We are part of a national charity dedicated to supporting and restoring the country’s canals and rivers. Over the past 70 years our volunteers have managed to restore hundreds of miles of canals.

We run restoration projects called ‘Canal Camps’. They are a great experience for anyone who loves being outdoors and enjoys meeting new people from different backgrounds and of different ages. Our Camps also offer you a fantastic chance to learn new skills such as bricklaying, stone walling, machine operation and restoration techniques.

In groups of up to 18 volunteers, you can help with essential restoration work on the derelict waterways of England and Wales. Volunteers will be able to take part in various tasks from vegetation clearance to learning how to build a lock wall. Whether you are a complete beginner or have tried your hand at restoration before, you will be guided through every task by the Canal Camp leader and their assistant.

Whether you are a complete beginner or have tried your hand at restoration before, you will be guided through every task by the Canal Camp leader and their assistant.

Working outdoors, volunteers can find themselves carrying out various activities such as clearing vegetation and bush-whacking, or learning new skills such as bricklaying, stone walling, restoring locks, re-lining canals or creating towpaths. Our Canal Camp locations vary around the UK's canals but are mainly on the Cotswolds Canals, the Grantham Canal, the Derby Canal, the Lichfield Canal and the Wey & Arun Canal. Dates and locations can be found on charity's website.

    Alojamiento

Each Canal Camp is one week-long, and includes three meals a day plus endless tea and cake. Basic accommodation is provided, usually in a village hall or scout hut. A £70 donation for the week to cover costs is asked for.
Volunteers will need to provide their own camp bed or sleeping mat. All transfers to and from the accommodation to the work site are included but volunteers will need to make their own way to the Canal Camp. If travelling by public transport, volunteers can be collected from the nearest railway station.
