.
In summary, I couldn’t have wished for a better trip and I am so thankful to have found such a wonderful Icelandic family.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude for this wonderful family and the kindness they showed me during my stay. I was treated as part of the family from day one and had the best time getting to know them. We had great conversations in between a super flexible work schedule that consisted of household cleaning, gardening, and cooking meals for
… read more dinner. Gunnhildur, Björgvin, and the girls are all so easy-going and a pleasure to be around. I only stayed two weeks although I would have stayed longer had I not already planned a bike trip around the country. What an interesting stay in that family, I stayed with them for 3 weeks in September/October2022, welcomed really warm and friendly, got so much information over islandic life, and family life special! This 5 persons are so uncomplicated, so easy to come into there life! And there are also wonderful grandparents, which are quite interesting!

Akranes is not the most interesting town, but Rekjavik is close by, and Björnvig is always so kind to give you a lift!

Sabine was great to have around. She helped with evry ting we needed in ouer house. Cooked realy nice meals and was great with ouer girls. She was realy nice and we had a lot of nice talks!

… read more work was easy: the usual jobs one has to do in a family , flexible hours and also baring in mind my wellbeing and showing gratitude for what I did. After dinner I used to play a game or have a chat with the kids, in the evening many great talks about different subjects and the Icelandic way of living which enabled me to get more insight. The nature around? Just have a look out of the kitchen window and you see it the Atlantic Ocean which you reach in no more than a 3 minutes walk! The public transport is a bit complicated, but manageable.Also was I given a lift to Reykjavík, so I could participate in a tour which I appreciated a lot. Thanks for everything , dear all of you, I’ll miss you!

Kathrin stayed with us for 2 weeks. She is an absolutely wonderful person with a good presence. She is very hardworking, fast learner and does everything she does well. Our girls also really liked her and still miss her. We can absolutely recommend her and would have liked to have her for much longer time.

I stayed with the family for 2 weeks in June 2022. They welcomed me really warmly and friendly. We had a amazing time together (from the first minute on)! The working time was flexible and the work was easy and feasible. I helped in the household, cooked dinner and looked for the child. But you could do also other things, where your interests are based (gardenwork for example).
I feeled really good during that time - like in my own family at home. I missed nothing and was totally happy with everything and if it would be possible for me, i would stay there also for a longer time!
