Our village Kunra is inhabited by Gaddi tribe and nomadic gujars. It is among the oldest villages in Chamba district and the Indian subcontinent.
The temple of one of the local deities dates back to 7th century AD which has been designated as a protected monument/ site by the national archaelogical survey of India and both students from all streams be it Archaelogy, ,Anthropology, Geology visit this region for research. The Pandavas FROM THE FAMOUS EPIC MAHABHARATA are believed to have stayed in this village during their exile from where it gets its old name Kuntapuri (named after their mother Kunti). For a cultural exchange or experience this place with its archaic heritage is unique & unlike the contemporary Hindu culture of the plains.
i need help with wall art or graffiti in the homestay and maybe at a public spot in the village.
Apart from that individuals with experience in hospitality sector and workawayers who do not hesitate to do manual work around the house;with unique ideas and ways to help in promoting responsible, sustainable tourism practices are most welcome.
Pre-covid workwayers have taken dance classes for the kids here.they have also helped paint and made graffiti at one of the local tea-shop and similar work at various other spots in the village.
On one such occasion have also performed in the annual village fair.
This place is hidden deep in the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas so its a haven for adventure and wildlife enthusiasts.
Physically fit individuals will be able to make the most out of their visit.
We also expect Workawayers to follow post-covid social distancing guidelines and also be respectful towards the local people and their age old traditions & ways of living.
