The Ju/Hansi San/Bushmen are the oldest surviving culture in the world and they are known also as hunters and gatherers. The knowledge of how to live and survive in harsh condition of nature surpasses all our imagination. The understanding of the balance in nature and the environment comes from thousands of years of experience. The family bond/closeness between the old the grownups and the children are extraordinary.

The San/ Bushmen culture is on the brink of extinction due to many different reasons ( civilisation, laws, land take, alcohol and many more ). The knowledge of the nature, medicine, hunting with a bow and poison, bush food and so much more will be lost for all times. Knowledge that was passed on through thousands of generation is almost lost to us.

Our bush camp is there to try to preserve some of the culture through tourism. We are all aware that the ancient cultures are struggling to fit into the new society called civilisation and that with most cultures it is a losing struggle. The camp tries to give 4 San Families the opportunity to show clients of who they used to be and are a proud people, proud about their own culture and heritage.

We are in the new century meaning that something like the traditional San/Bushmen does not exists because they do live in two worlds. You still will find Bushmen hunting and gathering in some parts of Southern Africa but with western clothing, cooking in pots and pans instead of ash and fire.
The camp is what we call an open living Museum where we show clients how the Bushmen used to live in the old traditional way.

With that we also started a small Kindergarten between 14-16 students so that the Ju/Hansi kids also have the opportunity to learn about civilisation at a young age. The kindergarten is run by interns that want to learn about different culture but will themselves teach old cultures something about civilisation.

Unfortunately we all know that education is the future and old ancient cultures and believes is the history.

The Ju/Hansi people are the oldest culture in the world the most ancient people. The Ju/Hansi people are the kindest, friendliest and most humble people that we are aware of. The interns can learn a lot about these people and their culture.

The way to live in nature with no modern products like for e.g a simple thing like running water, a pot to cook food in, hunting with a small bow and arrow, tracking but most importantly family value because with the San people family is the most important aspect of live.

The interns can also learn about nature and wild animals that live in Namibia. We are also cattle farmers meaning that they will also get a glimpse into commercial farming in Namibia.

The camp and Kindergarten needs help in two different sections.
The most important thing is the Kindergarten that starts at 8H00 in the morning until 12H00 midday. The kindergarten has 14-16 kids from age 2-10 years old. We started the kindergarten so that interns can teach the young Ju/Hansi kids the basic things starting from Hygiene to basic alphabet and numbers. Also painting and singing is a big part of the kindergarten because the Ju/Hansi kids love singing. The Bush Kindergarten is supposed to be fun for both the kids as well as the interns.

The second part is that the interns help the Bush Camp in the late afternoon with the European clients. The camp is all about the Ju/Hansi Bushmen and the interns should entertain the clients and offer them information about what they are doing in Namibia and the Kindergarten.

It will be either a luxury Tent with a on suit shower and toilet meaning the same accommodation like the Tourist have. If Bush Camp is full we also have small wooden huts with a lounge area and a TV that the interns can make use of. That is also part of the area that the Manager of Bush Camp lives in.

    Algo más...

The camp is in the middle of the Bush and in Namibia there is not such a thing as local Transport. So to go out and see the country will not be a easy feet. In their time of, the interns can spend some time with the grown ups of the Ju/Hansi learning about their culture and believes how to hunt, tracking bush food and medicine and much more.
TV is available as well as internet which the interns can make use of. Also if the intern stays for at least 3 months we will do a weekend out into the Etosha Pan.
