Welcome to NannaVana!
Our property lies in the foothill of Western Ghats with over 50acres of land comprising of Forest, Agriculture, Roads, Reservoir, Natural Pond, Boating Pond, Buildings, Swimming Pool, Play area etc among many others.
Forest make a huge part of the property. About 30+ Acres is covered with variety of trees including Teakwood, Rosewood, Mangium, Acacia, Chickoo, Mango etc. This is ideal for adventurers/experts looking to identify various birds, butterflies, snakes and frogs species. If you are lucky, you can spot wild boars, pythons, cobra etc.
About 10+ Acres is covered with agricultural trees/plants like Arecanut, Pepper, Cocoa, Banana, Coconut, Fruits and Vegetables etc. This is where you can learn ways of agriculture, vegetable growing, animal husbandry, bee-keeping etc.We are also proud to let you know that we are moving towards organic farming.
We are in the pursuit to make this property available for public so they can connect with nature better.
The rest of 10 acres is utilized in roads, reservoirs, ponds, pool, buildings. This makes it a perfect blend between Nature and Human. While the roads connect various spots within the property, it by itself can be thrilling to cycle around or ATV.
We have a pool where Guests/Volunteers can play volley ball or other water fun activities.There is a boating pond about 150'x 25'. An adjoining property (Walkable distance) has a river that flows right through it. This can be explored too.There is an area meant for badminton, volley ball, basket ball etc that is yet to be constructed. One can camp in the designated area, light camp fires or make BBQs.
We serve volunteers healthy home cooked vegetarian food.
The property has good Mobile signal coverage and most of the major telecom signal provider work here.
Unfortunately, we do not have wifi available at the moment.

South Canara is a place which is quite famous for its culture and food. Depending on the time of volunteers' stay, one may experience various cultural events like Bootha Kola (Devil Dance), Kambala (Buffalo race), Jaatre (Temple Fair), Navaratri (Yearly festival), Hulivesha (Tiger Dance), weddings etc.
Volunteers will be able to get first hand experience in various aspects of agriculture like bee keeping, raising cows, growing vegetables, organic farming etc.
They will be able to connect with nature and other volunteers there by growing their knowledge.
Ayuda
All work is done by local community members who form the backbone of our farm. We have more than 8 agricultural workers in this plot. They require high level of skills/stamina/dedication to get the work done. The includes tree climbing to apply organic pest-control sprays, pluck agricultural produce like coconut or arecanut etc. The volunteers can help these full-time skilled workers and get a sense of their lifestyle.
Some of the ways you can help are:
One may have hands on experience of various types of manure for various different crops and their importance. Grass cutting and feeding the cows and know various aspects of animal husbandry. Grow organic vegetables for own consumption and know what vegetable garden requires. They can also have hands-on training of bee-keeping.
Photography- One who has knowledge of photography may work on photography and try and collect photos of the property, various animals spotted, work done at the farm etc and compile it into projects that can be posted on various social media to increase online presence. One can also help us in Website Creation.

Accommodation will be given in rooms with attached toilets.
Rooms are fitted with fan, lights and mirror with hot water facility in the bathroom.

The nearest major city is Mangalore which is about 68Kms (Airport, Railway, Bus, Taxi, Rickshaw)
Mangalore City is quite well connected by Air, Water, Rails and Land. Mangalore city is one of the bustling cities of Karnataka. Beaches, Temples, Malls, Multiplexes, Cruise, Restaurant and Canteens are things you can visit in Mangalore City over the weekend. Because it is coastal area, they will have opportunities to learn surfing, swimming and some life saving skills.
It is also close to other places like Coorg, Chikmangalore, Kerala etc.
