Sustainable living practices and opportunities to volunteer in other areas of Nairobi.
No experience is particularly required, though we are looking particularly for creatives and volunteers happy to do quite physical labour and are happy to learn. People with natural construction experience, carpenters and other practical skills are a plus. We are also mostly Permaculture enthusiasts and designers and work along these principles to create kitchen gardens and common spaces.
An exciting opportunity to volunteer in the creation of an Eco Farm has arrived, located in the outskirts of Nairobi City. Here you will take part in daily farm work which includes tending to both livestock and the food gardens. Superadobe/earthbag building and other natural building techniques will also be used in building an outdoor kitchen and keyhole gardens. We will also be doing a Rocket stove and oven in this building building. We are also building a vermicomposting toilet and shower building just to name a few activities. The site is located in the wild, scenic plains on the edge of Nairobi, just behind the international airport. We have a seasonal river passing through the 5 acre private property and there is also presence of wildlife and resident rare birds. Volunteers will also help with every stage of the build from design to implementation and furniture making.

There is tent space available on the fenced grounds and *️️️️️volunteers are requested to come with tents and bedding*️️️️️ . We will be using composting toilets and water and toiletries will be provided. All food and cooking are shared amongst the volunteers on a daily basis and we request all volunteers to contribute to the food shopping expenses.
Volunteers will be expected to arrange their own transport to the farm. You can take a bus from the city center near the old railway station in Nairobi to Kamulu Town for 100Ksh or 1USD approx 1hr with traffic. The site is near Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (approx 15km away) . It will cost roughly KSH100 by motorbike to get to the site from the main road, Kangundo Rd and details will be communicated.
