We're a family in a quiet village near Rayagada the Eastern Ghats of Odisha, India, surrounded by forests and tribal communities. We’re turning our large backyard into a sustainable garden/permaculture—growing veggies, herbs, and fruit trees—and would love your help! Additionally we are have 10 acres of mango orchards and do it's timely work. Tasks include planting fruit trees, millets, composting, building simple bamboo structures, and learning local farming methods. Now since the Monsoon is here and also being near hills the weather is fairly cold comparatively. (We also run a local eco lodge, if you don't like the dirt, you could take some charge there at the reception.)

You’ll stay in a private room, eat home-cooked Odia meals, and have bikes to explore nearby tribal villages and nature. No experience needed—just bring your energy and curiosity!

If you enjoy slow living, nature, and real India beyond the tourist spots, come stay with us! 🌿

Living with us, you’ll experience the real heart of rural India—not just as a visitor, but as part of our family. Our village is close to vibrant tribal communities, where ancient traditions, music, and crafts still thrive. You’ll have the chance to:

*Share daily life—cook together, eat traditional Odia meals (like *pakhal bhat* or fresh bamboo shoot curries), and learn local customs.
*Visit tribal villages—see handmade pottery, weaving, and festivals (if timing aligns). Many families welcome curious guests with warmth.
*Learn indigenous farming tricks—like seed-saving, natural pest control, and moon-cycle planting from elders.
*Exchange stories and skills—teach us something from your culture, whether it’s recipes, art, or tech tips!

    Ayuda

    We need help with:
*Building raised beds, composting, and soil preparation
*Planting, watering, and maintaining the garden
*Constructing simple bamboo/eco-friendly structures (trellises, shade nets, etc.)
*Setting up rainwater harvesting or waste recycling systems (if you have skills!)
*Helping with seed-saving and organic pest control

No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn and work with your hands! We’ll work together 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week, leaving you plenty of time to explore.

  • Alojamiento

    Alojamiento

You’ll stay in a **simple, clean private room** with a comfortable bed, fresh sheets, and a fan (it gets warm here!). Your bathroom is private, with a basic shower and Indian/Western toilet—we keep it spotless. The house is secure, with gates and friendly neighbors around.

We’re **not camping**, but if you love sleeping under the stars, our rooftop is perfect for that—just ask for a tent we have multiple!

    **Food:**
    - **Home-cooked Odia meals** (vegetarian + occasional eggs/fish) made with garden-fresh veggies, lentils, and local spices. Think *dalma*, *pakhala*, and mango pickle!
    - Chai twice a day (a must!).
    - We’ll teach you to cook if you’d like—or you can surprise us with a dish from your country!

*Note:* Our water is RO water. Electricity is stable with wifi.

You could eat with the family, share stories, and never go hungry. 🌶️🍚

  • Algo más...

    Algo más...

When you're not digging in the garden, there's plenty to explore! I'm an **avid bikepacker/ randonneur** and have mapped out incredible routes through the Eastern Ghats—you're welcome to borrow my bikes and gear. Here’s what you can do:

    - **Ride through tribal villages**, forest trails, and hidden waterfalls (I’ll share my favorite loops!).
    - **Sunrise hikes** up nearby hills for epic views.
    - **Visit weekly tribal village markets**—colorful, chaotic, and full of fresh produce and handmade crafts.
    - **Chill at home**—read in a hammock, practice yoga in the garden, or jam on my old guitar.

    **House Rules (simple but important!):**
    1. **Shoes off indoors** (we’re a barefoot and modest household).
    2. **No smoking/drinking** in the house (ok in the garden).
    3. **Save water & electricity**—turn off lights/fans when not needed.
    4. **Help with meal cleanup** (we cook together, we tidy together!).
    5. **Tell us if you’ll be out late**—just so we don’t worry!

This isn’t a hostel—it’s a **home**. We’ll treat you like family, and in return, we ask for respect and good vibes. 🚲🌿
