We spent 4 weeks doing this workaway as part of a 6 month trip around Europe, and it was something completely different for us. We were able to truly relax and unwind in a way that no other part of our trip allowed.

One of my biggest concerns in doing workaway for the first time was that I wouldn’t know how to do the work, or that there wouldn’t be clear instruction. This was not a concern at all! The work was simple, but engaging and rewarding. Also, Victoria and Harris joined us for at least the start of each task so we knew exactly what had to be done. The timing of the work was very flexible, ensuring that we could do all of the things we wanted to do in our free time while in France.
The food that Victoria cooks is unbelievably good. We never felt the need to eat out at restaurants because every meal in the house was a culinary treat. We were excited before every meal to find out what we would be eating.
Victoria and Harris are also fantastic company. Our chats over meal and the occasional drink were always riveting and amusing.
Overall, we feel like we found a real gem on workaway. We feel so so lucky to have stumbled across Victoria and Harris’s profile, and to have been invited to stay. Lukas came to us in the spring of this year and stayed for about 5 weeks. We normally have a couple stay with us as we are quite remote, but Lukas contacted us as a single Workawayer and we thought we’d give it a go. We were delighted we did!
Lukas is a charming, polite, hard-working young man who made every effort to do the jobs as requested
… read more and as we wanted. Nothing was a problem for him and he didn’t stop working until he was satisfied and felt that he’d done a good job. He was always on time and motivated. We had him do a number of gardening jobs, some with light machinery as well as looking after our chickens, all of which he did extremely well.
Lukas speaks fluent English and we had lots of interesting conversations over meal-times about the state of affairs in our world! His communication with us from the start and throughout his stay was excellent and he was totally dependable.
We can thoroughly recommend Lukas as a Workawayer (and more!) and wish him much success in his future endeavours.

A little late, but here's finally my feedback.
I had a lot of fun staying with Victoria and Harris. Their place is beautiful and quiet and the garden is huge so there is enough to do. The area is also spectacular if you enjoy hiking, visiting castles, or just relaxing by the rivers.

… read more be better. The work mainly consisted of tending the property and looking after the chickens. I laid a few tiles, helped with the wood chips and strimmed a lot. And of course I had to pet their two lovely dogs :)
The work was not difficult and the time flew by every day.
The communication between us was really good, no matter what I needed Victoria could help me. In fact, she was kind enough to help me with my vaccination appointments and even when I was sick for a week, they took very good care of me. Thank you again for that.
Because Victoria and Harris are native English speakers and we had a good chat over lunch and dinner, I was able to improve my English and learn new things.
I usually worked until 1pm, which is where we mostly had a nice lunch, so I had plenty of free time to explore the area and enjoy the weather. I can only recommend bringing your own car so that you can be mobile and not have to rely on each other.
Victoria is a very good cook, she made some great meals during my visit especially when friends came over. I felt like I was in a five star restaurant. Thank you Victoria.
I had my own little gite with a bathroom, a small fridge and even my own entrance. This enabled us to plan individually.

We spent 6 weeks in Le ruisseau, where we enjoyed the company and hospitality of Harris and Victoria, words are not enough to describe the beauty that is present in the area, truly the Dordogne is a special place that we will visit again in the future . . .

The work was as described in the profile, we did a little gardening, mainly getting rid of weeds and cutting some unwanted plants, we collected a couple of stones for the grass to grow well and we tidied the areas around the house, we helped with the chicken and clean their places and help move wood and bricks, relocating them to a better place. Harris and Victoria were always available and properly guided us on how to do each task.
They were always very nice to us and we felt at home all the time, we enjoyed the delicious food Victoria prepared and the conversations at the table were always interesting, it was great to learn the culture and the knowledge they have about many subjects.
As for recommendation for Workawayers, having a car or driver's license is essential, so that you can visit the important cities and places of this beautiful part of France. Luckily Harris and Victoria were great, they took us to visit some places and helped us when we arrived and when we finished the experience.
Overall, we had a 10/10 experience.

