Hi! I’m Richelle, a Canadian mom to my beautiful two-year-old daughter, Aria. We’re a little mother-daughter team who have spent the last several years living and travelling internationally, and for this chapter we’ll be spending time in Powell River, British Columbia, on the beautiful west coast of Canada.
We’ll be staying in a gorgeous beach house literally right on the ocean, and we’re looking for someone lovely to join us and become part of our little household for a while.
This Workaway is really about general support with everyday life. As a solo mother, having another set of hands around makes an enormous difference. Depending on the day, that might mean helping prepare simple healthy meals, tidying or cleaning up around the house, running an errand, helping with groceries, or spending some time playing, exploring, or hanging out with Aria while I get a few things done.
Aria is two, very social and curious, and we live a fairly relaxed, natural lifestyle. I’d especially love someone who genuinely enjoys being around young children rather than seeing childcare as simply one of the “tasks.”
Our days tend to revolve around good food, nature, the outdoors, community and a relatively peaceful home environment. We’re not looking for someone to come in as an employee or nanny—we’d love someone who feels comfortable becoming part of the rhythm of the household, contributing where needed and also enjoying their own time and independence.
And the location is pretty special. Powell River is surrounded by ocean, forest, lakes and mountains, with incredible access to hiking, swimming, beaches and the outdoors. The house itself is directly on the beach, so you can literally step outside and be at the ocean.
This would be a wonderful exchange for someone who loves nature, children and slower coastal living, and who wants to experience a beautiful part of British Columbia while sharing everyday life with a small family.
I’ve hosted through Workaway before and really enjoy the cultural exchange side of it—sharing meals, stories and perspectives with people from different parts of the world while still giving everyone plenty of space to have their own experience.
Mostly, we’re looking for someone kind, grounded, easygoing, responsible and proactive—someone who notices what needs doing and is happy to jump in, but who can also relax and enjoy this beautiful place with us. ❤️ -

We love the cultural exchange aspect of Workaway! Aria and I have lived and travelled internationally, and one of my favourite things is meeting people from completely different backgrounds and sharing everyday life, perspectives, food, stories and experiences.
Our cultural exchange will happen very naturally through living together—sharing meals, cooking together, exploring the area, going to local markets or events, spending time outside, and simply having conversations over coffee or dinner. You’ll be welcome to join us when we’re heading out or doing something social, while also having plenty of independence to explore on your own.
I have a varied background and am always happy to share what I know. I’ve worked in psychology, business, entrepreneurship, property management and hospitality, as well as yoga, Reiki and other areas of spirituality and personal development. I’ve also spent years travelling and living abroad, so there are usually some interesting conversations happening in our house!
I’m equally interested in what you bring. I love learning how people live in other parts of the world, hearing different perspectives and traditions, learning new recipes, discovering different ways of doing things, and exposing Aria to different languages and cultures from a young age.
If you speak another language, we would especially love for you to speak it with Aria! You’re also very welcome to share a favourite meal from your home country or teach us something you love or know how to do.
For me, Workaway is at its best when it doesn’t feel transactional. It’s two different worlds meeting for a little while, helping each other, learning from each other and hopefully both leaving the experience with something we didn’t have before. -

Ayuda
The help we’re looking for is very much about being an extra set of hands in our everyday life rather than having a rigid list of tasks.
Every day might look a little different. One morning I might ask you to make fresh juice for us or prepare some rice or vegetables for dinner later. Another day we might go grocery shopping together and divide up the list, or I might ask you to run a simple errand while you’re out.
A really important part of the exchange is also occasionally spending time with my two-year-old daughter, Aria. This could be playing with her, reading together, going outside, or simply hanging out with her for a little while so I can do some work, practice yoga in another room, take a shower, or have a little time to myself. Because of this, I’m looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being around young children and feels comfortable and natural with them.
There will also be some general household help—things like preparing food, cleaning up after meals, keeping shared spaces tidy and organized, helping with laundry or whatever small things need doing that day.
Sometimes we’ll do things together and sometimes independently. We might cook together, head to the store together, explore somewhere with Aria, or divide up what needs to be done and each tackle something separately.
I’m pretty flexible and informal, so I’m looking for someone similar: proactive, adaptable and comfortable with a household where rather than following exactly the same schedule every day, we communicate about what would be most helpful and go from there.
The overall idea is simple: help make everyday life run a little more smoothly, enjoy spending time with Aria, share some of daily life together, and have plenty of time for your own adventures and experience in Canada as well. -

Alojamiento
We’ll be staying in a small, cozy beach house directly on the waterfront in Powell River—you really couldn’t get much closer to the ocean!
Because the house is small, I may not be able to offer a traditional four-walled private bedroom. However, you will have your own designated sleeping/living space that is completely private to you and respected as your personal space throughout your stay. I want whoever stays with us to feel comfortable, at home and like they have somewhere of their own to retreat to.
We also provide food and generally eat very simply, naturally and healthily. Breakfast is usually something like oats or congee with fruit, and sometimes fresh juice.
Lunch and dinner are predominantly plant-based/vegan meals using simple whole-food ingredients—things like rice, quinoa, lentils, vegetables, soups, curries and salads. Occasionally we may eat meat or fish as well.
We’re very clean eaters and try to keep our food as natural and minimally processed as possible. We avoid unnecessary additives and GMOs and don’t cook with a lot of oil. When we do use oil, it’s generally olive or coconut oil.
If you enjoy simple, nourishing, whole-food cooking—or would like to learn more about it—you’ll fit right in. And of course, we’d love for you to share some of your own favourite foods and recipes with us too!
And perhaps the best part of the accommodation: the Pacific Ocean is literally outside the door. 🌊 -
Algo más...
There’s lots to enjoy here during your time off, especially if you love nature and being outdoors. Powell River is surrounded by ocean, forest, lakes, beaches and hiking and walking trails, so there are endless opportunities to get outside and explore.
We’re out and about quite a bit ourselves, and you’ll often be welcome to join us. We love going swimming at the recreation centre, visiting the library, walking the dog, heading to the beach, going for walks or hikes, exploring different areas and generally getting out of the house with Aria.
There are also restaurants, cafés, shops, local markets, historic areas and lots of beautiful places to discover. I’m happy to drive you into town when it works with our schedule, and we can sometimes explore places together or I can drop you somewhere so you can head off and have your own adventure.
At the same time, we also really love being home. The house is directly on the beach, so sometimes staying home, making some food, being cozy and watching the ocean is pretty hard to beat!
One important thing to know is that ours is an early household. Aria and I are generally in bed by around 8pm and awake around 6am. We keep the house quiet after 8pm, so this probably isn’t the ideal Workaway for someone who loves staying up late or having a busy nightlife.
We also ask that doors are closed gently—turn the handle first and then close the door rather than letting it click or slam—especially once Aria is sleeping.
We have both a dog and a cat, so you’ll need to genuinely enjoy and feel comfortable living with animals. And because you’ll be spending time with Aria, loving children and being comfortable around a two-year-old is really important.
Someone who enjoys healthy food and understands our whole-food style of eating would also be a great fit.
Overall, our home is peaceful, relaxed and pretty wholesome. We like early mornings, healthy food, animals, nature, getting outside, exploring, spending time together and then coming home and getting cozy by the ocean. If that sounds like your kind of life, you’ll probably fit in beautifully here. -
