I live in the beautiful and hidden little village of Little Wanganui. I earn a living as a contractor doing ecology and conservation work and spend the rest of my time hunting and gathering from the surrounds and developing a garden and orchard, surfing when the waves are good. Mishka the dog also attempts to help with the gardening, emphasis on the word 'attempts' :)
Stays of 1 to 2 weeks would work best around my erratic work commitments though longer stays are possibleTipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

I have worked in conservation and ecology for the last decade and can share my knowledge of New Zealand's unique flora and fauna and the challenges it faces. There is a small nature reserve along one boundary of the property and Little Wanganui sits on the doorstep of the Kahurangi National Park. If you really want to experience nature in Aotearoa then there is an immense landscape here to explore.
Ayuda
Building raised vege beds, clearing bush/weeding, digging drains, painting, woodwork, dog sitting... lots of projects to work on and create. I follow organic practices and try make use of materials at hand.

Alojamiento
Private double bedroom on the ground floor with own deck and toilet. Bedding is available.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. I enjoy cooking and am pretty flexible when it comes to any dietary requirements. Taking turns cooking would be great.
If the work is dog and house sitting while I am away people will need to be largely self sufficient for food as I won't expect anything else to be doneAlgo más...
Loads of things to do on your time off. The Heaphy track and Old Ghost Road are nearby, there is great fishing, a surf break at the river mouth (guest board available!) and an immense beach to wander.

We spent 6 days at Peter's place. We made some gardening, we helped to renovate a furniture, we cooked sometimes and we took care of the cute dog Mishka when Peter was away. The work wasn't hard and Peter is very interesting and he's a very good cooker. We learnt good recipes ! There are some spiders… read more
