  Would you like to participate and experience actively during helping pruning olive trees in march 2025 or harvest (October 2025) in sicily and taste the self-made organic olive oil?
  
  I offer during the following dates this cultural exchange and give you some learning opportunities about sicily, the sicilian culture, the sicilian food & specialities, the history of the town & neighborhood, love stories from the local town and the famous Italian Extra Vergine Olive oil.
  
  For personal & organizational reason the next workaway event (Pruning Olive trees) is scheduled from in march 2025 from
  friday 7th March 2025 until
  Saturday 22nd March 2025

  Pruning olive trees it is like a workout hauling or drag branches on the olive grove up hills.
  The help mainly is to cut small branches by hand with large garden shears or secateurs and pick-up by hand and move and carry small pieces of wood to a wood pile and move branches in a row in order to be later mechanical chipped in small pieces in may/June.
  
  About myself: My name is Pietro and I live and work in germany close to Frankfurt am Main and I travel two times during the year to sicily to my olive grove of my ancestors in order to continue in the fourth generation to cultivate, manage the olive harvest in october and pruning in march.
  I'm not harvesting for my living. My main job is in the automotive industry. The limited produced is only for family and friend consumption.
  
  Since 2020 I hosted app. more then 100 international volunteers and made several nice and positive experiences.
  During this experience you are part of a team between 4-10 volunteers. So you will join other workawayers from all over the world and make also friendships, connections and cultural exchanges & experience.
  
  As in the past years I'd like to host again a great motivated team with working spirit which will remain an unforgettable memory for each participant. Finally after this experience every participant who joined will understand how much effort is needed to produce an organic olive oil and how it should smell & taste. You will see and learn the complete cycle from the tree to the oil. Conversation and cultural exchanges during the day and tasks during your stay is highly appreciated.
  
  I'm looking for motivated and capable volunteers to help and support me harvesting olive trees and make a nice and friendly experience with my project "olive grove".
  
  Believe me that the harvest tasks is physically challenging because harvesting olives is a manual task and physically demanding and not everybody is capable to do it.
  We mainly use during the harvest in october four electrical harvesting equipment with a battery (back mounted or car battery on a portable carrier). Two abbacchiatore (italian word for this tools) from Campagnola Alice and two Pellenc.
  If you are interested in participating in the olive harvest, then you should search & watch a video of this harvesting method on YouTube. search for key words like abbacchiatore/Pellenc/Campagnola.
  And if you are convinced that you can handle the usage of this tools and the harvesting work, then start your application message with “I checked the harvesting method on YouTube with these manual electric harvesting tools".
  
  The expectation is that volunteers are motivated and are willing physically ready to do tasks together in a team and help and support each other.
  Locally paid worker will do the transport of the olives from the olive grove to the mill with a Pick-up.
  
  The accommodation is in my private house and we prepare together and cook our own vegetarian food & meals and dinner after the tasks. Cooking together is an important element of this workaway experience because it is supporting and improving the team approach and team spirit.
  If you are looking for ready cooked meals by the host or others and you expect to sit and eat (consuming) without being involved then this is not the right place for you.
  
  We are doing breaks during the tasks, but the time for coffee break and the lunch break is not considered as helping time.

  Participate and be part of this international team event in order to see, explore and understand a how a natural olive grove is producing very good and healthy italian organic olive oil.
  You are free to explore the area in the town in your free time.
  
  We will visit only in october and the end of the harvest the olive oil mill in the neighbourtown. Permission of the owner of the mill need to be given.
  
  Sightseeing in the town of Corleone & Campofiorito on sunday could be offered if there is interest and in addition get in contact with local Sicilian people, food, culture. Transportation to Corleone is limited and voluntarily gesture from the host. bus transportation is always possible for all volunteers.

  Ayuda

  If harvest is not possible due to heavy rain/ weather condition everybody helps out for doings things in the household e g. put & staple the fire food, swipe, cleaning rooms, cleaning bathrooms, kitchen & dishes, cutting & removing dorns and weeds or other plants around the house or at the olive grove, bringing/moving the firewood to the fireplace (living room) and prepare it for the evenings.
  Painting, repairing damaged fences or fixing new fences and also repair different stuff or something around the house or the olive grove.
  
  We harvest with electric harvest tools / lay and move large tends on the ground / remove & lift tends and put olives in baskets and jute bags or other receipients / lifting baskets and jute bags / prepare lunch & dinner together

  Alojamiento

  Private House with bright and well-kept 3x bedrooms and shared bathroom WC /shower for 4-5 person. Separate bathrooms for women and men. I offer overnight stay in the sepetate bedrooms with double or single bed.
  I offer a small italian breakfast included with fresh coffee, milk, Tea, eggs, oat milk, magarine, marmelade, confitüre, local bread, Haferflocken, oatmeal, cornflakes, Honey).
  
  Special requests like Nutella, vegan food or vegan ingredients, cookies, Yogurt, Peanut butter, snacks, chocolate bars, bacon, ham, cheese need to be procured and bought by workawayers.
  Expenses for extra beverages like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Lemonade, juices, beer, wine and others stuff need to be covered by volunteers. Volunteers can buy this extra beverages by their own in the small shops in the town.
  
  No availability of Glutine free. I do not cover expenses for gluten free food or ingredients. Gluten free ingredients and food needs to be procured and bought by the volunteers.
  
  A small vegetarian outdoor lunch with local vegetables, fruits, local fresh bread is prepared by the volunteers and the lunch break will take place in the nature olive grove. The vegetarian dinner is cooked late afternoon/early evening by the alternately volunteers.
  We appreciate receipts from all different countries from the participants.
  
  The procurement of the ingredients of the meals & food is done by myself.
  
  Tap water or Natural water from a natural water source is available at the house.
  
  I do not have WIFI in my house.
  Washing machine available. Ironing not allowed.
  
  No heating in the house available, but a nice and warmly fireplace inside in the big living room.
  
  Possibilty of sleeping in a tent inside the groundfloor/basement or outside in front of the house in tents brought by volunteers is possibile.

  Public bus transportation from Palermo main rail way central station to Campofiorito is given a take app. 1,5 hour.
  During your free time you can visit the town and do some shopping in the small supermarkets and get a drink or coffee in the local bar.
  In the evening we sit on the terrace. Guitar available. We play also sicilian card games like scopa or briscola.
