Our home, is 28 acres of land situated in Bridgetown, Australia, on elevated land giving stunning views, and with majestic granite outcrops amongst Marri-Jarrah regrowth Forest. A place of beauty and tranquillity. We are a family that live very simply and hope to inspire others to do the same. Our legacy is to leave a cleaner, more beauty-full, productive and joyous environment for the future generations. To change the world for the better by being the change we want to see in the world.

We are building a space, designed to catch rainwater and provide space for activities including yoga, home-schooling, permaculture, fruit and seed harvest, and seasonal celebrations. Our place will be off-grid, including compost toilets. We recycle and reuse as much as possible.

Simultaneously, using syntropic and other regenerative farming methods, and working with the natural cycles, we are revegetating the project area and enhancing soil. We will grow a productive perennial food forest and seasonal vegetable patch to share with the local community and for the benefit of generations to come.

The surrounding forested area of the property is full of flora and fauna, especially birds, and there is much work needed to make this area an ideal habitat for them, especially in managing the exotic weeds.

We love learning about other cultures, sharing our knowledge and skills, especially over meal with company and good conversation! We hope that by hosting we can make new friends and learn from our visitors as well as provide them with new skills and perspectives.

This project is a private, community focused non-profit, and workawayers won't be helping with any business related tasks.

Together we can change the world for the better. If this idea excites you we would love for you to visit and contribute to this dream.

We model conscious consumption and people will learn how to live with nature and consider their use of water and power, necessary with off-grid living.

We have a passion for healthy living, and can provide conversation and practices around healthy food, yoga, qigong, mediation, permaculture and a range of books that have inspired us.

As a home-schooling family we are often taking day trips in the local area to learn and there is the opportunity to join us on these outings. Many of these are in relation to local fauna and flora, and local history.

We are members of many local groups and we regularly attend weekend workshops in the area to learn new skills and connect with others. Groups we are involved with include the: Ashbil Community Garden; Greenbushes Community Garden; Blackwood Valley Small Landholders (BVSL) Group; Postcode 6255 Permaculture; Master Tree Growers Association; Transition Bridgetown; Bridgetown-Greenbushes Community Landcare; Living Free Movement; and Blackwood River Valley Paddling Group.

We are looking for people who are respectful, honest, reliable, physically fit, self responsible, enthusiastic and interested in learning and working collaboratively to share knowledge and skills. Most tasks will be done together. Any of the few tasks that are done independently we will be there to guide you on what to do, until you are confident, and will be close by if there are any questions you have while you are working. Vegetarian shared meals will be offered daily as a chance to share our cultures and get to know each other better.

Specific jobs include helping us: collect and put medium sized rocks in drainage channels; propagate plants; harvest; weed; cut grass and blackberry; make compost; mulch; dig holes for posts and trees; build wicking beds; move temporary fences; maintain chicken enclosures; move building materials; build a patio and deck; construct small DYI projects like mobile chicken hutches; assist local trades people as an extra set of hands with larger building projects (like holding materials in place); collect fire-wood; maintain fire-breaks; and general maintenance.

Having done some travel ourselves, we are always interested in other cultures and languages from around the world. Although we don't speak any other languages we are open to attempting to learn a few new words if we are able.

  • Alojamiento

    Alojamiento

Ideally, you will need to be fully self-contained in your own vehicle, swag or tent as we have no permanent accommodation on the property and amenities available are basic. We can provide a camper trailer, swag or tent if required. There is rain water and limited power, and we ask that you be mindful to minimise your consumption of these precious resources. You will have access to a camp kitchen, a shared outdoor shower and compost toilet.

We are vegetarian, including eating eggs and dairy. We will provide one shared vegetarian meal a day, likely dinner, although it could be lunch depending on what hours of the day you choose to work. We respectfully ask that if you want to eat any meat products that the communal kitchen not be used to cook it and that you use your own camp kitchen for this.

In Bridgetown, and the surrounding towns within half an hours drive, there are a range of galleries and museums, in addition to many cafes, restaurants, and parks. The surrounding forests have many walking and bike trails, and are full of flora and fauna. There is a weekly social kayaking group on Sunday mornings on the Blackwood River. There is a market at the River Park fortnightly on Sunday mornings and a produce swap on the alternative Sunday.

There are a few level areas that are big enough and have access for large motorhomes and buses. Note, the driveway is steep and unsealed, so not ideal for towing heavy caravans in 2WD vehicles. A normal 2WD vehicle will get up fine, it is only when towing a heavy load that there might be a problem. We have a 4WD farm ute that can assist to tow up the driveway if needed.
