I reached out to Rob as needed some help constructing a wall. He came to us for just under 3 months. We have a 3 month maximum stay rule. Rob completed a variety of jobs. Rob is very polite, quiet, easy going, never complains & flexible,(as we needed to alter his schedule due to other workers & he was always happy to accommodate). Rob was always on time to start work & often gave of his time to get a job completed. We would not hesitate to host Rob again & hope we get that opportunity.

I spent 1 week with Tracey and Simon. It’s an interesting and beautiful place with a lot of animals! Tracey and Simon are very welcoming and generous. They also give you your own privacy and let you choose your own working hours. Tracey try’s to give you taks occurring to your own skills. I really enjoyed my week!

… read more keep to the set working hours of 11-14.00 & 16.00-18.00 on his working days & sometimes failed to clear up after tasks, but did manage the tasks with a fair amount of help & guidance. I had arranged for him to prepare his own meals (as I had a big project I needed to get finished) & this was a struggle for him to achieve around his working hours.

… read more various workshop items & areas, cement installation of a large curb stone area & Heather completed a massive pile of sewing projects I had not found time to achieve, to a much better standard than I could have ever achieved. These along with many numerous far too many to mention jobs, got completed to very high standards during their stay. Lance is great at cooking on the BBQ & they got along great with Ged & Laraine (our returning workaway friends). Who ever is lucky enough to host this truly amazing couple will be just so happy at what they can achieve & how lovely they are. I am so grateful to them for all they achieved from my long list of to do’s whilst with me & they are going to be truly missed. I hope they make it back to me again in the future.

Michika is a pure delight to be around. She is positive, enthusiastic, polite, happy, fun, kind & considerate. Michika worked well with our other workaways, as well as on her own. She stripped the wall paper off several of the Chateau apartment walls, prepared the majority of the Cottage walls for painting (cleaning them) & cleaned my rabbit
… read more cages, as well as helping feed my animals. Michika is intelligent, understood & under took the tasks to a high standard & within good time scales. She worked extra hours for me to achieve all the tasks during her 2 weeks with us, for which we were extremely grateful. She also helped me with the shopping. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Michika always jumped up to help prepare, cook & clear up after our evening meals. I really am going to miss this wonderful lovely young lady & look forward to our continued friendship. I had some opportunities to work with other Workawayers and just simply spend time with them such as after work and dinner etc. They were all so generous and kind to me and I genuinely enjoyed spending time with them.
Not to mention, the location is stunning! You can see the French Pyrénée from the place, and walking around the area is so refreshing and relaxing. If you love nature and calmness, it’s perfect for you! You will definitely adore their lovely animals because they are all friendly and come ask you to play with them haha
And lastly, a huge shoutout to Tracey, the best host I could ask for. She is a down-to-earth, funny, easy-going, compassionate, and thoughtful person who I got really, really close with. Words cannot describe how much her presence helped me during my Workaway and how much joy and comfort I felt with her. We had so many precious memories together but I wouldn’t describe them all (since I don't wanna make others jealous hahah) Also thank you Simon for helping me with instructions and a ride, thank you Bradley for being a great company and always being nice and thoughtful to me.

The location of the château is a paradise base to discover hiking routes in the French Pyrénées and in Andorra.

About the location, it is amazing, highly recommended if you love hiking and nature. The place itself, the castle and their gardens are also a paradise and I had all the confort than I could have imagined. They have also been very generous with the shopping of groceries.
We had maybe a couple of misunderstandings during my stay, due to the language and/or cultural differences I would say, but we could talk things through and be fine after.
Tracey is a super funny, intelligent, thoughtful, flexible and grateful host, and Simon was also very correct with me. All in all, I'm glad I met them and I spent this whole summer on the castle, where I had the opportunity to go on trips almost every weekend. Judit is such a ray of sunshine & brightens up the day with her infectious smile & positivity. She was challenged by some of the tasks set, but always managed them well. … read more sunshine, always upbeat, incredibly strong, can find anything lost or dropped (the best nail/screw finder on the planet), has a fantastic all round knowledge through working alongside Ged & a great cook too.
They work beautifully together via fantastic communication skills, they always come up the best ideas and solutions. They are spotlessly clean, tidy and the most wonderful people anyone can have the pleasure of spending time with.
Whilst with me, they created a shaded area in which to feed my two horses. This was completed in outrageous high temperatures and they never complained once. After this they went on to completely re-arrange, organise, paint, put up shelves in what was a complete disaster of a dumping ground workshop. Now it is clean, bright, tidy and you can find whatever is needed without wasting hours looking through everything. They did a truly amazing job and without my constant input, as I also took a week off. During this time they completed the workshop, whilst also caring for my 2 horses, Yoda my dog, feeding the fish and my 2 birds. They are true animal lovers and the animals loved them back. The 5 weeks they spent with me (1 of which I was away & missed them), but they kept me updated on progress, was the happiest I have been in a long time. They will forever remain my close friends. Anyone who has the privilege to host Ged & Laraine will be honoured. I miss them terribly and so look forward to hosting them again. They are simply, THE BEST.

An amazing 5 week stay at the chateau with beautiful people.

… read more extremely comfortable we shared super meals with great conversations and nice wine, plenty of beers and ice creams which were welcomed in such sunny weather, a short trip into the nearby town of Foix with its castle,many restaurants and bars.
We loved spending time with all the animals especially Yoda the ball mad house dog he is a fantastic companion who loves to be with you at work or play.
Lovely walks around the extensive grounds and we often ended the day in Tracey’s swimming pool for a cooling dip.
We became very fond of Tracey, who is super kind, funny and caring we had a lot of laughs and were introduced to her friends and cool family, we found it hard to leave the chateau as we really enjoyed our time there.
The work is interesting and made very easy by the fact they have every tool imaginable…..and more.
Tracey helps her volunteers all the time as she has boundless energy and encourages a relaxed and pleasant working environment interspersed with a bit of animal care……….we loved it all.
Fish,dogs,birds,cats and two wonderful horses, Tracey is a real animal lover and will encourage volunteers to get involved with the animals we really can’t recommend this opportunity high enough.
We will stay in touch and always remain friends with Tracey and her family and really hope to fit in a return visit.