Marcello and Francesca are a great couple who have totally embraced the Workaway spirit. They stayed with us for a month and did everything we asked them to do, willingly, well and with a smile. On the days we worked together, they were happy to continue working beyond what was expected. We had a good time chatting together at length at meal times
… read more and they were great at clearing up afterwards! When we were out, they were perfectly happy to prepare their own meals and they left the kitchen in perfect condition. They were very respectful of our house 'rules' and our privacy and we enjoyed having them at our home. We would definitely recommend them to any other Workaway hosts.

Our experience at Victoria and Harris’ place was absolutely fantastic! … read more interesting, it’s always fun to talk about cultural differences and to share different experiences and world views, and we also practised our English, which was important, too! 😄
The tasks that we were asked to do were well explained by Victoria and Harris and they changed day by day, so we never got bored nor tired 😁 Furthermore, Victoria and Harris were always there if we needed help and they even helped us with the most demanding tasks!
We also had some more company, since they have two beautiful dogs and two super cute cats. They always behaved and they are just adorable with everyone! 😊
Finally, Victoria and Harris lent us one of their car, so we had the opportunity to move easily from on place to another and we managed to visit a lot of what Dordogne offers to tourists: castles, caves, beautiful medieval villages, cute cities and amazing landscapes!
We truly recommend this place because Victoria and Harris are the perfect hosts, they live in a beautiful house with all comforts and Dordogne is a magical region and it’s truly worth a visit!

For us, this is a large part of why we enjoy participating in Workaway – talking, sharing cultures, discussing different ideas, learning about different food, current affairs, etc, etc, and all this we covered with Albert and Denisa. We had a fabulous and memorable Czech evening where we enjoyed traditional Czech food and learnt a lot about Czech current affairs, it’s geography, history and music.
They are polite, courteous, respectful, totally honest and trustworthy, and clearly both very committed to their future studies and careers.
We were extremely sad to see them go. We wish them loads of success and very much hope to see them again.

Our work included mainly watering, weeding, taking care of the chickens, sometimes strimming and helping with some simple tasks. In general, the work wasn’t difficult and we enjoyed it. We had a wonderful time with the animals especially with the dogs Suki and Millie. They were great. We took them for the walks, fed them and played with them.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t borrow a car, so we rented the bikes. Even though we were limited by the distance or train connections we managed to explore the surroundings. Victoria and Harris sometimes took us to some beautiful sights, so we are grateful to them.
In conclusion, this Workaway experience was far better than we could imagine and we have fabulous memories we will never forget. They are an adorable couple and were so easy to have stay with us. They lived with us as part of our family and for some of the time we also had a young French student staying with us to learn English. They were delightful with her. Francesca and Pietro fitted in totally and were, at all times, extremely helpful and willing, always with a smile. They constantly asked us what they could do to help.
Their work mainly involved gardening and outdoor maintenance jobs, which they did with a lot of attention to detail, always ensuring that it was done the way we wanted. They also did a lot of painting, again paying incredible attention to detail whilst working very efficiently.
Our mealtimes were usually taken together and Pietro and Francesca were always there to help clear and tidy-up.
Francesca and Pietro had planned to stay for one month, but in the end stayed for almost 2 months. We were very sad to see them go and we know that we will always stay in touch with them.

Our experience with Victoria and Harris was incredible.
We spent there more than a month (almost 7 weeks) and we felt like part of the family since the beginning.
Victoria and Harris are lovely couple and they were welcoming and friendly with us since day one.
They were always ready to give us advice about where to go and what to visit.

… read more we were asked to do were pretty simple and fun. You just need to be into gardening! They always made sure we were okay while we were working providing us all the tools we needee and fresh water.
We used to have dinner (usually even lunch) together and it was very nice, we used to have long chats and get to know each other. We also had the opportunity to meet a lot of their friends from literally all around the world.
Food is literally delicious, Victoria is such a great cook!
In conclusion, we had the best experience we could ever had and we totally reccomend this opportunity!
