We are a German family living in the countryside in Benajarafe, 30 minutes east of Malaga.
Gerhard (49) is an online journalist and Maren (38) is a language teacher and translator. Our son Levi was born in November 2022.
We both work from home (Maren currently isn't working)
We have 2 dogs and 1 cat.
At the moment we are looking for a Spanish speaker or someone who speaks German (will consider English speakers for short stays too) to help us with a variety of tasks.
We are looking for a kind, child- and animal loving person.
We would like you to play with Levi an hour or so every day and speaking Spanish only to him (if your native language is Spanish) so that he will pick up the language faster.
Alternatively we would also consider someone who speaks German, but we don't want to confuse him with a third language at the moment (if it's a short stay would he ok).
Also we need a little help around the house like vacuuming (dog hair...) and sweeping the terrace, but not much.
Ideally some spring cleaning and tasks and sorting out stuff that we never get around to doing.
There is also some gardening to be done if you like or if you are good at fixing things/painting there are always some things that need improving.
Besides the chore tasks of playing with Levi Levi and daily vacuuming we can see together what you can do depending on your preferences.
Of course you must be an animal lover and it would be great if we could go away for a long weekend while you look after our animals once they know you (not a must)
We also regularly rescue animals and possibly need some help with that (vet trips, craving for them etc)
Also we would love to have someone who likes to cook🙂 We like cooking too,but always tend to eat the same things.
So would really love to take turns at cooking, so one day one of us cooks for all of us and one day you.
We invite you to practice your German with us if you are not a native speaker or also English as we're both fluent in English.
We have been travelling a lot around the world ourselves, Maren has also been a volunteer, and we are looking to host likeminded people.
We love travelling, meeting other people from other cultures.
We are looking for mature (mentality, not necessarily age) and independent people who don't need our care and entertainment 24/7. We love the company, cooking together, eating together etc, but we also like our privacy (especially in the evening when we like to retreat after Levi has gone to bed).
Also Maren has chronic migraine,so sometimes just needs some quiet time (the main reason why we need some help with Levi).
Please be aware that we are in the countryside and the beach, shops, bus stop are a 30 minute walk away (although we might sometimes be able to give you a ride).
So if you are easily bored or don't like walking this might not be the right place for you.
We can only host a single volunteer at the moment.
Ideally we're looking for someone who can stay around 4 weeks to be able to form a connection, but we can also host for just a week or so and give you a variety of small tasks.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

She is good company, uncomplicated, good with children and animals and always happy to help.
Highly recommend her to any host.
She fit right in and got on really well with Levi from the start.
She was so easy to be around, good company, but also giving us the space we needed.
You never had to ask her to do anything, she's very hands on and always saw what needed to be done and also had good ideas and proactively found herself… read more
It was kind of an awkward atmosphere from the beginning, something we have not known from previous workaway exchanges.

We couldn't have asked for a better "big sister" for him.
Anita is very sweet and considerate and we enjoyed having her around.
Levi loved playing with her and she was so nice and helpful and also very proactive and always found herself something to do.
She was a great help with our little son as he absolutely loved her.
She also looked after our animals while we went on holiday, they all loved her too 🙂
They were always motivated and hands on and good company.
Would have them back any time :-)
They are both very handy and fixed a lot of things.
They do their work independently and are super reliable.
Both are easy going and good company, we really enjoyed having them here!
They are easy going, nice company and bonded well with our animals.
They helped us with a variety of tasks - vet trips, cleaning, gardening, translating,...
Just give them a task and they'll happily do it!
They also had some own ideas which we always welcome.
