Hi !
We are a French couple consisting in Marine (35) and Camille (35) and two old cats, living in Sweden since 2022. We bought a property with a long history in the middle of Sweden and decided to give it some love and life again ! Marine is educated as environment inspector and Camille is a professional cook. As persons we are calm, curious and have a wide range of interests, including hiking in the mountains, gardening and cooking (obviously), playing music, dancing, weight lifting, yoga, but also calmer activities like listening to music and reading a big book, watching movies, photography, or even PC gaming. Overall we are very happy with our lives, have a satisfying social life and a thousand plans for the future :).
So here we are, in Trolltjärns Gård (literally the Troll Pond's Farm), named after the old pond just down our property. It's full of life there and we have a couple of cranes coming back every year to raise their chicks ! Many amateur ornithologists come every year to take pictures of the birds down there, and the flora is rich as well. The general area has been populated since at least 8000 years and farms are documented since the middle ages. It's a very beautiful and quite remote place surrounded with lakes and rivers, soft mountains, deep forests and open fields. In the summer with have light 24h-round and it can be dry and hot at times, but during winter times we observe the northern lights right from our windows and jump in the deep snow from our patio. The temperature can plummet all the way to -35°C here ! Since we live in a Sami area we sometimes have reindeers in our field, but also moose and roe deer. We've hear about bears and lynx in our village but never some more than traces.
Since our move here we began to transform the place. The former owners had a very classic law-cut grass field with pretty much nothing else, so we planted fruit trees, created a home garden from scratch and an aromatic spiral, built a big tunnel greenhouse, learned how to take care of bees (we have two bee-houses named Oh-bee-One and Keno-bee) and how to use a scythe properly etc... We have a permacultural overview of the farm and try to follow its principles, not only regarding the food production but also the social and personal aspects of it. The ultimate goal is to be more self-sufficient about food and energy, while remaining very open to the world. It's a long time project and we are learning tons along the path !
In terms of organization, we are both working full time during summer and winter, and 3/4 time during spring and autumn, the two seasons when we have time to welcome you and do tasks alongside with you in the farm. We dedicate most of our free time to learn and build things - as said we are very curious and rarely say no to new things, if time and money allows it. We have also been Workawayers (guest side) before opening our own gates :).Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

We are very open minded people, both talkative and discreet, and we'd love to share what we learned so far ! We both speak French, English and Swedish, so if you want to learn or shake it up, you're very welcome to do so. We are in the process of learning Swedish as well and a bit of practice at home is always nice.
Otherwise we can share the basics of gardening and permaculture, how to tend to chickens and the basics of a more self-sufficient and environment friendly life. Take a look at the "help" section to figure out more about what we offer ! As we are also learning these we would be very happy to share experiences and point of views, especially regarding gardening, water saving, edible forest inputs, mushrooms, edible wild plants etc...
Camille is always happy to show and learn people our french gastronomy and ways of transforming and conserving food, and is eager to learn about how other people do ! If you have a favorite meal you'd like to make us taste, or if you simply love to cook, please do :). If you're curious about how to save food, avoid food waste, and how to be creative about vegetables, you are in the right place to learn.Ayuda
Regarding plans and tasks, here as some examples of what we are currently working on and need help with, depending on the season :
- The garden : time consuming but central ! An extra hand is welcome from spring until autumn, for example to saw or repot the plants, planting in the raised-beds and the greenhouses, weeding and watering, harvesting and taking down the garden before winter. Outside of the plants themselves, we usually use spring and autumn to fix / repair the raised-bed and prepare the greenhouses, and we need to figure out a way to save raining water for the future (if you have suggestions here, welcome !).
- The animals : right now we just have a few chickens. They are very friendly and easy to take care of ! We tend to the bees ourselves, and plan to have sheep in the future.
- The forest : picking berries, both in our garden and in the forest, is a very important annual task. It's always a lot of fun and you end up your days with a full belly ! We usually go out for a couple of hours or an afternoon, and come back with full baskets. As for mushrooms, we are not that experienced but enjoy the few we know. If you have knowledge about them, please share :) !
- General maintenance : cutting and gathering the grass during late summer is a big part of our work, too ! We like it a lot, it's very peaceful and easy but time consuming, and any extra pair of hand is very welcome. The more people the more fun ! Apart from that, emptying the old guest house to prepare for the renovation is on our list too.
- The edible forest : A big project ! When we bought the house there was a few trees already planted, and we want to extend it and transform it in an edible forest. It's still on an early stage here, we gather information, knowledge and opinions. We are going to start planting in 2026 for the local sorts, and experiment with more rare sorts in 2027. You are very welcome to plant trees with us !
We have done all the above tasks already at least once, and we won't let you deal with it alone of course ! We'll happily share our methods and learn from yours, and always do tasks alongside with you. We are also open to suggestions regarding improvements, tests and the like.
On the other hand, we don't need help and won't ask you to clean the house or take care of our cats and bees. Getting your own room clean before leaving is appreciated though.Idiomas

As for now we can welcome only one person at a time ! You will have a simple and cozy private room in the small "house" (see pictures) in the middle of our garden, just a few meters from home. There's a single bed in it, a small desk and a shelf working as wardrobe. It's connected to electricity and you can also access our Wi-Fi. Toilets and bathroom are shared with us in the main house, as well as the kitchen.
If you're coming with camping-car or camper : we can welcome couples :).
BUT we can't accept underage persons nor pets.
Regarding meals, we will provide lunch and dinner (vegetarian) during helping days but prefer to have some couple time and privacy on mornings and days off. You can of course use the kitchen as you wish, but we won't necessarily share the meals or be at home these days.Algo más...
Depending on the season you can discover the local activities in the village such as markets, musical venues, summer coffee shops, or paddle on the lake 500m from home, or hire a snowmobile 300m from home or even go skiing in the nearest resorts etc.. We have fishing equipment and bicycles to borrow, too. You're welcome to hike with us further away in the mountains too, if weather allows, but there are also several nice walks starting from home.
The bus station and connection to the main city is 500m from home. It takes on average 1h to travel to the city, and buses are rare on week-ends but frequent on work days. In the main city you can find both airport and train station to travel further.
There is a small grocery shop in the village with all the basics, and the nearest pharmacy, doctors and library are 10 min away in the next village, along with a slightly bigger grocery shop. You can even find a coffee shop and a pub in our village, and a pizzeria in the next one.
We are very calm people and enjoy the peacefulness of our life. Drinking alcohol is not prohibited but please keep in under control. Smoking is however not allowed in the house, but totally fine outside.Un poco más de información
