    WELCOME IN MY KITCHEN.... MUSIC, DANCE, HENNA, HINDU MYTHOLOGY, COW MILKING & CAMELS - HOMESTEAD IN THAR DESERT, RAJASTHAN (NORTH-WEST INDIA)

    I am a House wife, We are the priest family of the world famous karnimata temple of rats in Deshnoke, Bikaner of Thar Desert, Rajasthan, India.

    This six centuries old unique temple is dedicated to Goddess Karni, the incarnation of power (Goddess of sect of power). We are the decendents of the Goddess. We derive our family name from the Goddess's husband Depa.

    Interestingly the temple is full of rats, spiritual ferver and unparalled beauty of sclupture. It has a beautiful museum where big pictures depicting the wholesome philosophy of the temple is displayed.

    Temple of Rats has been the center of tourist attraction from all over the world. It has been featured by different media outlets around the world.

    It is also a research center for students and scholars from all over the world.The temple is visited by over eighty thousand foreign tourists every year.

    My Husband Babu is the author of a book on the temple. Presently he is working on others languages versions of the book.

    We have Camel/Desert safari as our family business.
    We have a Stable/ Desert Organic Farm/Ranch deep inside the desert.

    Our village is surrounded by camel Highways leading to some of the finest Dunes/Desert of Thar where people breed camels for selling. We are intended to form a co-operative society of these camelmen.

    In their free time, volunteers have the opportunity to learn Indian cooking in my kitchen, learn about our local culture and customs, learn to do Henna, join me in my family shopping in city of Bikaner, learn Hindi and learn cow milking with me if they wish.

    You can join our social getherings and even can attend Hindu weddings with us.

    Our nearby city of Bikaner(20 Miles), a million populated, historical city, situated on ancient 'Silk route' fr China to Arebia, presently known as 'a city of one thousand Hawelies(heritage architecture)' has many forts, oasis and so many other beautiful sites and activities worth visiting where we would love to take you to...
    -Exciting life of this city gaurantees every opportunity that you look for during your stay.
    -Bikaner is the best market of sweets in India, it is really a heaven for sweet lovers. It has a very interesting spice mart where you can buy real Dargiling tea and safron etc.
    -The National Camel Research Centre where you can even try camel milk ice cream !
    -The Ayurvedic health care centre in Dehnoke.
    -The opportunity to go on a camel safari for free.
    -Bikaner has a uniqe 'Ladies market' you can buy very good cloths and ladies items here.
    -Opportunity for Espanola/Francaise students to practice conversational English.
    -By helping you can learn/develop/practice many useful skills like cow milking, animal care, painting house, construction & plumber work etc.

    Deshnoke is a leading spiritual centre (Pilgrimage) of India, there are more temples than no. of houses, there are more Gods/Goddesses than people and there are more festivals in a yr. than 365 so volunteers always have opportunities to be the part of all these.

    Deshnoke is connected directly with Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Agra, Amritsar and rest of the country by train/ bus & air (Bikaner) network.

    We are an all women live, rich cultural experiences, village family, premier workaway.

    Most of our guests start their India trip from us so as to familiarise themselves with Indian culture the most secure way and you can also travel with us to the famous tourist destinations like Tajmahal or in Rajasthan as a family in the most convenient way, if you like and of course, we will come Bikaner Rly.station/airport to welcome you for sure.
